Dr. Bruce Silva

Dr. Bruce Silva was my dentist for 10 years. I loved his dental hygienist Geri (who no longer works here). I had a procedure done and was told my insurance would cover, ended up not the case. His new billing lady was not understanding and rude. I have moved on to another dental office and have been very satisfied.

I hate to admit it, but I had not seen a dentist in 20+ years when I was first referred to Dr. Silva in 2012 by my wife. I thank my parents for their good genetics for getting me through that long lapse in dental care, and am thrilled with what Dr. Silva has done to get me «back on track» these past few years.
I did see the «old office» on one of my wife’s visits (which some reviewers have mentioned as a negative), but my first appointment was at the new office. It is really nice, modern, state of the art, and conveniently located on the 35-​access road. I should also mention that I am so comfortable with Dr. Silva’s practice, I make the one hour drive from San Antonio twice a year.
The front desk staff, insurance people, hygienists and Dr. Silva are all very friendly and professional.
Dr. Silva and the hygienist explained my procedures, treatments, and preventative care very well — I am the type that likes all the details and Dr. Silva seemed willing to go in to depth with me and not rush through the visit. My exam was as thorough as I have ever received. I thought it was funny that one reviewer criticized Dr. Silva for a lengthy exam (not a wait), because to me, this is the kind of time I want my health professionals to take. Getting in and out of the dentist over lunch would actually make me skeptical about the care I was getting.
I have a wisdom tooth that is at a bit of an angle, which Dr. Silva explained was causing some gum recession due to it trapping food. I was impressed that as an alternative to an expensive tooth extraction, Dr. Silva suggested an alternative orthodontic procedure to try to right the tooth (which I started under insurance in January, and the orthodontist told me last week that it is progressing much faster than planned).
Lastly, I found the front office, the follow-​up scheduling, and the courtesy phone call reminders also very nice.
I’m extremely pleased with Dr. Silva and his staff at Austin Première and intend to return as recommended. I would refer them in a heartbeat.

My dentist closed her practice which sent me shopping for a new one. I compared local «in network» dentists with Unilocal reviews and selected Dr. Silva at Austin Premier Dental.
First visit was today. They moved to new offices recently which are top notch. Disregard prior reviews about this. All other facets were very good as well. Intake /​front desk staff, insurance handling, modern equipment, x-​ray tech and Dr. Silva… who gave me as thorough an exam and explanation as I have ever received. Front desk exit briefing, follow-​up scheduling and paperwork was also very good.
All very friendly and professional.
I’m pleased and intend to return as recommended. I also plan to refer someone.

Good service, nice people, but watch out with billing if you have Delta Dental. The initial visit is actually broken up into 2 visits that will code as the same exam with Delta Dental, and you will get charged for the second visit.

I have a decent amount of anxiety surrounding dental visits, so I avoid them, but I had a pretty bad tooth ache and knew my teeth probably needed some work because I haven’t been to a dentist in years. After a recommendation I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Silva. The receptionist was very friendly and scheduled an appointment for the next day. Everything seemed decent, but when I showed up for my appointment things went down hill fast. The office is pretty ancient looking with horribly stained carpets. I stuck around because you can’t judge a book by its cover, or so I thought…
After being escorted back to one of the dental chairs the dental assistant took an x-​ray of the tooth and then left with no explanation of what was going to happen next. I sat around for a while listening to other patients have their teeth worked on because the room I was in seemed connected by a partial wall to another room. Eventually Dr. Silva came in and looked at my tooth for about a minute, and then asked me what type of pain I was experiencing. At this point he spent very little time talking to me from the doorway, as if he was in a rush to end the appointment, but he still managed to make me extremely anxious and confused.
He told me my tooth was cracked, but he couldn’t see the crack so he really wouldn’t know until he started working on it the outcome. He said they could try and salvage it, but then he started listing off ways they could correct the problem if it had to be removed. At this point I was pretty confused and it seemed the dental assistant was too because when he left the room for a second she asked me why I didn’t want to salvage the tooth. He seemed rushed and said the receptionist will handle it from there. She then double checked that I didn’t want a fake tooth and said she would just schedule me for a root canal.
The whole experience made me anxious and a little confused. Maybe this dentist is great for cleanings or people who have no anxiety surrounding dental visits, but for me one visit was enough to make me spend the day frantically searching for another dentist.

I chose this dentist because it is in my neighborhood, and had great reviews. I couldn’t be more disappointed. The receptionist was unfriendly, and seemed to be mildly inconvenienced by our presence. The waiting area was dingy and dirty, and I waited in it FOREVER. Since it was my first appointment, I arrived 15 min early, as requested. I proceeded to wait for 45 min, with nothing to listen to but the sound of someone getting their teeth drilled. Not the best way to relax for an appointment. Finally, I gave up. I left without ever even seeing the dentist. If you are looking for a friendly reassuring staff and a relaxing atmosphere, this is NOT the place.

I will start by saying the dental hygienist is absolutely excellent, she knows her stuff and makes going to the dentist as much of a pleasure as it can be. However, the front desk staff is completely unprofessional and incompetent. I called two weeks before an appointment to cancel. Then got a reminder call from the office about my appointment and called back to remind them I had canceled. Then the day of my canceled appointment got another call from the office saying that I had stood them up. I called back to let them know I had canceled my appointment by phone twice, and the receptionist response was well you didn’t talk to me. So apparently if you choose Dr. Silva’s services you need to find out which one of the front desk ladies is competent enough to handle your reservation, there is only one.

I started going to this dentist in 2006 after seeing Dr Lessner since 1999 because I moved.
The office environment is professional and the staff is attentive. The dentist, whose name slips my memory right now, is friendly and shows interest in his patients. I’m really impressed with the patient focus and care I’ve received.
It’s hard to find a good dentist, so I’m sticking with this office although I’m in Wells Branch.
