History

Established in 1998.

Formed in 1998, Galaxy Theatres, LLC is a fully integrated movie theatre company and ranked (by size) in the top 10% nationally of the Movie Exhibition Industry, according to the National Theatre Association. On the strength of their long term relationships, Galaxy Theatres can assure access to all first run movies available to Exhibitors nationally.

The Company places great importance on the skill and capability of good people. We believe Galaxy Theatres’ continuing successes come as a result of the quality of its people and the mutually supportive environment it fosters. The Company and its people have a reputation and history of award winning excellence. Came to see Captain America at 10:15pm
Arrived at 9:45pm, not crowded and theater was pretty empty.
Free popcorn with check-​in.
Seats need an upgrade, when you sit down it feels like you’re falling back initially cause its so low. The elbow rest is grimey and has no cushion.
Overall it gets the job done.

I had no issues with this theater and they’re doing construction right now. If there’s an issue, there’s no phone reception inside the theater. Got the matinée so it doesn’t get cheaper than that but they told me they give military discounts.

I almost don’t want to write this because I would rather be able to keep this place my secret. This theater isn’t anything fancy even though they do have some DBox seats as well as 3D for some movies. Also, they are renovating half of the interior and bathrooms right now.
There are some pinball machines and games that you can play before or after your movie. This takes me back to the theaters when I was a kid because it wasn’t just about going to the movie. It was a whole night experience and a place to hang out before and after. There is always plenty of parking and some restaurants you can eat at before. Also, there is always seats available. I got opening weekend tickets for Star Wars about two hours before the movie.
They have a Unilocal check in offer that you get a free small popcorn for checking in. The movies aren’t expensive here and add in that free popcorn and you have an affordable date night. The concessions aren’t as expensive as other theaters either but, there isn’t anything fancier than candy, hot dogs, nachos and fried pickles on the menu. They offer a few different types of flavored salt that you add yourself on both sides of the concession stand.
There is only about six or 8 theaters so, there isn’t a ton of movies playing here but, that never bothers me. Also there is a perks card where you earn points that once you accumulate enough can be redeemed for tickets and concessions.
The best day to go is on Tuesday’s when all movie tickets are $ 6.00 all day! I believe they also have matinée pricing on other days as well.

Love how empty the theatre can get during the weekdays! I went this Friday to see Deadpool and it was beyond packed! Definite throwback and nice and small place :)

My my my how times have changed. This used to be my old stomping ground in the late 90s. I visited this theater a handful of times since discovering better theaters etc and here we are on a busy Saturday night, and the line at the box office is till the parking lot. I will try to attach a photo I took from my car. Is there any logical explanation for why they shut down their 2nd box office? Is it to keep us «contained?» I am clueless. Will not be returning here, to say the least.

I took my family here to see private, premier screening of «My All American.» I was here a few times prior many years ago and the place hasn’t had a facelift for those many years. It’s not really the best place to draw in people all over the Central Texas area for a private screening (packed house) when they put us in a theater with broken seats randomly throughout.
The staff seems overly stressed and unprepared for a packed house. I probably wouldn’t intentionally go to this place to watch a movie with my family, especially a hot new release that would sell out. I would be the one stuck sitting in a seat that was broken.
It’s an ok place but very early 1990s in look and feel.

The staff were pleasant, but the theater was disappointing. The sound was too loud, so that dialog regularly distorted. There was a lot of narration that the distortion became distracting with, and the scenes with people arguing were absolutely grating to watch. I contacted the theater afterwards and they suggested that I could have left the theater (and missed part of the movie) to ask someone to adjust the volume. $ 10.25 for this along with an overly-​cold theater? Nope.
I only watch a movie in theaters once every few years, and it’ll definitely be a while before I bother again. I’m surprised these dinosaurs are still in business.

Seriously a no frills theater. I usually avoid going to movie theaters because I am a total weirdo and I hate the smell of really strong buttery popcorn. However the smell wasn’t overpowering. Anyway, back to being normal. I attended my first Elite event here and got to see a screening of Room. The theater was clean and had a pretty decent layout. The concession stand wasn’t ridiculously overpriced and had a variety of items on the menu. I would definitely return to see another movie!

This place is one of the old school, low-​grade theaters of my childhood. Old, old, old. Small theater, crammed seating, lots of terrible seats low and super close to the screen, über expensive concessions…
For the kind of money this place demands you could hit Alamo Drafthouse. I think these theaters are on the way out without some major renovations and for good reason. Technology has just outpaced them.
At the very least, you get to see a movie on a big screen with big sound, so there’s that.

At first glance you might be a little intimidated by this venue. It’s not new and neither is the parking lot; A fresh paint job & new lights would really improve its appearance. This was my first Unilocal Elite event and I’m so happy to have received the honor! The movie was great and the free popcorn was warm, salty & buttery! The concession stand employee was VERY generous. He gave me a free small water, extra jalapenos, extra cheese, a heap load of popcorn, and a small tray to carry it all to the theater. He was polite and didn’t seemed troubled at all by helping me out! Kudos! I received a free popcorn by checking in with Unilocal.I turned around and announced to the line of people that if they did the same, they too would receive a free popcorn. It was pleasing to see the stir that caused :). Movie resolution and the sound were excellent in theater 9. Chair was comfortable enough and the theater was clean. Bathrooms were cleanly as well.

Went to see No Escape in a Unilocal movie screening (which was a great movie) and had a great time. I loved the stadium seating, and friendly staff. Had not been here in 10+ years, and was glad to see it still was going strong, and played great flicks.

This theater is definitely a throwback to my childhood. There’s no fancy bells and whistles but they get the job done.
The staff were very nice, the stadium style seats were comfortable, and the best part– the popcorn was layered with butter, y’all! Why have we forgotten this amazing movie theatre act? Butter it halfway through and butter it on the top. This is what movies are all about!
Also, don’t forget to check in and get your free small popcorn!
I definitely appreciate a simple movie theater. I don’t need the fancy stuff to have a good time. Keep it up, Galaxy Highland!

This is our go-​to when we don’t want to splurge at Alamo or iPic. Their ticket prices are affordable ($ 6 movies on Tuesdays!) In addition:
–They offer a good selection of food
–They have an assortment of flavored seasoning for popcorn!
–Good technology
–Comfy seats
–Clean bathrooms

So this place is good if what you’re looking for is an easy, no frills movie going experience. It was a rainy Sunday and I was on my own to see Jurassic World — so I was looking for something low key and easy to navigate (see: less people).
This was a gem! Yeah, it smells like it was a little damaged during the most recent flooding, but it adds to the afternoon movie charm.
Pros:
The concessions gals know how to do buttered popcorn — like, really get the buttered popcorn. They layer it, and have *fresh* popcorn.
The place is clean, the screens are good and the service is great. This is exactly what I was looking for.
Con:
I paid $ 8 for a ticket and $ 10 for a small popcorn and small coke. Probably normal, but surprised me.

Old seats, Old speakers, weak acoustics, shady red carpets — the list goes on.
Prices are slightly lower than the Cinemarks and this probably also charges less to distributors — so all the B grade stuff is usually running here.
The theater is also not in a great location so hold on to your wallet here. They’ve put in some pop corn machines and some arcade games but it still seems archaic.
The seats can also be wet — so beware.
The only advantage is that it will mostly never be crowded (but thats only becaseu people want to go to nicer theaters).
Sometimes this can be the place where there are some artsy movies playing which dont play everywhere else — so worth checking it out. But otherwise, skip this and go to the Flix Brehouse — its owned by same management, but has way better seats, food and acoustics than even the Alamo.
A perk is when you check in on your Unilocal app you get a free popcorn

Maybe it’s the nostalgia of an old-​school movie theater with cheesy, Vegas-​style carpeting. Or the comfy seats with extra-​deep leg room, so no need to clamber over people to get in/​out of your row. Or the fact that it’s never packed, so you can arrive two minutes before your movie and grab a good seat. Whatever the reason, Galaxy Highland is — dare I say it — my favorite place to watch movies in Austin. Sure, I’m a Drafthouse devotee too, but Galaxy is my go-​to for standard flicks without the extra bells and whistles of pre-​show entertainment and food/​drink. Oh, and if you’re into this sort of thing, my tech-​loving husband tells me that they have superior sound and screen quality.
I docked one star because the parking lot is a little tore up and pothole-​ridden and the bathrooms have the flickering fluorescent lighting of a horror movie and can be hit-​or-​miss as far as cleanliness. Otherwise, Galaxy is my cinema jam.

First Timer:
Came for the movie — stayed for the theater. The place is both well worn and well kept (but so is the area).
Theater — The concession stand looked inviting, but we had dinner before (yes I missed out on the free popcorn). Comfortable seats (for the fat kid in me!) and overall a nice place to kill a couple of hours. The staff was really nice (and not just to me). This place made me miss the Senator Theater in Bawlamer.
My only complaint: I live to far away to come here.

It has been SOOOO long (decades) since I have been to an old skool (yeah, that’s the way I roll) theater! What a treat! Galaxy 10 is shockingly well kept — especially considering the rest of the shopping center that surrounds it. It is clean, not run down, has a neat little arcade area including pinball (yay!), great classic concession stand with that «real» fake popcorn butter that you can asked for extra of (um, that was my husband, just sayin’), loads of candy, and yes, the $ 5 3-​gallon soda that «only costs an extra 25 cents» than the 2-​gallon size and comes with free refills. ;) …and they also have an array of powdered «butters» and flavors popcorn toppings you could want! Cool!
The screening room itself was surprisingly huge and had stadium-​style seating with really comfy, cushy chairs that slightly reclined. The screen itself was extra large and the sound system was very modern and simply fantastic. Highly impressed with the overall experience! If I’m ever in the area, and in the mood to view a flick, Galaxy 10 will be the place for me.
Tip: Check-​in on Unilocal and receive one free small popcorn in the cutest little bag.

The Galaxy is where I go to see a movie when I don’t feel like going to The Alamo Drafthouse.
Honestly, sometimes I want to go to a movie with the old school ‘Mr. Moviefone’ slides, without the goofy hipstery edited videos pre-​movie and without having to worry about what to order for dinner. This satisfies all of those things.
If you want to go to a normal, decent movie theater to see a film, this is a fine place. You really can’t go wrong here… and for making what I’m sure is barely over minimum wage, the staff are always super nice and helpful.
Oh and with a checkin on Unilocal,you get a free small bag of popcorn!
