Kesos Taco House

This place is awesome! Easily one of the best breakfast tacos I’ve ever had! How can you beat a breakfast taco with queso (or kesos), chorizo, bacon, eggs… so good. I’ll be thinking about that breakfast taco for weeks…

I love the breakfast tacos here! specifically the chorizo & egg. I always add jalapeños & sour cream. the salsa bar is where it’s at though. the 2 green salsas are the bomb. I think I could drink the avocado salsa.

Big tacos, lots of deals: free chips and salsa with Unilocal review, happy hour free drink, and on the hooked app. So if you’re on a budget they have lots of ways to help fill you up for cheap.
Their breakfast tacos are probably the best bang for your buck: large amounts of egg and meat/​cheese/​potatoes. Slather some salsa on and you’re good to go.
The queso is really uninspiring — its got a thick consistency but not much taste. Oddly, the texture didn’t change after 30 minutes of eating — didn’t stiffen at all which is strangely scary.
I got a surf n turf taco and a triple oinker. The surf n turf i couldn’t even tell there were shrimp in them — they were that small. Even the meat didn’t taste like decent quality steak. Triple tinker is probably the greasiest taco I’ve ever had but its pretty good if you don’t mind the pit of oil. Think spicy pork fat oozing out of your taco and soaking through the plate liner. Extremely flavorful but not for the health conscious. It’d be nice if they griddled their tortillas first but that’s minor.
For the price, its meh. They’re are better around in the area.

As a college kid, it’s often impossible to fit a good breakfast into your daily routine. That’s where Kesos fits the perfect niche! The breakfast tacos are delicious, good portion sized, and they come out quick. My personal favorite being the chorizo and egg. Couple this with the free chips and salsa for checking in out Unilocal and you have the best bargain in town. Along with a friendly waitstaff and a television to watch football games, Kesos is truly one of my favorite spots in town.

I came here when I was visiting Austin. It was one of the few places open on Sunday and everyone loved it. They have a Torchy’s feel but they are also unique on their own way. I recommend the sampler

I agree with the other reviewers in that the food here is OK, but not particularly great. Definitely not worth the prices they charge. I had the Surf n Turf Diablo, which was good and the Bluebonnet which was NOT. Whoever decided that blue cheese and mushrooms should be put in a taco together should re-​evaluate their choices. The guac was also just alright, too acidic for my taste and definitely not worth the $ 5 the charge for the tiny bowl. I would have left 3 stars, but the service here was no bueno. I went during lunch on a Friday and there were literally only 3 other patrons in the entire restaurant, but when I was at the front trying to order, the girl at the counter was busy chatting with her two co-​workers and not at all attentive. I literally had to get her attention and say «Ok, I’m ready to place my order.»
It sucks because I work close to this restaurant and was hoping to have a new lunch spot. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning :(

There’s a lot of taco places in Austin. From places in food trailers to full-​blown brick-​and-​mortar establishments, Austin has no shortage when it comes to the taco. I heard about this place, and I figured I would give it a shot.
Don’t get me wrong the food is good, I’m just bored. It’s the same regurgitated taco ingredients in every establishment cooked in a different place. The habanero sauce was pretty hot and flavorful. The two tacos they had were tasty. I just feel like I’ve already eaten the same taco 100 times.
If you’re nearby this place craving a taco go for it. To me it’s just another emulation of torchy’s.

I went there for the first time today. I tried the Keep it weird and Surf and Turf Diablo tacos. Is it just me or does anybody else think that the prices are a bit steep? I also tried a small chips and queso and a medium drink. It all totalled to almost $ 16. I can get a more filling and satisfying meal at almost any other place around that area for less.
The chips and queso alone we’re $ 4.99 and the queso bowl was pretty small.
The guy told me the tacos were a pretty good size but they looked like regular tacos to me and with skimpy fillings. The surf and turf was supposed to have shrimp but nary a shrimp to be found and just 3 or 4 small pieces of steak. The rest was filler and the jalapenos were bland.
Food was edible but just not what I expected. I can get a cheaper and better taco at a real Taqueria.

The food here was just ok. Dinner tacos are just $ 4 each, plus tax. I had the COTAco which consisted of some pretty bland barbacoa and roasted potatoes. The texture of soft meat + soft potatos was pretty monotonous.
Breakfast tacos were a bit better. The chorizo/​egg/​cheese was actually pretty good and worthy of 4 stars. The longhorn was also bland, though. The pitfall with steak tacos is that restaurants always use cheap steak which means it doesn’t have much flavor. Failure to season correctly makes for a bland taco.
They’ve only been open a couple weeks so perhaps I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and try again in a month or so. In any event, this won’t be replacing Torchy’s any time soon.

Tasty tacos and nice service. Convenient spot for a quick but. Reasonable price for the sampler plate. The tacos are a little pricey (on par to Torchy’s etc). Lots of crazy toppings. Hard to choose. Favs was ACL and Keep it Weird. Guacamole is spicy but fresh and tasty.

I just got back from being in Dallas for the summer and decided to try this place out as I noticed it took over where Janitzio’s used to be. Right off the bat I could tell that the owner really cares about the place as the old door has been replaced with a nice new one that opens properly and smoothly.
This place is all tacos and they do a really good job at it. There is a very wide variety to choose from and they accommodate all tastes and desires. I had the Hippie Hollow and SX tacos. They were both excellent and stuffed as much as possible with tasty yumness. I really appreciated the extent to Keso’s stuffed their tacos. The corn tortillas tasted a bit bland but it didn’t take away from the experience.
The tacos run a bit pricey. Both of mine were
$ 3.79 each and it takes two to get full. If they could somehow cut it down to $ 3 flat, it would be perfect.
I will definitely be coming back to try out the rest of the menu and their breakfast items. I live right down the street so this place will be my taco place.

After watching this place remodeling for the last several months, I was psyched to see it was finally open, and I had high hopes for it. I’m happy to report I was not disappointed. Stopped in for lunch and was glad to hear breakfast tacos are served all day! I got a Soco Taco (migas and keso sauce on a flour tortilla) and a Keep It Weird Taco (pork carnitas, potatoes, pico and keso sauce on a corn tortilla). I was impressed by both. Both were served piping hot and with a generous amount of filling. The Keep it Weird taco was overflowing with pork, so much so that I removed some of the pork to get the right filling to tortilla ratio, but I certainly appreciate the generosity. The pork was well seasoned. Nothing special about the tortillas really. When your tacos are delivered they’ll ask you what kind of salsa you want. There were 5 types today. I tried the habanero and the avocado. The habanero was no joke in terms of spice, but I enjoyed the burn and the avocado was fresh and mild. I plan to return to try their Keso and chips and some more of their creatively named tacos. The mural on the wall is a nice local touch and the service was friendly and efficient. There is a small dedicated parking lot, but I’m sure as soon as the word gets out this place is going to be packed.
