I live in the building that they are in. Don’t need a long review to point out that these guys are absolutely amazing.
Dane cuts my hair and has been a rockstar. Only thing to mention is that they’re a little pricey, but, in one man’s opinion, totally worth it.

Nicole is so talented! And the salon experience is nothing short of amazing! Salon prices are comparable to other downtown Austin salons… but, nothing compares to the service and experience!

I’ve been coming to BBS for almost 3, maybe 4 years now? This place is awesome. Nikki and Beau are the sweetest people and make you feel loved every time you walk through the door. Plus, they do some seriously awesome hair. I’ve never been one of those people who «loves» their hair stylist. Now I’m the person who references her (Nikki) in regular conversation by first name as though EVERYONE knows who I’m talking about. She’s unfortunately getting popular (Damn you and your talent Nikki!) so make sure to schedule your appointment in advance!
If you’re looking for your go-​to salon, this is the place, I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
(Oh and all the stylists are awesome, not just Nikki. Dane regularly chainsaws my husband’s unruly thicket of hair into very dashing style. It’s even documented on Instagram!!! I greatly appreciate him as well)

I am completely surprised that I’ve never written a review for them yet. BOOK AN APPOINTMENT NOW WITH NIKKI. Going to a salon is usually a pretty awkward experience for me in and of itself. I’ve had numerous experiences in the past at other establishments where I felt like I was trapped in the chair, and forced to converse with my stylist who seemed disinterested in talking to me. BUT Benjamin Beau Salon is the complete opposite of that in terms of service and experience! Upon entering you’re usually greeted warmly by the receptionist, and offered a drink of your choice.
I always book an appointment with Nikki, who is just the best person ever. Not only does she really listen to what you want, she usually takes your vision while adding her own artistic creativity in order to bring your hair to the next dimension. I’ve had three appointments with her last year, and let’s just say she made me into a hair unicorn! All my experiences here thus far have been absolutely wonderful. Nikki and Beau, along with their entire team are great!
Also Wallace their dog is just the most adorable salon mascot ever.

Haley colored my almost virgin hair yesterday and WOW! I’ve never received more compliments on my hair in my life! People in my office who rarely even speak to me noticed how on point it looks today. I’ve never been happier with a salon experience. From the minute I walked in the door feeling so welcomed, from the hospitality to the shared knowledge, friendly staff and completely comforting environment, I could not recommend this place more! Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to an amazingly relaxing enjoyable experience. My hair has never looked better! Thank you to everyone who made me feel so welcomed and comfortable in a foreign new place. Thanks Haley for the awesome new do! Y’all are magical!

This place is the cat’s meow. I have gone here twice now and cannot get over how amazing the experience is. The staff is quite spectacular, and really make you feel at home and comfortable. Beau is a magician, and I am pretty sure I am in love with his wife Nikki. I have had my hair done by both of them so far and just want them to adopt me already as their hair child.
I used to frequent Bird’s Barbershop because it was so affordable and convenient, but I wouldn’t think of going anywhere else than Benjamin Beau Salon. Love this place!

One of the best salon experiences I’ve ever had. The staff at Benjamin Beau are friendly and know what the heck they’re doing. I will definitely be back and recommend to friends!
I have long, stubborn Asian hair and wanted to do a blue ombré. I went to the salon for two sessions: to get bleached blonde and then for the blue color. I sat down with Nicole for a consultation first before anything took place.
Beau helped me go blonde which took 5 hours… He was super meticulous with my ombré and probably spent 1.5 hours just putting the foil in my air! My hair did not turn orange or brassy as promised, and Beau toned the blonde into a beautiful ash blonde. I loved it so much that I was honestly hesitant to continue with the blue. But I’m so glad I did!
Nicole mixed 3 different shades of blue for me. I call it Kinds of Blue. (Miles Davis Hat tip.) The process took maybe 2 hours total and included a cut. Nicole lightened the heaviness around my crown and gave me blunt bangs. Some of the blue got mixed into the bangs which was a welcomed surprise.
Overall, I’m beyond happy with my look! They even offer free trims for my bangs… forever.
The price is not cheap, but if you’re looking for quality work by truth professionals, I highly recommend Benjamin Beau.

Let me preface all of this by saying that I took almost 2 months to write this review because I wanted to stay as objective as possible.
Before i start with the bulk of this review-​which is mostly about what went wrong-​I want to lay out the outstanding.
The people who work here are some of the kindest, genuine, coolest individuals I have EVER met at a salon. Customer service here is crazy good. People hear your name (and mine is a doozy) and they remember it, tKe the time to learn it and call you by it the entire time you’re there.
Their layout is so smart. You’re not forced to socialize, but the area where you get color or various treatments is set up in a circle so that it’s much more social. If you want to talk — great. If you don’t, no sweat. I LOVE this concept.
The room where you get your hair washed is so thoughtfully laid out. It’s super dark but peaceful and serene.
If you have straight, straight hair, or want really cool vivid color — -come here. Because from everything I’ve seen, their work with that is impeccable.
But for us really curly gals — this review your warning.
When I called the salon, I asked the woman I spoke with (super nice and lovely btw) who I should be paired with — no cost barred — who could slay with curly hair. I was told: Dane S. Perfect! Thank you! See you at my cut. The day arrives and I’m pumped. I’m cutting off roughly 6 inches of hair! Woo hoo! Deuces to the weight! I met Dane and this cat couldn’t be nicer, or more chill. Apparently ppl get his name twisted a lot, so I made it a point to remember «D“ane, not Zane. We get started, and that’s when the concerning part starts. The first hack is made and I’m feeling great! But then, he pulls out hair clippers. He wants to add in shape and layer – with clippers.
Pretty sure — all my curly hair ladies have passed out upon reading this. You can’t cut curly hair with clippers and not turn us into frizzy hot messes. It will look GREAT in the salon but as soon as we wash, style and grow it out a smidge it becomes disastrous. So, I calmly let him know that I don’t let my hair be cut with razors, thinning shears, clippers. I’m sure this was ANNOYING as all hell. He’s the artist, right? and here comes this heifer looking like you just cut her skin, while you were just doing your amazing thing.
But trust me — -for 13 years, I’ve been getting my hair cut and have struggled to find hair artists that work magic with a curly coif. It’s hard. Real damn hard. To really perfect a curly cut, you gotta get in there with scissors and cut with the curl.
So — next thing. I wanted to do a hair tinting. I have lots and lots of white hairs. And, I didn’t per se, want them to all be black, but instead, a darker silver was what I wanted them to be tinted. I communicate this. Later, as the hair is being coated, I inquired about the color — and I’m told — we’re going with a blue black. I had already had my eyes bug out over the razors, and my head was already coated in color — so I just swallowed and reminded myself — «I have shaved my head completely bald 4 times in my life. I not attached to hair. Get over yourself.» But I can tell you now — the color came out more purpleish —- from what everyone who saw sunlight by my hair told me. And it actually matters that when you request a color, that, it’s hit on the head.
So then we sit down for the cut. I came prepared with pictures of the model Nazanine. A woman who had the exact same hair texture and curl pattern that I have. No less than 8 pictures. Even one when she had hair down her back — which showed how similar our hair texture is.
The first thing I’m told is: so I’m thinking not a lot of layers because that’s not going to compliment this cut. So I pull out the main picture again and say, «actually this cut has a lot of layers in it.»
At this point I know I’m walking out unhappy. I know the cut isn’t going to be what I want it to be. I know I’m not going to be happy.
But honestly — please tell me — what can I do? I’m not going to cry bc — it’s fucking hair, and mine grows out fast, and there are bigger problems in this world. I’m not going to yell, because we have an entire salon with customers and I don’t want to be that customer.
And I REALLY like everyone in this salon. Even the guy cutting my hair who is botching it at every turn. What. Do. You. Do?
So I just got the hair cut.
When I saw it, it was roughly 3 – 4 inches shorter than I had wanted it, ZERO layering, wrong color tinting, and… the only thing that I liked was bang trim.
I’m including a picture with this for you to judge yourself.
The top left picture is the hair I came with, top right is Nazanine and the haircut I wanted. Bottom left is the haircut I walked out the door with — same day, about 15min after I left the salon. And the bottom right is what it looks like straightened — so you can see that there are absolutely zero layers in that cut.
In conclusion — if you have super curly hair like mine — -find another salon

I moved to Austin from Massachusetts and had to look for a new salon. I’ve grown used to the quality of a Paul Mitchell focus salon and so was looking for one in the Lake Travis area… none that had great reviews. So I went into downtown Austin and found BENJAMIN BEAU. One word… WOW!
This place has it all down. As you enter the upscale but welcoming salon, you’re welcomed with a choice of beverage and a tour of the place. The salon has an Austin feel, industrial contemporary and soothing… They even have little cubbies for your purse. Everyone is so friendly and each person has their own role… from the person who washes your hair to the person who refills your beverage. I loved how everything about the salon was explained to you… their color bar and how they will save a formula that works for you. Really insightful customer service. My stylist was Nicole and she sat down and spent as much time as I needed, so that she could have a good understanding of what I wanted to do with my hair. Honestly I wasn’t sure and Nicole helped me discover what it was that I liked about different styles and we took it from there.
They have a ZEN ROOM that was pure magic. Dim lighting, bamboo, ambient music. This was where I was treated to a relaxing hair wash, neck and shoulder massage. When I left the room to get my hair done, I literally felt like I was walking on a cloud.
In the end… best hairstyle I’ve ever received. I have a lot of fine hair and always wanted more texture. This is what I received along with tips on how to style it myself.
You can tell when a business is very detail oriented and strategizes ways for making their customers feel valued. These people work really hard to do that and it shows.
Wish there were more stars because they have a 10 from me. Go there, you will not be disappointed.

I hate finding new services, especially in a salon. Usually reception is a nightmare with their fake, saccharine-​sweet smiles and ((once I’m herded in)) my wait is filled with anxiety until I meet my new stylist. The staff at Benjamin Beau Salon were having none of that. They are fabulous.
My first visit: They welcomed me with open arms. Several assistants and the receptionist sat down next to me to chat a bit. I was… 45 minutes early. Mommy brain. They welcomed me none the less and made me a part of the family. When the time came I met my stylist Nicole and I explained what I was looking for. We talked through some options and got started. Within minutes I was chatting like she was my best friend. We laughed and talked about life in the communal circle where «color is celebrated». Enchanting. Nicole worked on my hair while Beau services another guest. We all started chatting and by the time we were ready to wash the fun vibes were in the air and it was palpable. Anyone walking by surely was envious of our group dynamic. The shampoo was a glorious dream of zen head massaging and I was beyond thrilled with the end result. I scheduled my follow up and was sad not to be coming back sooner.
Second visit. I was in the biggest bullshit mood. I sat down and told Nicole what was up and she asked me what it would take to make me walk out of the salon feeling happy. I showed her a photo of what I was going for and we chatted about options for a bit. it was decided: RED!
She started work and the conversation, once again, started flowing like magic. When you sit in her chair you just feel this organic urge to spill the beans. She’s right there with you. Chatting like a college girlfriend. We laughed, and we got serious, and then we laughed some more. By the time I was out of that chair I was beyond happy. SALVATION!
I like every staff member there. I talked to all of them and they all talked to me. Any snobbery is left at the door and these are just real people. The stylists are, in fact, artists. I enjoy my visits here and after sitting with my new hair for a few days I am still as happy as the day I left.
**Reading through the reviews you either love this place or you’re part of the 10% who were dissatisfied. Of the 10% there were a few who didn’t speak up after their service. I was asked *several* times after my service if I was happy with the end result. If you aren’t happy, please say something. The team here is absolutely amazing and I believe that they would turn around ((in most cases)) and fix the problem.**

You can rely on me to review this salon as I spent all day in it getting color done and let me say it turned out amazing! I cannot tell you how many times I have gotten compliments on my cut and color done by Dane. Dane is super chill easy going and friendly but most of all talented. I requested lavender purple and grey done on my black hair and he made it happen! The lavender color they had in stock wasn’t the color I was interested in but Dane didn’t let that get in the way to make me happy. He had this brilliant idea of mixing a few colors to make the perfect shade!
Everyone here is super friendly and introduced themselves to me. We had wonderful conversations about music, movies and family. I was offered snacks and drinks throughout my appointment.
And let me say this, I stopped going to salons a long long time ago because I always seemed to walk out unsatisified with my cut/​color. Well at Benjamin Beau Salon I walked out ecstatic and I will be returning! You won’t regret coming here it’s a gem!

I’d let the gray grow out and it looked really bad. Nicole gave me all-​over highlights, making it an even blend of blonde, platinum, and white, over an under layer of brown, and it just looks so GOOD.
She also gave me an awesome hair cut. She had me go through photos online, took the elements I liked and blended them together in this masterful way. She’s gifted!
In short, this was the best hair cut I’ve ever had! I’m could not be more delighted.

After so many people telling me I HAD to visit Benjamin Beau, I finally went for a cut and color with Dane and loved it! The review I hear from friends and fellow co workers is «whoever does your hair will do a good job there» and it’s the truth. I followed their Instagram posts and watched the other stylists while I was there and they are all truly exceptional stylists. I loved the welcoming, non-​pretentious vibe while everyone talks to each other and makes sure you are always taken care of while in the salon.
My favorite part about my experience was that Dane took his time, asked me a lot of great questions and really made sure he understood the entire time what it was I was looking for… And the end result was fabulous! Do yourself a favor and spend the money on this place– you won’t regret it!

Literally just made a Unilocal account to share this with everyone. As a «for the most part» hair virgin, I have always been SO anxious even when getting a trim. I have never gotten any light color put into my hair, so when I woke up wanting a sudden change, I knew I had to act fast and do it before I chickened out. I have heard nothing but amazing reviews of this place so I decided to check it out, and this is what I personally experienced today.
Setting the appointment was quick and easy. I called, they were closed, I left a message and got a call back an hour later confirming my appointment with Nicole.
First of all, right when I walked in, I was greeted by two beautiful smiling ladies (Crystal and Nicole) and my belongings were taken for me. Crystal checked me in and asked if I had ever been there before, which I UNFORTUNATELY hadn’t. She then gave me a complete tour of the salon, explaining to me the process that Nicole would take me through, what would be done where, and information about the products they used and why. The place is super clean and organized, very professional, cute, and comfortable.
She then took me to get a robe, and asked me if I wanted a complimentary beverage (tea, coffee, cucumber water). Then Nicole sat and talked with me about what I wanted to do with my hair, eased all anxiety that I had, and got to work.
As she worked, she talked with me, and Dane who was working across from us chimed in to the conversation and that made me feel even more comfortable. While my hair sat I was taken to a super comfy chair (with my hot tea!) to wait, and they had all kinds of magazines that were ACTUALLY from this month and year! (I know, I probably got way to excited about that detail, but the last time I was at a salon I was thumbing through a magazine wondering how they had even came across a Cosmo from March of 2002.)
When Nicole took me into the zen room to shampoo my hair, I seriously almost fell asleep. The dark room and calming music mixed with how gentle she was with my hair was an intoxicating blend of amazingness. Another girl (I feel so horrible for not remembering her name! She was tall and thin, super beautiful and SO sweet) came and gave me a scalp, shoulder and neck massage. THAT IN ITSELF WAS WORTH EVERYTHING. She basically had to make me get up because I just wanted to live in that spot forever.
I was then taken to get my cut, which Nicole did with such grace and confidence that it didn’t cross my mind once if I should be worried I wouldn’t like it. She explained to me what she was doing, and explained all the products to me that she was using in my hair and what they did. While she did that she talked to me like you would an old friend and even listened to me vent (who needs therapy when you have a stylist right?) Beau came and said hi, and was helping to clean up the massive mane I left behind. Very humbling to see all the teamwork that was going on throughout my entire experience, you can really tell they all work together SO well.
I also freaked a little when I realized my car may be towed because of the time limit of where I had foolishly parked not realizing there was a parking garage. Crystal was actually kind enough to move my car into a safe place for me so I would have peace of mind because I was in the middle of my cut.
Long story NOT short, I almost cried HAPPY TEARS when I saw the final result of her work. Because she took the time to really listen to what I wanted and didn’t assume or decide to do what SHE felt would look better, I left not wanting one thing different. I am obsessed with my hair, I’m obsessed with that salon, I’m obsessed with the staffs incredible grace. I would never in a million years go any place else.

Nicole is absolutely amazing! I’ve been going through the transformation from black to blonde for about a year now, so of course getting all of that color out of my hair was going to bring up a lot of unwanted colors, had been to about 3 different stylists, before Nicole, lifting my hair. I came into her with a yellow orange and gold disaster and she worked some awesome magic! I think the prices are very reasonable for how fast an accurate the work is. You get what you pay for, and I would happily pay more money for Nicole to do my hair then the waste of money I spent on mediocre hairstylists in the past! Love Benjamin Beau and Paul Mitchell!:)

Literally THE BEST experience I’ve ever had at a salon. I went to Nicole for a cut and color, and she did an amazing job. She actually talks with you very specifically about what you want, rather than assuming she knows better than you.
I wish I could get my hair washed here every day. The wash station is in a dimmed room with zen music playing, and you get a full on head, neck and shoulder massage that alone is worth the trip here.
Every employee stopped to ask me how I was doing and if I needed anything while sitting under the dryer, and the receptionist gave me a tour upon arrival to make me feel comfortable. I almost felt guilty using The $ 100 cut and color deal because Nicole’s work was worth much more – just add more in to your tip! I won’t be going anywhere else ever while I’m living in Austin to get my hair done.

I just recently moved to the Austin area and was looking for a salon. I came across the salon online, and a friend at my husbands work suggested this place to me. So I made an appointment and was scheduled with Beau to do my hair. He was fantastic! He talked to me the whole time and made me feel comfortable. The wash room for hair was AMAZING I actually fell asleep during the head wash and massage. The new customer price is also enough for me to go back and recommend this place to others. This is now my go to Salon, it is worth every penny!

Honestly, I carelessly booked an appointment in a very uninviting and cliquish salon simply due to the fact of location and the appointment fell through. I frantically called around and beyond my belief Tiana was available to take me in completely last minute.
From the set up of their store to the individuals who work there the entire atmosphere is beyond belief. They all genuinely care and it shows more than they have any idea. I was a huge headache last night due to the fact the color didn’t stay in my hair but everyone stayed behind with Tiana and I until everything was perfect. I’m not the type to splurge on myself but I could not be happier with my results. With everything that happened I figured I’d be spending a chunk of money-​I still cannot get over how reasonable the prices are for the magic each of them relinquish.
I can not and will not go anywhere else because of how amazed I was/​am over last night. I will never quit recommending to anyone who will listen.
