I can’t stress what a great dentistry practice I’ve found. I’m incredibly grateful I gave Dr. Hage and his team a try.
I previously went to two diff dentist and both times felt rushed and uncomfortable. This dental team was very attentive, listened to my concerns, and provided clear feedback.
Dr. Hage is actually the only dentist out of the ones I’ve seen that suggested an agreeable reason to a previous root canal issue and saved me the loss of a tooth. DeAnna, the hygienist, was AMAZING. She really put me at ease and was very knowledgeable.
I didn’t have to use any anxiety coping strategies here and talked about how I could maximize my health insurance. I’m never moving dentists again!

I love love love excel dental! I’ve always been terrified of going to the dentist but the staff at excel have definitely changed my view! Everyone is incredibly helpful and patient in working with me. I highly suggest going here!

So… having someone else’s fingers in my mouth is simply not one of my favorite things. I even a little uncomfortable with putting my own fingers in my mouth — you never know where they have been! Seriously though, Excel Dental is my favorite place for keeping my smile bright and clean. (I do smile a lot!) The staff is awesome — friendly, professional, entertaining even. Technology is leveraged in every way — from the TV screens all over the place, to the digital x-​ray thingy (probably has a real cool name) even to the digital signature pad at the front desk. They use a chat feature in the office that is really clever — it seems to be a part of their software platform — which is very impressive.
Their appointment software is stellar — great notices and follow up… especially when you make an appointment (It does help to have the correct phone number… my bad :-) They also work very well with my insurance and made a care plan that leveraged my coverage with what I needed to get done… they were very strategic to get as much covered as possible. Let’s face it — it’s about as much fun paying for a crown as getting one. Oh — by the way — crowns in one visit??? No kidding — no temporaries… show up, and leave with a new tooth. I didn’t even know that was possible!
All this talk should not take away from the very personal service. They know me when I walk in, I see the same people there over the last year, and they seem to be genuinely happy to be there. They are a good team of pros, and I trust them working on my money-​making smile!

In response to comments made by Dr. El Hage on my previous post:
I commend the compassionate doctor’s assertion that the practice is run as a business. Kindly let me point out a few inaccuracies or misinformation in your response. In my 45 years of professional life I have never encountered a business that does not inform the customer about the policies (I hold doctorate degrees in Inorganic Chemistry and Business). I was never personally informed verbally or in writing that there was a cancellation fee policy. If the doctor can send me a voice recording prior to the date of the charge or a written consent of such a policy signed by me (Sudhir), I will gladly post it on Unilocal and other social media.
Secondly, I am compelled to address the factual misinformation that there was no medical emergency.
Dr. El Hage, you were clearly, whether purposefully or not, misinformed by your office manager. My daughter made the payment in my presence and she repeatedly stated the term, «acute gallstone pancreatitis». As a medical professional, I trust you understand the necessity of prompt treatment. Perhaps, the gravity of the diagnosis was not understood by your office manager, and that is regrettable. With regards to my wife’s appointment, it was imperative for her to be with me for the consultation with my surgeon. She is my spouse and will be my chosen medical power of attorney should complications arise secondary to my impending procedure.
The very reason my wife switched from her previous dentist to your establishment was due to your flexible schedule and lack of a stringent cancellation/​rescheduling policy. We both, today, strongly regret this decision.
Once proof of the policy of ‘no show charge’ signed or agreed by me and a copy of all written and/​or oral notifications that a fee has been ‘waived’ in the past (as you so assert) is provided, I will gladly post my medical records. I have been evaluated by professionals at all of the following locations; St. David’s Hospital, Austin Gastroenteroloy associates, Austin Regional Clinic, Austin Heart Center and Austin Surgoens. I will gladly provide dates, reports and diagnosis documentation to support my assertions on Unilocal.
Lastly, dear fellow Unilocal reviewers and potential customers, please evaluate my comments once all the information is posted. I then leave it to your best judgement to determine the professionalism of Dr. El Haje and his office staff. Your consideration is appreciated.

Great place. Staff was super friendly and efficient. I was in and out in 45 minutes for my cleaning. Will definitely be returning.

I was very nervous, as I hadn’t gone to the dentist in about 4 years. (I know I know) I had also done my regular panic/​prep session before hand, and read as many reviews about this place as possible. Which is honestly never a good idea. The staff was friendly and helpful. I LOVED the hygienist. Her name is Sarah. She was very knowledgable and also very personable. She was sweet the whole time, even with my mouth being a mess. The dentist himself came in for about three minutes, tops. He tapped on my teeth a little and left. The hygienist explained everything in very grave detail. She showed me pictures, and also showed and explained to me my own teeth. This company also offers its own «insurance plan» which is convenient for people who don’t have dental coverage. It is decently priced and lowers cost for almost every procedure. I didn’t give them a five because I haven’t had anything but a cleaning and an exam. When I do get work done, I will come and change my rating. Hopefully.

My visit was a good surprise. When I entered the building I was helped right away. The nurse that helped the doctor was Great making me feel ok. The Doctor was such a wonderful and Kind man. If I had know that their were doctors like him I would have come sooner. I ask everyone to come to EXCEL DENTAL you will be treated with such kindness.

The office staff and environment has always been so welcoming and professional. From the time I walk into their waiting room to the time I am done, I have confidence that my dental experience will be a good one. The office staff is friendly and helpful, the hygienists are highly knowledgeable and make the patients feel comfortable, and the dentist is personable and truly interested in YOU as a person… not just a patient.

My experience with this dental office was horrific. The dentist himself is very greedy and did not resolve my complaint in any fair manner whatsoever. They handle their business in a very deceitful, fraudulent, unprofessional manner. I was sold a «discount’ bundle package for $ 975.00 which was supposed to include X-​rays, several fillings, a deep cleaning and then several 6 month check-​up dental cleanings. This amount was deducted from my Care Credit Card before any dental work was done. #1. I changed my mind the next day and she would not refund the money as she had promised, as I asked her when I visited the office the first day, may I change my mind tomorrow and she said yes. #2.The discount plan was supposed to be $ 250.00 and my card was deducted over $ 900.00 before any work performed. #3. So i went ahead so as not to lose any money and had a «deep cleaning» haha in the office and it lasted maybe 20 minutes. While my mouth was completely numbed up getting the «deep cleaning» the office mgr walks in the room and says I need antibiotics in my gums and it would cost $ 770.00. I could not even speak but somehow managed to relay the word NO. Why did they not tell me beforehand when I could make a good decision and even speak. Because this is how they scheme to get more money out of you. Just one way, though #4. The office manger would then tell me a different price for a filling every time I tried to get price out of her. She kept saying a higher price each of the 4 or 5 times I asked her. Btw I never did get any fillings promised #5. I kept calling to get an appt and they always had an excuse why they had to cancel and then would not return my calls. #6. I finally got an appt and the Dr. Hage asked me «well what do you want me to do, …he had no plan… no suggestions… he had my X-​rays but was acting like a totally clueless moron. Not a dentist. #7. After the «deep teeth cleaning» I complained my gum was swollen and he looked at it and said «OH NO» and sent me to a specialist that cost me almost $ 200.00 just for looking at my mouth and saying absolutely nothing was wrong (no swelling as Dr. Hage said he saw and said «OH NO») The totally inept dental hygienist apparently inflamed my gums for a few days. The reason I am writing this review is I never received the dental care promised and nothing was resolved and i was treated in a arrogant, disrespectful way after they received my money. They refuse to resolve this matter with me and just decided to keep all the money. I have since called to get some kind of refund and found out they fired the office manager Elaine and I then spoke with the new manager Megan and she told me (her exact words) she is still cleaning up the big messes Elaine made while she worked there. (Dr. Hage seemed perfectly happy with her con-​artist behavior.) Megan then offered me $ 125.00 to settle the matter and I said i wanted to check into something first before I accepted it. I then called her back much later and she said she mailed a letter the offer was only good for 30 days… i never received the letter!!! She never verbally told me this either. So they then refused to refund the piddling $ 125.00. So I am out almost $ 1,000.00 for a 20 minute cleaning session and a couple of X-​rays, and they think this is appropriate business practices. I am next calling the Dental Association, the BBB, maybe small claims court and anywhere else I can find on the internet. It is also the principle of the matter. No one should be treated in this outrageous, conniving way by a business portraying itself to be reputable. Which they are NOT This is my experience and I am very displeased i lost my money and had nothing to show for it. As a final note: a couple of months later I found another dentist, well the new dentist said it did not seem i had received any deep cleaning at all and I needed a deep cleaning before they could proceed with any dental work. So it appears the «deep cleaning» I had at excel dental was completely worthless, just like my whole experience with them.

I would have to agree with Elizabeth, this Dental practice is one of the most laid back (when it comes to up-​selling) and yet efficient I have ever experienced. And that’s over many, many years! The hygienist is the most gentle but effective at her trade. She is also kind and not judgemental. Dr. Hage is easy going and an excellent dentist; as well as a good listener, paying attention to your concerns. And his assistant is very proficient, making them a great team.
His front office staff are always helpful and courteous. All this, and he uses all the latest technology both at check in and «in the chair». I highly recommend this office for any one looking for efficiency and excellent service.

I just had my first appointment here, and so far, so good. There was absolutely no wait, which is great, because I have a life .:-) The cleaning and check-​up were an automatic package, which I appreciate. I’ve seen dentists who don’t clean during your check-​up, and that’s annoying.
Not only did I get a teeth cleaning, but it was about the best one I’ve ever had. No accidental nicks on the gums — very expertly done — she worked really hard, and every single stain was removed. My teeth feel like glass! Very smooth. Everyone thinks I got a whitening, but all I got was a cleaning.
Next, nobody gave me a hard time about my bad habits that cause teeth stains. They knew that I know, and they didn’t try to make me feel bad. They were all just very friendly.
The doctor seemed nice. He made absolutely zero recommendations for giving him more money which is almost unheard of these days. I mean — nothing. He didn’t try to sell me a grinding guard, he didn’t try to sell me a tooth whitening treatment, all those things that every dentist these days tries to get you to do – he didn’t try to get any money out of me at all. He said it all looked basically OK — gave me a little (free) advice about one or two small problems he noticed — and that was it. No salesmanship.
And I was out of there really quickly.
About as well as a check-​up can go, I’d say. Definitely recommending to friends.

I actually look forward to my next dental appointment! Seriously, how many people can say that? I was really impressed with this place. The staff is very professional, knowledgeable and so nice! The dental hygienist made me feel comfortable and answered all my questions. Also Dr. Hage is very personable and I have complete confidence in him as a dentist. I’m so happy my family has found a dentist in our neighborhood!

Since my last review, Dr. Hage has personally seen that I receive restitution for my billing and insurance woes. As stated before, Dr. Hage has been very helpful and personable through the entire ordeal. I have yet to schedule or further discuss repair to my crown, but more confidence has been instilled into Excel Dental.

I moved to Austin about a year ago and had to go through the ordeal of finding new doctors and dentist. I’m a stickler for top quality work and professional service and Dr. Hage and his staff delivered both. I’ve been in for routine cleanings and for a replacement crown, which he was able to do in office! Highly recommend him, especially for those who, like me, are dentistry-​phobic!

I rarely take time to write reviews online, but in this case I honestly couldn’t wait to share my experience as a new patient. I went in for extensive dental work, lots of drilling, fillings, crowns and more. After having a lot of work done in the past, I had the usual anxiety that comes along with a day at the dentist. This experience was by far the best dental experience I have ever had. I left shocked (in a great way) due to the lack of pain and gentle ease that came along with my visit. There wasn’t a single time that I felt physically uncomfortable during the entire procedure. Dr. Hage has an unexplainable technique and pain free gentleness that will land me as a patient of his for life. His staff is nothing shy of top notch either. Their knowledge throughout the pre procedure counseling helped guide me with how to approach all of the work that needed to be done. I’d like to add that I called around for 2^nd opinions and price comparison, and his prices helped enable me to afford all of the work that I really needed. Lastly, the use of modern day technology and use of text messaging for appointment reminders, etc, was a nice approach with my busy schedule. I’m truly excited to tell anyone who will listen to give this practice a shot if you are in need of a great Dentist to call your family care provider!

I had just recently has started seeing Dr Hage and XL Dental recently. I had major issues with my teeth and needed most of them pulled out. Since, I don’t dental insurance, the work I needed was going to be quite expensive. Luckily, I have a sister who works for an Oral Surgeon out of state and was able to have the doc she works for extract my teeth for free. I figured it would have cost close to $ 2000 just for the extractions I needed, not including the denture and whatever else. Since, money was a big reason for not having this procedure done, having the teeth extracted for free was a big help. I ended up coming to Excel Dental because they were the only dentist in Austin that would see me, get my impressions done and send them out of state for another Doc to put them in. In the process of setting all this up with Excel, The secretary Elaine has been very sweet and understanding. The Doctor and all the other Staff members have been very nice. The office, yet small, has a very welcoming feel and it is very clean. I am glad that I had came to here to have my teeth taking care of and will definitely come back for any further dental needs and will recommend others to go there as well.

i purchased a groupon for a teeth cleaning because i lack dental insurance. the dental assistant who cleaned my teeth seemed to be a bit inexperienced. she appeared hesitant at times, like she hadn’t done this often. that’s fine– everyone has to be a beginner at some point. dr. hage inspected my teeth and told me i had 8 cavities. in shock, i sent the X-​rays to my regular dentist out of state. he looked at the X-​rays and told me i had at the most 2 cavities, and that it’s common for dentists to tell you that you need more work done than you actually do. kind of shady…

Have gone to the dentist twice since this visit. Have had 0 cavities both times.

Also went in for the cleaning special and they did a great job! Dr. Hage is a great dentist and so is his staff!

Oh baby I have a clean mouth, thanks to Dr. Hage and his awesome friendly staff. I didn’t know what to expect, since I used a $ 69 coupon for an exam, cleaning, and xrays. I haven’t been to the dentist in years so I knew I was going to have some issues. The hygienist did the xrays and told me I might need a deep cleaning, which was very expected. They didn’t up sell me but told me that I would need a next stage of cleaning and instead of 69 dollars it would cost me $ 109 bucks for this visit. No problem there, they literally cleaned my teeth for about an hour or more. After the hygienist was finished the doctor came in and confirmed that I would have to start having a deep cleaning. He didn’t push other services, just told me exactly what I needed to keep a healthy mouth.
The staff is very friendly, doesn’t judge you for not going to the dentist in years, and just overall nice and professional. I highly recommend XL-​Dental.
