Lucky to find these guys when I developed car trouble while in Austin on business. They diagnosed my problem quickly and were able to order the part needed to complete the repair, while getting me back on the road at least temporarily until the next day when the part arrived. The repair was completed quickly and professionally and at a very fair cost. I wish I could always find mechanics like these whenever I find myself with car trouble. Highly recommended for those of you who live in Austin.

When moving to a new area-​its really hard to find a good mechanic place just to do general services. When I contacted the mechanics back home at General Tires in Redwood City-​they were kind enough to find a couple places (this one was highly recommended) that would take care of my car needs.
Thank god these guys are opened early on Saturday mornings were able to help me with my car needs. They were able to do a quick oils change, general servicing, do a car inspection and tire rotation. They honor the Tires Pro Program which is fantastic and the guys in the shop were very friendly, fast and affordable.

I called in for an inspection, was quoted a time on a Saturday morning. They stuck to the time. The customer service wasn’t red carpet worthy but they weren’t rude. The efficiency more than made up for any lack of extraordinary hospitality though. I’d definitely consider them for more vehicle work.

My visit here was only a quick 20 min but that quick 20 min is why I’m giving them a good amount of stars.
I can only vouch for the car inspection aspect of this place but I was surprised at how fast they got me in and out of there.
The guy asked if I’d ever been here before and when i said no he was even nice enough to thank me for choosing them. I don’t know if they make all the employees say it, but it’s nice to be thanked for your business.
Short and sweet and in and out service if you need an inspection.

These guys rock! I dropped off a car with a leaky front tire. They hunted around, dunked it in the water, no apparent leak. They unmounted it and felt around inside, no apparent damage. They resealed and remounted the tire and put it back on the car. I asked how much I owed them, they said nothing — no charge. And Juan was as friendly and courteous as could be. Crazy! They said if it still seems to be leaking, bring it back. I absolutely will be back. Give these guys a try!

A call to an oil change facility down the street at 4:45 and was told if I dropped off my car I’d get it back before noon the next day. For an oil change.
Dropped off my car at Klingemanns at 4:55 and it was done by 5:30. The staff were courteous, helpful, and took care of everything quickly and efficiently.

I had a great experience at this shop. They were able to fit me in on really short notice and resolve all of my car issues. The manager, Juan, is very friendly, professional and he has a unique ability to communicate effectively with his customers. There was no judgment, and he was not patronizing in any way. I had no problem trusting his assessment of my vehicle. I had been to Klingemann one time before to get my car inspected, and I remember being really impressed by how well Juan treated his customers. It was this professionalism that brought me back to their shop. I highly recommend Klingemann and I am so grateful to have found a trusted shop to service my car.

I have so much respect for this shop. On at least three occasions over the last few years, they have inspected my car (for free) and ultimately recommended I NOT get any work done. Think about how rare and wonderful this is. They willingly have turned down my business when I have brought in a car with a perceived problem. They have earned my trust be repeatedly valuing honesty over making a buck. Can’t recommend them enough — having a mechanic you trust is a huge benefit to peace of mind.

MAJOR thanks to Klingemann for their excellent repair of my beloved 1997 Dodge pickup. I got a great word-​of-​mouth recommendation to go there from a friend. The clutch replacement was done on budget and on time. In fact, they finished installing my new clutch faster than I expected and kept my truck inside their facility until I could get there to pick it up. Serviceman Juan was attentive, courteous and helpful when he worked up my cost estimate and I gave him my truck. President and owner Rob called me today, a month later, to make sure I was happy with the repair work and the way my truck is running. Now THAT’S great service!!! I’m new to Austin and this is where I’ll take all my vehicles.

with them. The website experience was great. The shop however could not find the tires at first. After putting them on would not honor the installation price they had published on the website. Just claimed the the site was not up to date. Poor customer service.

DO NOT bring your car here! I think they used to be an honest shop, but something changed and now they are scammers (recommending unnecessary repairs).
Seriously, go elsewhere because there’s a high likelihood they’re ripping you off as they tried with me. If it sounds fishy, think twice.

Is it possible tonot even earn one star? My 78 year old father took his vehicle to Klingemann’s to get the state inspection done. While there, they came up to him and told him he’d need new wipers because his were in peices. My Dad said no they’re not. They accused him of saying they were dishonest. Well, the wipers were indeed in peices because Klingemann’s mechanic broke them getting them off the wiper arms, so, they are dishonest. Then my father said he didn’t want to replace the blades w/​Klingemann because he had new blades at home he could use. At this point, Klingemanns refused to give him his inspection sticker; I guess because now my Dad had non-​functioning wipers?. (remember, they had removed them without permission?) Dad paid anyway but left without the sticker. He had to go get it done somewhere else. Bad Bad Bad. Shame on Klingemann’s.

I’ve had enough. Read my two previous reviews. Let me add the 5th time in a row where they screwed up.
5) Took my car in for its free tire rotation.
Thats fine, they offered to balance them as well. Indeed, they did these things and the car feels better. But he kept asking me if I wanted any service done, and mentioned the brake fluid looked like it needed to be replaced. Sure, I’ve been told already that it does so I gave them the OK. My car was ready, I came to get it.
Luckily, I tested the brakes before taking off. The pedal was so mushy, it went all the way to the floor! Whaa… I kept pumping to see if it was temporary. Nope. Each time, it went to the floor.
Are you guys trying to kill me? Didn’t anybody test this first before handing me the keys? I went in to complain, and they did take care of it and said that there was still a little air in the lines and they got it out. Indeed, it felt better.
I want a mechanic that tests my car properly before putting my life into it. As nice as the guy is at the front desk, the yahoos working in the back seem to have proven to me that they’re not skilled or caring enough to deal with basics.
I’d rather pay somebody to rotate my tires than end up killed because of these guys. So long, Klingemann.
Check out Willie’s Automotive — a block away. They’ve been pretty fantastic so far with everything they’ve done. I hope they do tires as well.

So I’m taking back my last post on Klingermann Auto. The service here is pretty great, the staff is always very friendly and ready to help, but the write up on their prices is just stupid.
I’d been having some car trouble the last year or so since I moved to Austin. My car would run fine but would start running hot, REALLY hot, for just a day or two every couple months and then would return to normal. Klingermann got me a new thermostat, a recommendation for a new radiator and a list of other causes which, of course I dished out money to get them to fix. After about three visits and several hundred bucks later my car was still running hot. I eventually took it to the dealership and got a new timing belt. Boom. Case closed.
Thanks Klingermann. Thanks for nothing.

So here’s the thing: I drive one of those fancy future cars. Yes, I’m a latte-​sipping Prius owner. And for the most part, I don’t trust anybody with my baby but the dealership. For a while after buying the car in late-​2003, I couldn’t find anyone who would touch one. I had a good relationship with the dealership service department in Houston, and used them for all my service. However, I have yet to find a Toyota service department in Austin that is really service-​oriented. Scathing review forthcoming on that front…
But I’m here to talk about happy times, and the discovery of Klingemann’s on Oltorf. At first, I was a bit wary, but was recommended here by Brian S. He said that Dylan would hook me up. Well, I had done my research, and wanted to get some of the 100k mile maintenance done to my baby. I was shopping around, and had a few questions that I needed answered. The only one who answered them to my satisfaction was Dylan at Klingemann’s. We discussed the difficulty in changing the coolant in the Prius (because of the inverter), the importance of using a certain type of transmission fluid, and he even talked me out of changing sparkplugs prior to 120k. What? A mechanic told me to spend LESS money? What is today, backwards day?
So we have our little talk, and I decide to give them a whirl. Before I leave from my estimate, we get to talking about how many Priuses (or is that Prii?) that they worked on at the shop. Turns out that they had the Cap Metro contract for maintenance of their Prius fleet for 5 years. They had all the same equipment as the Toyota dealership and were quite comfortable working on my baby. I felt she would be in good hands.
This morning, I rolled up at 8:30 for the services we had discussed. I then ambled around the area, visiting various and sundry businesses. When I saw that it was down off the lift, I headed back. Dylan and I had another discussion about what should be done to the car over the next 30k miles (basically just change the oil, oil filter and air filters), I paid for the service and headed on my merry way.
Here’s what I had done:
Coolant fluid replacement
Transmission fluid replacement
PCV Valve replacement
Oil/​Filter change.
Total cost? A lot less than the dealer.
I will definitely be bringing my car back to this place.

The power steering hoses that these guys replaced were original and lasted over 10 years. Just a couple months after they completely flushed the system and replaced the hoses, the fluid is leaking again. I don’t expect to pay for them to fix the same problem again so soon. I’ll stick with Klingemann Car Care only if they do the job right.

The first time I went here, I banged down the door before they were open and begged to leave my keys. I explained that I was a teacher and I had a first period class that would be waiting outside my door if I didn’t get there pronto. The nice man took my keys and shooed me away. I called with all my info and they fixed my tires before I even had time to miss my car.
And I should’ve listened to these guys when they told me that day that I needed two more new tires than the ones I was replacing. But they were cool, they said they understood and said they’d put the crappy ones on the back. They even gave me a teacher discount on the two tires I was replacing.
They were even nice enough to not say, «I told you so,» when I came in a few months later with a blow out that could’ve killed me as I was cruising down 71 late for teaching summer school. They just fixed my tires quickly, even when I came in at the last minute, and sent me on my way. They are nice folks.
