Econo Lodge near The Domain – The Arboretum

This was the craziest experience i ever had in a hotel its run by a racist angry dirty manager that I think his name is patal first off they called the police on me because I left my room key card upstairs when I went to get breakfast I said I left my room key upstairs but had my passport on me and gave it to to them I even pointed to my door and gave them my ID and this ugly rude man named patal jumped like a lion at me and picked a phone up and said I’m callin the police yeah a real piece of you know what so I got kicked out and didint finish my breakfast and I paid for my room and all what a Scumbucket you are mister patal of econolodge on Burnet your employees probably hate you you have no decency and you need to check yourself you rude inconsiderate hateful man for real mister patal you stink. I hope karma gets you. Oh yeah and the biggest reason and craziness is when the cops came they said mister patal calls the police all the time and kicks people out for weird nonsensical made up reasons I have the cops names but won’t put them on here so your a confirmed scum Patal seriously if you stay here you will regret it it’s ran and staffed by certain people that are there everyday and these people are confirmed horrible look at other reviews written by reviewers as rude and unprofessional do you really want to risk it it’s dirty as high heaven this is a dangerous area and that’s correct don’t deny it Northgate apartments which are like a block away are crime ridden just like this hotel from hell econolodge is terrible there is like 4 other reviews that back up my talk come on people giving it five stars FAKE as a duck it’s not even considered 1 star to me thanks to mister Patal oh yeah the breakfast was stale what I did get to eat and bugs bugs bugs this place needs new management or for the current managment to shape up seriously I don’t like bullstuff and no one else does either econolodge we have power understand that I urge other people to stand up and speak out too and write a review also so this will stop you kicked me out at 8 in morning I didint get to take shower ruined my day terrible place for sure karma karma karma please

Good place for a family, great location. Close to many restaurants and highways and major avenues of the city.
Front desk was quite friendly, and I will like to note Cherry’s outstanding customer service skills here.
Rooms are spacious, with a fridge, coffee, offers American breakfast.
Will visit again.

We booked the room and paid on Expedia and EVEN called the hotel, but then after we booked and paid they tole us they would charge an additional $ 75 on our credit card for any possible damages! Really? That is crazy to charge an additional $ 75 up front for a possible charge! Not friendly or accommodating at all!

I paid $ 68 with tax for one night. The manager seemed a little distant first but then kind of warmed up after a little bit. If you are unfamiliar with the location, as I am, is reassuring to know that there are several security cameras that are visible (also reassuring was the manager’s declaration that there were several non-​visible security cameras). I asked if there’d been any burglaries or cars broken into and he said not for 10 years. He explained that he had been the manager of this hotel for 10 years and that there has not been a break-​in in that amount of time. As my attached picture shows, the parking lot is very well lit at night — surprisingly for an economy hotel. There is not a breakfast, but that’s not a big deal given the price you pay. One minor note: if you like to sit in a bed and read, like I do, the bed wasn’t very conducive to that — the headboard wasn’t very comfortable, in fact it was a little bit uncomfortable, so I just sat and read on the couch. Overall I would recommend this to family members who were looking for a cheap stay.

Surprisingly nice for an EconoLodge! The room was clean, updated, and spacious with all the basic amenities.
The parking lot was a bit small and people definitely parked like they were the only ones there.
The front desk gal was very nice and accommodating for a very last minute room request.
Beds were comfy and the pillows were not lumpy, so no complaints!
Definitely recommend for the location alone as it is right off Burnet and 183!

Service from front desk and housekeeping is horrible! Front desk personnel is rude. What place doesn’t give you a receipt upon check out or charges you on your card and says on their computer doesn’t show any charges yet on your bank statement clearly shows they charge. They weren’t suppose to charge unless there were pets or smoking in the room which none occured. Housekeeping: we come back to the room, bed sheets aren’t changed, no extra towels are given, trashed is full and not replaced. The only thing great about this place is the location where it’s convenient for us. I would not recommend staying here nor will I ever return to this place!

I would not in good faith recommend this place to anyone, not even for a night. Not very clean, bedsheets and pillowcases had stains, as did the carpet. Manager is not nice. There is an Extended Stay a few blocks down that costs less, has been remodeled and is safer and better all the way around. We moved to stay there after one day at this flophouse. Also, morning breakfast is NOT good. DO NOT STAY HERE.

I could not be more honest. We had a non-​smoking room it didn’t smell bad at all. There was a super weird stain on the chair, but we put a towel down and it was fine. Internet was fine, streamed a few LoL matches, some other stuff. Its near a gas station, bowling alley, subway across the street, and there is an ihop about a mile or 2 away. It was clean, but the shower curtain was really weird. It didn’t have a liner so everything in the bathroom got wet/​a little damp. It wasn’t super expensive for 2 days and even tho I didn’t pay for it and deal with the front desk they had to be nice and quick because the person who did, didn’t spend more than a minute inside for check in and check out.
Good people, :). Nice stay for the price, decent location.

My husband and I stayed here for a week when we were checking out Austin. We were looking for an inexpensive place to stay. This is slightly more. We found it later in the evening, when we were tired and ready to settle. We knew would be further away from the action downtown by staying here just north of U.S. 183. It turns out most of what we’re interested in is in central, east, south and downtown Austin.
This place is a typical budget motel. Dark, drab room, yet gives you plenty of privacy. There’s plenty of room, enough lighting, all the appliances work well and they have a small refrigerator. No microwave oven in our room. For the amount of money we paid, it would have been nice to have one. There was a hideaway bed/​couch, though we were a little hesitant to sit it. It looked clean, but you never know. There is a decent desk to work at, which we did when it was too late to work at a coffeehouse. The room was essentially clean. Nothing out of the ordinary.

*Several restaurants, including Jim’s Restaurant (locally-​owned greasy spoon/​breakfast) and Trudy’s (Tex-​Mex);
*Several gas stations/​convenience stores;
*FedEx (formerly FedEx Kinko’s);
*A stop on the future Red Line (northern route) of Austin’s Capital MetroRail commuter train, with service slated to begin March 30, 2009.
The owner may not be a people person, but he has hired those who make up for what he lacks. One woman at the front desk was extremely helpful, giving us tips on decent places to eat, enjoy typical Austin entertainment and Austin must-​sees.
