J & B Plumbing

Very reliable, retuned my calls and was on time! I recently just bought a house and needed to have a new tankless water heater installed and have all my shut off valves replaced. My tech, Joe, was very knowledgeable at what he was doing and was able to do it in a timely manner which was great because I had an inspection that was coming up and needed to be done ASAP! He followed back up with me a few days later to ensure that everything was working properly. Definitely would recommend and I will be calling him back for any future needs.

Had a water heater start leaking. After I shut it off I requested service from my home warranty (Landmark) and the first guy doesn’t respond. The next day they assign J&B and within a few hours I’m contacted by J&B. I tell them what’s up and they get the info from me on my busted heater and say they’ll pick a new one up on the way. Awesome.
Joe arrives, and is super friendly, but once he saw where my water heater was located he said he couldn’t change it. Dang. He said he’d need to move it to a new spot or figure something else out — he’d work up a quote *that day* and send it to the warranty company. I asked if he could «Tee» off a PEX line from my other water heater so we could wash dishes, do laundry, and bathe the kids in the meantime. He responded that he didn’t have the supplies or tools. I looked at his truck — just an old busted up pickup with junk in the back. What plumber doesn’t have PEX pipe and crimps in his truck?
This is the last we ever heard from ol’ Joe. These guys held my warranty claim hostage for over 2 weeks. They would never get back to the warranty company — or at least that’s what the warranty company claimed (not sure I trust those people either). I do know that none of my repeated phone calls to J&B were answered.
So anyway I ended up hiring a different local plumber who had great Unilocal reviews (Christian @ Adept Plumbing) and he came out the next day and replaced the heater. Cost me $ 980, and Landmark only paid me about $ 411. Thanks J&B! I got to go 2 weeks without hot water in the main parts of the house and pay $ 569 for the privilege.
+1 star for at least being responsive initially and showing up with the new water heater when they said they would. My take-​away is if you have a dead-​simple, cookie-​cutter issue then they’ll likely get it done.

I called them out for job when he came he told me it was something else i said fine ok fix whatever you hv to he told me he needed to go back and get some more tools and never showed back up i called him a few times he said he was waiting on the tool because another one of his plumbers was using it i said cool i waited all day with him giving me all kind of excuses finally he stop answering and never showed back up

I wish there was a ZERO STAR option! I unfortunately have to use them for First American Home Warranty (which I am currently on hold with as I write this review to find another plumbing company). One of our tenants toilet has been running and J&B has been called out twice and still hasn’t fixed the issue. I called them back and no answer, then the home warranty called, no answer again. Today home warranty called all FOUR of their numbers and still no answer. So they actually transferred me to claims to change this company since they are M.I.A. HORRIBLE!

I have had to use Joe for 7 years because he is the plumber that comes up when I submit an issue with First American, my home warranty company. He’s borderline incompetent, often not fixing the issue the first time. I’ve complained to First American to no avail. If you are using First American, Joe is supposed to call you within one business day. He will never call you. You have to call him and explain who you are. When he gets to your house, you’ll think, oh, this guy is really nice. He is really nice. Just incompetent. I now call a different plumber and pay extra just so I don’t have to deal with him.

Zero stars. Stay away even if you have to pay an extra million dollars. Worst customer service. Tell you a time frame and then no show. Then you call and they say oh sorry we will come tomorrow. Repeat again next day. STAY AWAY!!!

well, if i had read all these reviews before i allowed myself to be dragged through crap for the last week, i would have canceled this guy before we even got started. but no. for whatever reason, first american home warranty still has this guy on their speed dial. my ordeal started on a monday, when i noticed dirty water backing up into the guest shower when the dishwasher was running. i have company coming, but not til friday, so no big deal, right? i call the home warranty company, who assigns me this clown. i am supposed to get a phone call in 24 hours, and after i didn’t get one, i called the company and left a message, saying i have company coming, i really need to hear from you, etc. no response. so i call first american, and after a lengthy wait on hold, they tell me they have an appt for me between 8−10am today, which is now thursday. at 10:15am, the guy calls me and says that he is running late and has no idea when he might get to my house. i told him that he is completely unacceptable and i will find someone else. so here i am, almost at friday, and thanks to j&b plumbing and my home warranty company, i have an appt with a plumber just as my family reunion is starting at my house on friday. «every contractor is fully licensed and reviewed» indeed. i told first am that i could’t believe that they continue to use someone that has these kinds of reviews.

They deserve ZERO stars. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had with… well anyone in customer service period. Our home warranty sent this little gem of a company out after we called to report that there was water coming up from our carpet in my newly furnished baby room. a young guy came out named travis, ran around my house, called someone and then decided that our sprinkler system was the culprit to which I told him that they would be hearing back from us soon more than likely. had to call back that night as the water had not only completely covered the baby room but our master bedroom closet as well. The next day the owner of the company who’s name is joe came to the house. I should have been worried when he left his truck running and came inside… he ran around our house, told us that it was a sewer line leak and then proceeded to tell my husband and myself (i am 8 months pregnant btw) that we needed to find the cleanout pipe for him and he would be back to check it to which I reponded «I am eight months pregnant and you want me to find a pipe for you which is your job.» He shrugged his shoulders at me and left. Ended up having to find someone else that actually wanted to do the job and knew what they were doing. the new company came jn and within literally 5 minutes told us it was our washing mashine had the pipe fixed and people on there way to remove our carpet and get the job done. This company was a lot of stress and it just prolonged the problem since they obviousely have no idea what they are doing. Save yourself the headache and get someone else other than «joe blows“j&b plumbing.

F– Fortunately we didn’t have an emergency, however three weeks ago they were assigned to us by our home warranty company.. .. still have not seen anyone, and they don’t return calls. Finally the home warranty company has assigned another contractor.

I have a home warranty and when my tankless water heater started leaking, we called them and they sent J&B plumbing. It was determined that the leak was due to a part and they went in search of it. Several weeks went by and we heard nothing as our heater continued to leak. I had to empty a giant Home Depot bucket of water every day, which apparently wasn’t disconcerting enough to get this taken care of in a timely manner. After about 3 weeks, they found the part. It took another several weeks for it to come in, which I still don’t understand.
So, here we are in December waiting for our problem, which we called about in October to be fixed. They finally get the part and after several days of bullshit, someone shows up to fix it. But, it’s not the problem. The part is replaced and the dang thing still leaks. At this point I am still hauling water, we’re still arguing with this company to get someone out here and the owner tells us «I’m going to make your Christmas, you’re getting a new water heater.» This would be great, except today, the day before Christmas, I am still waiting for someone to come out. They were supposed to be here last week and each time we stayed at home waiting for them, we heard nothing back, no communication. My husband calls, gets no response, calls the home warranty company who gets him to answer. Apparantly, despite the fact that this has taken months, we are not a priority. In fact, they were supposed to be here Friday, didn’t show, didn’t bother to call, all because someone had an emergency so they pushed us back to fix this. I’m sorry, but after all this time, my problem is an emergency. So, now we’re screwed. No one is going to be able to fix this before Christmas, I’m still hauling water every day that I have to pay for, and this guy doesn’t seem to care at all.
Avoid these people at all cost. They will make you miserable, avoid your calls, and leave you with water dripping in your house, ruining your walls because it’s not their problem.
***UPDATE: I believe J&B will no longer be contracted with the home warranty company we use because of our experience. Basically, we were left for 2 days without hot water in January. No showers, no washing dishes, no explanation, no one responding to our calls. He even stopped answering calls from the home warranty company. Obviously, this is UNACCEPTABLE! Again, do not use these folks as there was no concern about the fact that we had no hot water, no communication, and when finally reached they gave excuse after excuse (many of which we knew were lies). I am just hoping at this point to get my hot water back on, because my husband needs to shower!

Worst plumbing service in Austin! They came out and did not return for 3 weeks!

J and B Plumbing was dispatched by my home warranty company but they did not show up and never called me to warn me they would not show up. I scheduled a 2^nd appt and they did not show up then either.

If I could give J & B Plumbing ZERO stars, I would. My home warranty company (First American), who also deserves a poor Unilocal rating for making me jump through all these hoops, dispatched this horrible company to fix my leaky sink. It’s not a tricky fix, but it’s beyond my scope. Travis from J & B came out a couple days later, adjusted something and said that should take care of the drip. I told him I had concerns because it was still dripping, but he reassured me that that was just due to water being in the spout– OK fine. Within a few hours, it was back to leaking as much as before. I specifically had asked Travis whether they have a guarantee in case it still drips, he said yes and that it was 30 days. Great. So, I called them back and told them my faucet was still leaking. Joe, the owner who by the way can’t keep his customers straight said he would have Travis come by. He was a no-​show, so again I called and Joe said he would come himself. He didn’t. I called again. Eventually (and by now it’s been 2 weeks of chasing these guys), Travis came back and spent 1 min looking at the faucet before deciding he needs to order a part and that it would be in the next day. Here we are, yet another week later (3 weeks total of constant water being wasted) and no one has come nor called. I called First American Home Warranty 3 days ago to complain, they called Joe and Joe said he would call me right away. No call (shocking). I called First American again, they call Joe. Joe says they will come today between 11 and 3. 3 pm comes and no plumber, no call. I call First American and demand another plumber, they call Joe and he tells more lies claiming he was coming later. Whatever. Time for the Better Business Bureau and a new home warranty company. Three weeks, $ 60 and three+ wasted days I could have been WORKING later and my faucet is still leaking.

Ok. Here’s the deal. Sometimes in the practice of business, you are going to have complaints and that’s your opportunity to take all necessary action to address such complaints and do right by your customers. That’s called customer service. J & B has NO customer service.
Also when you’re dealing with something such as plumbing which involves some very potentially life threatening elements such as natural gas and flame, you want to make sure that you REALLY know your stuff. That’s call SKILL. J & B doesnt have that either.
Just what kind of business IS J&B plumbing? Well, they are the kind of business that their main goal is to get your money. Sure, they provide a service. But it’s all smoke and mirrors. They might as well installed a cardboard cutout of a water heater in our home because that’s what it’s working order was comparable to. We had to continually call them out for a pilot light that would NOT stay lit. They came out to find that there was a cracked gas line. The owner, JOE, came out to «fix» the cracked line only to leave the water heater re-​assembled incorrectly, thus creating a very potentially dangerous situation and an extreme fire hazzard. He also failed to voluntarily inform ANYONE that this water heater was not in working order. Then after two weeks of J&B avoiding ALL our phone calls, they came out to determine that they installed the WRONG WATER heater altogether. They were supposed to come out this morning and bring a new water heater but instead they came and took the old one out and once again, Joe and his employees are nowhere to be found. We now have no water heater. We’ve been boiling water to wash our dishes and take baths (us and our three children) off and on for two weeks now.
Is this the guy you want working on your plumbing? Eeek, me DEFINITELY thinks not! Avoid at all costs.
I have placed formal complaints on this company through BBB, AG consumer protection AND the state board of Plumber Examiners.
