L7 Salon

Alyssa saved my hair from a total hack job that I got from a known-​hip chain of barbershops. I’m so happy to have been redirected to the group at L7– thanks girl!

Long story short:
Ashley was an extremely talented stylist who did a thorough job cutting my hair. Her best quality was the way she balanced listening to what I wanted with still telling me what I needed to hear. She delivered on my exact expectations and was extremely knowledgeable when I bombarded her with question after question (also patient!)
Short story long:
I finally decided it was time for a haircut after a whole year of letting this mop grow on my head. I tried to do a decent amount of research before deciding on what salon within a two mile radius was going to get my business (and where had an opening this weekend.) I actually decided to with another place originally, but couldn’t find my debit card while I was on the phone to put down a deposit. I decided it was fate and to switch to another salon (or I was just too embarrassed to call back…)
Either way, I went back to Unilocal and expanded my search region. LV Salon on Guadalupe was number one by a long shot, and then I found out they also had a second location a few blocks away from me on South Lamar! I called and set the only appointment available for that same day.
Upon arriving, I met Ashley. Not gonna lie, i was a little freaked out at first that she looked so young. I definitely tested her patience when I asked question after question after question (mainly to give myself peace of mind that she knew her craft.) This girl had a broad range of knowledge on every topic/​consideration I threw her way. I was impressed!
What made me respect her even more was her honesty. I wanted to switch my part and have some bangs cut in. Ashley gave me a full description of the challenges associated with both of those things before still allowing me to decide for myself. Then she got fully on-​board with my decision and delivered on my exact expectations.
All in all, Ashley has given me one of the most satisfying haircuts of my entire life. Definitely a repeat customer for as long as I’m in Austin. Her expertise and affordability can’t be beat (the cut itself was only $ 53!) I’ll attach some photos later of the pictures I found to use as reference and the result I walked away with.
Another highlight to point out is that she works at both locations so you have the option to set an appointment with her for which ever is closer to you!

Decided I wanted to make a change after a years worth of meh haircuts and color elsewhere, read other Unilocal reviews and decided to go in for a complimentary consultation. L7 emailed me back almost immediately to set something up.
Sat down with Alycia and talked through what I wanted for about 15 mins (I have had long hair for years and was really looking to take some length off and get back to blonde). I have VERY thick, wavy hair and it takes a special, TALENTED stylist to tame these locks (trust me, I have had more bad haircut/​color experiences than good). I have found my hair savior in Alycia!!!
Alycia «gets blondes» so if you are contemplating a color change or looking for someone to get your blonde just right — STOP READING NOW AND BOOK AN APPOINTMENT! Seriously. Best blonde I’ve ever been!
L7 was so incredibly accommodating (Alycia stayed after close with me because I am going on vacation in 2 weeks and wanted to get my hair done prior to the trip — there was no other time she could fit me in). She took her time and really understood what I was looking for in a cut/​color. The results prove it!!! Gorgeous blonde balayage, gorgeous cut (that looks great even when I style it) Alycia gets me! Couldn’t be happier!

As far as conventional salon’s go, well this is not it. In fact, part of what makes LZ Salon unique and as good as it is, is it’s unorthodox setting. It has a cool industrial feel and very open, love the area too.
Abbi, is a very creative stylist and colorist in her own right, trained with Toni and Guy in and now has Randy to help guide her, does it get any better? She’s all about creativity and helping you look your very best. I have tried to talk her into a variety of cuts that I thought would be amazing and she was honest enough to talk to me about he pros and cons of each. We decided on a certain «look» that would be all mine and I love it and I get compliments all the time. When I first started my hair was also damaged and in very poor condition from being over processed and with her help it has made such a difference to my mane… hear me roar!
The salon features Bumble and Bumble products which I adore and they have help make a difference in the condition of my hair. My overall experiences at L7 is fantastic. The stylists know their stuff and the atmosphere is colorful, laid back and playful.
While L7 does very little advertising (the prefer word of mouth), the word is definitely out, so call ahead to make that appointment, you won’t regret it. Thanks Abbi!

Had my first experience at this salon today and I couldn’t be happier! Alycia brought my hair back to life and it feels great! I’ve had biolage done to my hair before but the outcome was not nearly as pretty. She took her time listening to my wishes even though I didn’t know what I wanted. I put it all in her hands and so thankful I did! At the end of it I told her, «that’s it… We’re officially married!»
Lol…well I’m def committed to going back to her!

surprised I haven’t reviewed yet! I’ve been seeing Abbi for ~2 years now and she’s amazing. I have fairly boring hair, no exciting cut or colors, but she does a great job with it. it’s thick, wavy, and kind of curly in some areas but she manages to tame it every time. she’s personable and cool; she doesn’t seem to mind me blabbing about myself for an hour and a half lol. never left here even remotely unhappy and I presume should I continue to see her, I never will!

I just recently moved here and needed a good stylist. Abbi is simply amazing, she is easy to talk to and listens to your needs and concerns. She did a complete transformation on my hair. So happy with results, can’t wait for my next appointment.

Love this place. The staff is so welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in the door. Love my highlights and cut!

I went to L7 for two and a half years but sadly had to say goodbye when I moved to the Houston area. I have recommended (and will continue to recommend) L7 because they have great management, customer service, stylists, products, and prices.
The stylist that I went to, Joy, is amazing. I loved that I could go in, explain the type of hair style I was going for (e.g. professional, quick and easy styling) and she would give me great recommendations on what to do that day cut and color wise. I always got compliments from friends on my hair after seeing her! Not only that but she taught me how to effectively use products and style my hair – something my past stylists never really took the time to do.
I really miss L7 and Joy and hope that one day I can find a salon just as great!

Legitimately the best haircut I’ve ever gotten. I went from super long hair to a short bob; Joy did an amazing job, asked me tons of questions, looked at my pictures and gave me exactly, to a tee, what I had envisioned. She talked me through how to style it and even took the time to consult on my color for a future appointment. Loved everything and will definitely be returning.

Abbi did an amazing cut and color. She’s also super friendly and easy to keep a conversation going. The salon it self is very nice, clean, and in a great location. Loved my first experience here and would recommend it to friends.

Ever since I moved back to Austin, I’ve found that it is difficult getting a hair appointment that isn’t a month out. Texas women love getting their hair done. But when I called L7, they got me in the next day with Aly. I’m trying to grow out my pixie, so I’m always on the brink of a mullet but Aly knew just what to do. She gave me an amazing haircut and she’s a great person. Go see her!

This is a review for two– with two haircuts, one trim, and a head of vibrant color between us.
To start, I had a great haircut with Joy. My wants are simple but I often have a hard time getting stylists to listen to me since I like to air dry my hair and don’t want to spend hours styling it. I’m low maintenance and my hair is a somewhat curly mass. Joy not only listened but the cut she gave me improved my hair’s curl immensely. A product or so later and my hair is better than ever.
Meanwhile, my daughter, with drastically different hair (thick, straight, dark) wanted her long hair styled and transformed into a mass of indigo, violet and lavender-​gold. Alycia gave her a trim and a consultation. After several emails from my daughter to share colors and ideas, an appointment was arranged. Alycia patiently worked with her to give her beautiful color that is healthy despite the process. The color is beautiful and the cut (trimmed before dyeing) is even better than before. Best of all, and a surprise with the colors chosen, is that there was no fading.
This is the most boring review I think I’ve ever written– but L7 is awesome! Alycia, Joy and everyone else are wonderful, talented and friendly as all get-​out.

This was my first visit to an L7 salon and I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience! I called the morning of and was able to get an appointment with Aly the same afternoon.
I wanted to cut off a lot of hair and had only a general idea about what I wanted, but she was so incredibly receptive! Extremely friendly and asked me lots of questions about the cut as it progressed. It turned out to be exactly what I wanted and I really appreciated that she didn’t shove products down my throat but instead only suggested a crème to purchase at checkout when I asked for her opinion. Shout out to Aly for giving me a cut I adore!
Cute décor and good use of a small space. Love the industrial feel. Easy access via bus.

In a downtown area awash in yoga studios and hair salons, L7 truly stands out. My wife and I have been to L7’s location on Guadalupe and have always been extremely satisfied with the service, but we were very excited when they added a location a little closer to where we live. From the time you step in the door, you are truly made to feel welcome. The receptionists always offer a cup of coffee or something to drink while you (briefly) wait. The stylists are all incredibly friendly and attentive. They always go the extra mile to make sure you are satisfied with the way you look when you walk out the door.
I unreservedly recommend this (home grown) business to anyone looking for an exceptional hair salon experience.

I normally stay with a hair stylist depending on how good she does, how much she knows, and how fun she is to talk to. The lady I had did fine (quick blow out) but she was so awkward the whole time :(she barely talked and when I tried to ask questions about shampoos, how to keep your hair healthy, or deal with curly hair– which usually gets hair stylists talking, especially talented ones– she could barely give me an answer. I won’t be back.

I was given a complimentary hair cut/​color service to help apprentice Alyssa get started on the floor. My complimentary service has NOT given in exchange for this review.
From the moment I walked in, to the moment I left, Alyssa made me feel like a star. I came in with no real direction other than the fact that my hair had to be long enough for pony tails and curls. Alyssa took what little information I gave her, scanned through the few hundreds of pins on my Hair Pinterest board and asked me about my normal morning routine, including how much time I would be spending on my hair. After explaining her goal for my hair thoroughly and efficiently, Alyssa got started right away. She worked quickly and was so friendly the entire time. As I’m sure most feel the same way, the hair washing was AMAZING! I totally fell asleep. The icing on the cake was the use of all Bumble and Bumble products. Before coming here, I was not familiar with the brand but after seeing and SMELLING how great everything was and how much healthier my hair felt because of it, I have fallen in love with this line!
Alyssa took me from dull, faded, dry red toned hair to soft, shiny, darker toned hair with beautiful balayage highlights! I love it so much and my husband is completely enthralled. Walking out of L7, it felt like all I was missing was a fan and a photographer!

Myself (and the unofficial L7 mascot Gizmo) have been going to Randy’s salons since 2009 to have Lisa do my hair since she was at Capelli’s Salon with him off of Kerbey Lane, then over to L7 off Guadalupe, now Lamar, and I wouldn’t go anywhere else!
Lisa has always done an amazing job on my long, thick hair, clearly, or I wouldn’t have been following her around Austin for nearly 6 years! Color, cuts, everything she’s done is great. The very few times I needed a last minute appointment or my appointment needed to be rescheduled and Lisa was unavailable the awesome staff always found me another great stylist to fill in.
I love the new location! SUPER easy to find, nice new scenery, good amount of parking in the parking garage next door and literally only a TWO minute longer drive for me and I’m coming from just south of the Arboretum area. Never have to wait if you schedule an appointment, quality service, affordable prices, and my small (well behaved) little dog has always been able to come and sit on my lap, bonus!
After going to the salon you can walk to a ton of shops and places to eat, another bonus :) Definitely recommend checking them out as you’re guaranteed to have a great experience with a talented stylist.
