Hill Country OB/GYN Associates

I am completely disgusted with this practice. In all my years working as a medical professional, I have never experienced or seen such unprofessional and negligent patient treatment. I highly recommend to keep looking for a different office if you are thinking of joining this one.
About a week and a half ago I called with severe abdominal cramping and diarrhea. It took me several phone calls to speak to anyone, and once I did, I was only speaking to a medical assistant, not to my physician although she was in the office at the time, and I requested multiple times to speak to her. In my tears on the phone, I explained my fear to the MA, as I was pregnant, and was very concerned I may have salmonella poisoning. She did not give me any advice other than to wait it out another day. I did not feel comfortable with this advice, and asked to please talk to the doctor again and please have her call me back! Nothing. Then I decided to go straight to labor and delivery, have a culture taken, there are some things you just can’t wait on… This was one of them. I spent about four hours in labor and delivery, and I was never seen by a doctor never talked to a doctor, I was told, she never called the nurses back either.
I was discharged, and told that my lab results would come in within the next two days and someone would call me with those results. Nothing. No call. No call from my doctor to make sure I was OK, and no call from the office to give me any results. I’ve now put in my fifth phone call, begging to speak to someone, begging for my lab results, and no one will call me back.
I really can’t believe this even as I’m typing it, and i’ve never seen this type of neglect in all my years working in OB. I am outraged.

I have had nothing but wonderful experiences at Hill Country OBGYN. The staff is extremely friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Every time you walk in the door you are greeted with smiles and helpful people– I actually enjoy going!
I saw Dr. Hooverman throughout my entire pregnancy and experienced lab work as well as ultrasounds there.
First of all Dr. Hooverman is AMAZING. I cannot recommend her enough. Her entire team is incredible and I almost consider them friends. I had to see her Nurse Practitioner once– she was awesome! I also had to see another doctor in the practice, which I was worried about– but she was just as great!
The lab staff are a hoot and make getting those kinds of tests somewhat fun (you know, considering that you are getting blood drawn).
The ultrasound department made my ultrasounds unique and personal. They spent well over the amount time I expected them to showing me everything and answering any and all questions I had. They also provide tons of photos to take home and keep– which I love!
The offices are beautiful and clean– one of, if not the nicest facilities I have ever been to for my healthcare. They are a little hard to find at first– located behind that giant Goodwill, but once you know where it is there is always plenty of parking.
I love Hill Country OBGYN and would recommend it to anyone!

Less than one star if I could. The wait times are bad to get an actual doctor to see you here, so I saw a nurse practitioner instead. They seemed more interested in what kind of insurance I had than me as a patient. It is quite obvious they are understaffed. The tablets they make you use to fill out paperwork spam you to buy skincare products. When I mentioned to the nurse that I may be allergic to the numbing medicine she was about to use on me, her option was to give me the procedure without it. I had to beg her to call my other doctor to check. It took two office visits just to get BC. I should have run out. I started having side effects and had to go to urgent care because they don’t have quick appointments. Today, even getting my release of medical records was difficult so I ended up having to go there in person. *worst ever*

Do not go here ever. If you value your reputation and credit score, that is. They use wrong coding for insurance claims, knowing they will be rejected and then send you to collections. It is awful. If anyone tells you to speak with Brandi or Gina — RUN FOR YOUR LIFE! AND YOUR WALLET! I was incorrectly charged for services I did not receive and insurance rejected it and I was stuck with the bill, even though I never had the services done. They ruined my credit in the middle of me trying to buy a home. Even my insurance company sided with me and said they were incorrectly coded bills. I have called for six months to get this resolved but all I get are lies. Please, don’t let them ruin your credit and reputation. Now, I am having some health issues and they won’t see me until the insurance company pays the bill that they incorrectly coded six months ago. This place is a nightmare.

I got there early for my appointment. And I ended up waiting over an hr to be seen. I don’t know what order their going in. But it’s extremely frustrating seeing a bunch of ladies coming in getting checked then leave. And I’m just sitting there waiting. Like they forgot about me.
The receptionists are Terrible. They don’t greet people. They don’t smile. They have some attitude. They seem like they hate their job.
Gross Stained green carpet in their lobby with annoying elevator music playing. The bathrooms have hard crusty cloth towels to dry your hands.
Dr.Hart seems nice but she really pushes birth control to where it’s uncomfortable. Makes me feel guilty for saying no. And She’s A bit rude.

I had such an awful and unfortunate experience here. Too many bad things happened to explain everything here. I had recently switched doctors, mostly to be closer to my home since my last doctor moved further away. I had an initial visit with my doctor and had a great appointment. However, when I went back in when I got pregnant, and subsequently miscarried, I had such an upsetting and disappointing experience. From the front desk girl, to the PA, to the nurse calling with test results — it was all awful and such a far cry from what I am used to from my old office. It was an emotional experience to be going through to begin with, but to be met with rudeness and such lack of information, it made it that much worse. I did write a letter to my doctor explaining my experience, really hoping I would hear from her — nothing. I called back 3 weeks later to make sure my letter was received, and I was told that it was received and read, that they tried to contact me via phone and voice mail and e-​mail. I am not saying they are lying, but I never received any of those. I went back and checked my missed calls, my voice mails, my e-​mails, my junk folder, deleted folder.nothing. And was never contacted again. I ended up going back to my old doctor to finish up tests and what not that to be done and the experience does not even compare. I was given all the information I had been looking for (that the nurses from Hill Country were unable to give me to answer questions about test results), all my questions were answered and explained and they told me how they would have done so many things differently than how it had been handled. Such a terrible experience.

I have no idea why so many people gave 1 star. Every person I encountered at the office was perfectly nice and informative. Dr landermeyer (sp?) is great. She’s knowledgeable, kind, takes her time to explain and answer questions, and had an overall excellent bedside manner.

I had a great experience at Hill Country. I went in to get my annual exam and talk about switching contraceptives. The staff was really friendly and the annual exam was super quick. The place was modern and appointment booking was easy. I have no complaints at all!

Great doctors, but absolutely terrible customer service. Their phone system is impossible to navigate and you never get to talk to a human being. Their office is closed over an hour for lunch which is when most of us working folks need to handle things like scheduling appointments. When my teenaged daughter called to schedule an appointment, they were quite rude to her, and when she attempted to call back with her health insurance information, well, of course they were all out to lunch. Why is it so hard for medical clinics to institute decent customer service processes? I’ve been in Austin over four years and still haven’t found a gynecologist practice that I feel good about.

My wife has been a patient for years and the recent experiences we’ve seen made us leave and we’ll never come back. The office staff is far from helpful, our appointment got rescheduled after we had both taken time off work, with no explanation as to the reason why. The staff is not helpful or kind for that matter, and while the Dr may not have been directly responsible, she sure did not make an effort to remedy the situation during our visit. Never again, already found a much better doctor.

So I am fairly new to Austin and needed an obgyn to set up my yearly, I was referred here. The office is very nice but my first appointment was a nightmare. I will be honest and tell you that even though I am 25 visiting the ob/​gyn can very nerve wrecking for me especially in a new city with a new doctor. They did nothing to make me feel comfortable or welcomed when I walked in which at first was off-​putting, front desk staff seemed very cold. I visited with Dr. Hart, my visit went fine, but she just seemed like she was in a hurry. She got a phone call during my visit and had to run off and cut my appointment short but said we were done. She told me that I needed to do blood work. I was given no instructions as to when or where to get this done. I changed and waited in the room for about 20 mins before I just took my paperwork out, I waited outside the door by what looked like a nurses station, several woman who looked like they worked there walked passed me to the back and didn’t bother asking if I needed anything. I finally found someone and they told me to check out at the front. I went to check out and they told me I was good to go, at this point I was just ready to get out of the office. As I headed down the street I got a call from the office saying that I didn’t do my blood work and that I needed to come back. I went back and got my blood work done and I told them that nobody told me where to go for my blood work and that I was told I was finished. The woman at the front desk said «well yeah you were finished here at the front desk but you always wait in the waiting room for them to call you for blood work» let me remind you that it was my first time there, how was I suppose to know that if nobody filled me in with this info.
My appointment was February, I decided to give the office another chance and schedule another appointment to discuss contraceptives with a doctor. I went online filled out all of the information needed to request an appointment, (reason for visit, requested dates, email) when I got a call about the visit the woman on the phone asked me if I was coming in for my annual exam and I had to explain to her that I wanted to come in to talk about contraceptives, just like stated in my request, she then asked me if I had been there before, what doctor I visted, and what location. Most of the time I don’t mind answering these questions but I just feel like it defeated the purpose of my request online and I don’t like wasting my time during a work day.
I did try to give this office a second chance but decided to finally write my review because it seems like they don’t really consider the patients time, or their experience with the office. I will now have to find another office to go to.

My appointment with Hill Country OB/​GYN was my second attempt at finding a doctor in this field since moving back to Austin. The office is tucked away, but once you enter the doors it is very inviting. Friendly front desk staff and lovely, streamlined, modern facilities.
I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Hoverman, whom I believe is relatively new to the practice, and I am very glad I did. She was down to earth, easy to communicate with, and gentle. I greatly appreciated the information she offered to me to make the best decisions for my health and did not feel rushed. I left feeling like I had the opportunity to get all of my questions answered, but was still in and out of my appointment quickly. That says a lot these days of many rushed office practices out there. I will gladly return to this practice and Dr. Hoverman in the future.

Worst experience I HAVE EVER HAD. First thing that happens when you walk in at any location, is you are handed a cup to pee in. Every single time. I can understand this on your first visit, or if you are having issues, but every single time? And then when I did actually have a UTI, the doctor was done with her exam and I had to say what about my UTI? So, are they even looking at these? Or just billing insurance to make more money.
And then there are the nurses. They are rude, and could care less about your issues and concerns. They are always too busy to care about what is going on with you. When a nurse finally got in contact with the doctor, she called a prescription into my pharmacy — that I am ALLERGIC to. That is right there in their records. I wish I had done my research on them first because I have two friends who have also had similar, disappointing experiences. Plural.

I hate to get online and speak poorly of someone, but I feel like I need to write this review to warn others. I wouldn’t want any of my friends or family to attend this practice after the way I was treated.
I started attending the office in June of 2014, and I really liked it at first. Then in January of this year, I lost a pregnancy and was not treated very well at all. I didn’t realize that chemical pregnancies/​miscarriages were very common, but I still don’t think that’s an excuse to be cold to patients. I went in for blood work to confirm loss of pregnancy, and when there I asked if I could briefly speak with a nurse because I was bleeding so much that I wasn’t sure if I should go back to work or not. The lady at the front desk of the Lakeway location was so rude when I asked, so I sat in my car in the parking lot and called and left a message for the nurse and waited for her to call me back. Not sure why I couldn’t just have a minute in the office. Then they never called me about my blood results. I understand that they share blood results through the patient portal, and my new doctor does as well. However I just feel like loss of pregnancy is reason to give me a phone call about my results.
After explaining all of this to my mom and several friends, I knew it was the right decision to switch practices. To further confirm my decision, when I called to have my records transferred because I had an appointment elsewhere, the lady in medical records said to me, «By law I have up to 14 days to fax your records and I will do so when I can.» She said I didn’t fill out the form correctly to let her know I had an appointment, but how was I to know?
I have since switched practices, and am always delighted by the professional manner in which they conduct their business. I am now in my second trimester of pregnancy, and I am so thankful I switched and am now having a pleasant experience!

After living in Austin for almost 6 years, I decided to stop driving to Dallas for my annual exam. I had no idea where to start looking, so I browsed through a list of offices that were in my network and near my house. I stumbled across Hill Country OB/​GYN and decided to give it a try. I’m always super nervous when I go to the doctor, but as soon as I walked in I felt very welcomed. This place is very modern compared to my old doctor’s place. Very modern at Hill Country, but still very inviting. All the paperwork is filled out electronically which makes the process go by very quickly. When I got there the desk worker apologized and told me that their power had gone out so they were running a little behind. However, they still saw me right at my appointment time. Awesome! I saw Doctor Hoverman and she was extremely nice! She was quick while still being thorough. I would recommend her to anyone!

This is my 2^nd pregnancy, and 2^nd time seeing the staff at Hill Country OB. Unfortunately, I will be changing Drs due to yet another last minute notice that Dr Schneider would no longer be able to keep our previously scheduled appointment. This is now the 3^rd appointment in a row she has cancelled. I understand that things happen, but the staff makes no attempt to accommodate a quick rescheduling of appointments — not, «well in 3 weeks we can double book you and hopefully get you in».
The Drs are very knowledgeable, but there is very little respect for the appointment times.
I recommend you do not select Dr Schneider as there’s likely a ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ chance your appointment will be cancelled or she will «no show» — which happened to me after sitting in an exam room for 20 minutes.

I went to Hill Country OB/​GYN for the first time in December for a well-​woman check. Let me say that this review does not reflect the medical competency of the clinic.
I was looking for a feel-​good old-​fashioned friendly place, In my opinion, Hill Country OB/​GYN was the epitome of modern and clinical. From the music to the sign-​in process and history form to the actual exam and follow-​up on blood work, the clinic performed well medically, but without warmth (in my opinion).
I didn’t care for the sign-​in process. I prefer filling out a history form on paper not on a machine which takes my information and puts it directly into a computer. I don’t want my social security number in the computer, and there are other things I’d rather not have in their computer. This means you either leave those things out all-​together, make something up to fill in the blank, or you put them in and take a chance that your insurance company or a computer hack might get hold of them in the future. Also if you make a mistake, whatever you put in the computer is in there forever.
In addition, the doctor (while quite competent) was very clinical. She asked me to do something I couldn’t do and have never been able to do. When I couldn’t do it, she behaved as if I didn’t try very hard. I think I have spinal cord damage which makes this harder for me than others, but her reaction was one of dismissal. Her demeanor seemed rushed but to be fair, apparently she was behind schedule.
When I wanted the results of my blood work, I was told to log into the patient portico. I prefer to have a piece of paper and am willing to drive back to the office to get it, but I couldn’t get it without talking to countless people and jumping through hoops. This clinic appears to be too busy to take care of anything that isn’t routinely done their way.
I think Hill Country OB/​GYN caters more to the 20 & 30-​sometings who prefer interacting with computers and love modern efficiency. If you are more mature and want something a little warmer, you may wish to look elsewhere.

I had my annual visit here for the first time last month and it went really well. This place was recommended to me by my friend and it did not disappoint! It makes me excited for having babies soon! The office space is really big, clean, and pretty. The waiting area is large with lots of seating and areas for new moms and breastfeeding moms. It’s also pretty big once you enter into the back. The building is a little hidden, it’s behind the Goodwill off of Brodie and in the back side of the shopping center shared with Randall’s.
Dr. Chris Hart was my OB/​GYN and she was very friendly and made me feel comfortable. She’s willing to answer any questions and discuss any concerns you may have. She seemed very interested in my needs, which I appreciated. She’s very gentle and quick at performing the annual exam.

I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. I am 23 weeks pregnant and have had to change my entire birth plan because of a complication that put me at high risk. Lakeway Regional Medical is literally a 2 – 5 min drive from my house, but for many reasons I have not been able to get in with their only OBGYN, Hill Country OBGYN. I have now had to call the hospital for a second time to help me iron things out because the office staff after verifying everything and setting up an appointment for me, waiting 2.5 months to see a doctor, just called me the day before my appointment and told me my insurance was wrong and they would not be seeing me. My insurance says the plan is set up correctly on their end.
I hope their doctors are better than their office staff and that the hospital can iron this all out.
Quote from their office manager, «You can go get a different doctor and deliver at a different hospital…» What if I have an emergency or go into labor unexpected… seriously I have to fight Austin traffic and drive across town because you are unwilling to help me figure out what is going on here…
I will update as the situation progresses, fingers crossed things change. The hospital is as confused as I am about this doctors office…

When I came to this office I was reading reviews and it made me scared. I just want to say all those reviews were wrong. The location is a little hidden behind goodwill but it’s very nice. Everything is clean and decorated nicely. This is my first time here so I didn’t know what to expect. Dr. Walker is the best. She is all smiles! Her and Rosie made my experience comfortable and enjoyable. She answered all my questions and made it very casual so I didn’t feel awkward asking.
Can’t wait to come again.
