History
Established in 2008.
In 1999 the master tutor began learning the art of flameworking in Albuquerque, New Mexico. A few years later he took on his first apprentice. He discovered his joy for teaching the art and decided to promote the idea of creating a school of glassblowing in the Austin area. That vision became a reality in 2008 with the help of an avid fan. Glass Monkey opened up their first studio (flameworking) on a 7 acre organic farm in south-east Austin. Since then, we have had the privlage of introducing over 100 individuals to the joy of working with glass. In the last year we have added a new studio to our school. This new studio focuses on furnace working soft glass making vases, platters, paper weights and more.
