I was treated very nicely when I called ahead about my car trouble and when I arrived with my car to be diagnosed. However when the female manager called to discuss my car and I declined their service, the friendly treatment became brusque. When I went in to get my keys, the same female employee barely looked at me and thrust my key at me. I wouldn’t have made this review except for how rudely she treated me over declining a labor charge of 96 $ when Ford offered the same service for 19.95 $

I went in for an oil change and I left completely happy. Mr & Mrs Ferguson were both very helpful and informative. They answered all of my questions about the type of oil required for my car. I found my new auto shop. Thank you Mr and Mrs Ferguson for being friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.

This is a hard review because I can’t evaluate the mechanics. The only person I had contact with was the lady at the front desk who was very icy to say the least. Nasty tone and failed to notify me when my car was done with inspection. When I came back to get it she didn’t even acknowledge I had entered the shop.
As a business owner in the retail sector I just hate this type of service and it really rubs me the wrong way.

They have provided great service to me for the last few years… mainly checking tires on my fleet: scooter, motorcycle and car. Just now repaired car tire with giant screw in it for $ 15 and did it right away! Thanks guys!

I have been going to these guys for several years for minor repairs with any of our out of warranty cars — I am very pleased in general. They look out for the customer and present options on cost. And they follow through on what they promise in terms of timing of the car being repaired, etc.

My check engine light came on so I came here to figure out why. I explained that my car was EXTREMELY low on gas and my light came on. I was curious if they could check what caused the light to come on. They tried to charge me $ 90 or so until I mentioned I could do it at Autozone for free. They then told me that I had 2 cylinders misfire and it would cost $ 1000 to fix. Afterwards, my dad explained to me that the parts would maybe cost $ 100 and I could easily do it myself. My car-​savvy friend also explained that my car probably misfired because of my lack of gas. My car is running perfectly fine now and I haven’t had any problems. Needless to say, I’m not returning and paying $ 1000 for nothing.

Had a flat tire. Called for assistance. Said their tow man was on vacation. I changed my own tire and still drove over there. They made me wait for 20 minutes before they would even talk to me. Everyone else was being assisted, including people that showed up after I did. It did not escape my notice that all the other customers were men. MASOGYNISTIC is one word that comes to mind. LADIES, STAY AWAY!!!

Any port in a storm should be the title of this review. I had a tire going flat this morning and managed to get enough air in it to nurse it in to Ferguson’s, the closest open place to my house.
When I stopped in, the station had no customers. The guy behind the counter asked if I wanted to leave my car and pick it up later. I explained that I needed to get to my office and I’d prefer to wait for it. He then tells me that he’ll take a look at it and ‘try” to help me.
After a very quick repair, I was surprised by the price. By no means expensive (and certainly cheaper than a new tire), but their prices for a tire repair are higher than even a service station in Tarrytown. (Literally)
5 stars for a quick convenient fix. 0 – 1 stars for crabby service. Again, any port in a storm, but definitely, «Meh. I’ve experienced better.»

Great service… went for a car inspection/​brake inspection… in and out in 1 hour! Will definitely recommend this place. and come back again!!!

I’ve lived near Ferguson Automotive for going on 2 years now. I’ve used them for minor things like oil changes and flat tires. Both times I’ve had to go to them because of a nail in my tire, it’s taken 5 minutes for them to fix and costs less than $ 15. I’ll take that any day over going to a dealership or major repair center and have them tell me I need a whole new tire.
The guys there are always really friendly and helpful. They stay open fairly late too which helps if you work into the evening like I do. I’ll continue going to Ferguson Automotive until they give me a reason not to.

They are old school honest! They will not overcharge.

It is true they will rip you off! I took my car to them and they charged me over $ 100 plus towing fee just for 1 fuse! That wasn’t even the issue, something was shorting out in the HvAC control module and required a diagnostic wich they didn’t conduct, but still charged. So a couple days later and 7 blown fuses I gave en them a call to correct there work, they offered a tow and to not charge to correct. After tow not only did they stick us with the bill but they said my car parts where rare and could take months to order and work on! Called Chrysler and the Parts were definitely in stock, THESE GUYS WILL LIE AND CHEAT YOU JUST FOR A BUCK! JUST BECAUSE THERE IN A NICE SUBURBAN AREA AND HAVE THEY OWN FAMILY MEMBERS THERE (Not working mind you) they think you won’t know your getting SCREWED! DO NOT GO HERE!
UPDATE: After this post, they offered to reimburse a tow fee

Horrible customer service!
This place was recommended by a friend of a friend. Seeing as they had only great things to say about it, I thought it was no big deal to get my car fully inspected there. My friend took it in on Wed, and the only major issue seemed to be the transmission fluid and a possible issue with the transmission but they couldn’t say until it was cleaned. Okay, fine. I took my car there today to get it flushed. They told me it would take an hour and a half. Two hours later there were still no updates and no news on what was taking so long. I asked if the transmission was fine, they said that it seemed like there were no problems. Ok. Halfway to my next destination, the check engine light comes on. I called several times that day to no avail, their phone line was constantly busy. Way to run a business. My friend called them that day and found out that «I was in such a hurry to leave» that they couldn’t test drive the car. Are you freaking kidding me? They didn’t even mention or bring that up. This place is the pits unless you are in with the family. Its interesting all the things they told her about the car but neglected to tell me-​the owner. And don’t cross the mother she seems to have been on a menopausal rampage. It was very amusing to see her cutting off customers in the middle of their sentences, barking out demands, and berating little old ladies. I kid you not.

I love Ferguson’s. There are fewer and fewer places like this in Austin. There was a time not so many years ago when most gas stations had this kind of service, now it’s a rare find. The service is 2^nd to none and their $ 7 car wash is the best deal in town. They have brushes and sprayers you can use before you put your car through the Laser Wash/​Dry experience. Arbor Car Wash is more of a full-​service experience, and is great… but these guys are closer to my house and it’s SO cheap. There’s rarely ever a wait, and if there is, it’s usually only one car in front of you. I’ll always get my car washed here, and it’s nice to be able to use water and air and not have to for over 75 cents for 1 minute of usage. I love Ferguson’s!

I live down the street from this place and realized that they guy did he training/​education at Del Mar in Corpus (my hometown). Great service, the staff are friendly and don’t make you feel like an idiot because you don’t know anything about cars. I’ve had flats fixed there, a tail light fixed, and my car inspected. Each time I walked out like I was given a fair price. Gas is a slightly higher (maybe a penny or so) than the Chevron-​Tetco down the street, but this place is really a neighborhood shop that cares.

Ferguson’s doesn’t have Wi-​Fi, a flat screen tv, cushy chairs… no waiting room, really, other than a couple chairs right next to the register. But, you know what? They don’t need a plush waiting room because you don’t really spend much time waiting. I always come here for state inspections and oil changes. Less than an hour later I am out the door for $ 50 (oil change) and getting my car a free car wash. If you ever have to wait longer, there are plenty of places within walking distance to go for lunch or coffee.

I just had a flat tire, called Ferguson. The young man said it would be about an hour, but the man was here in 30 minutes, we were able to drive to the station (after he put air in the tire) and he fixed it. He also put on a window sticker I needed on the front windshield. Everyone was very nice and I think the service was excellent.

Perhaps past reviewers have not had the pleasure to meet James Ferguson. I stopped at this station this morning to put air in a low tire. I had no clue what I was doing, and the two men inside simply gave me a tire gauge and told me I could figure out the air pressure on my door. I was unsuccessful and went in again frustrated and asked if they wouldn’t mind helping me. Their response: «Sorry that didn’t work out for you.» But wait-​i-​t gets better. I went next door to the Texaco station where a nice gentlemen helped me air up my tire. Meanwhile, Mr. Ferguson stormed over to that station, and said that I should not expect «free labor.» Not liking his tone of voice, I explained that I simply stated I would go somehwere else, and that I was happy to receive it from this other station. He informed me that he owns both the Shell and the Texaco on North Hills. Smart move. Now he permanently lost a neighborhood customer to two stations vs. one. The «free labor» was one minute of help to a tire-​challenged female. I call it customer serivce, or helping a person in distress, or being polite. I guess he calls that «free labor.» Pity the person who has a car break down near those stations!

James Ferguson and his wife are the salt of the earth kind of business owners. Last week the Mister forgot to sign his check for repairs to our son’s car. Mrs. Ferguson called and was so cool about it. «I’ll leave it on my desk and he can just stop by when he has time to sign it.» Okay. So, like, in 2095? He’ll have all the time in the world when he’s dust.
The service men (that is so wrong – sounds like military) are always straight forward about any repairs they find. Yeah, it’s going to cost you, but it will be done correctly and on time. What is the PC term for a guy who fixes your car? Repairman? Garage station attendant? Grease dude? Maybe I will name my two favorite «guys who fix cars» here at Ferguson’s, Executive Automotive Technicians. These guys are that good.

After being told the wait for an inspection was 2 hrs at a «chain» service station I drove a couple of blocks and found this bustling Shell station and gave them a try. My in/​out time for an inspection was barely 15 mins at noon on a Monday. No «upselling», just good quick service and straight forward techs. My stepdaughter’s vehicle needed a taillight lens to pass and they offered to order the part. Within an hour of leaving they called with a quote for the lens and labor. No frills family run biz… you are not paying for a flat screen TV and 10 mag subscriptions in the waiting area. Bring your own book and hop over to Murchison if the wait is long. They have my biz from now on.
