Double Decker Austin

Who doesn’t enjoy a good Double Decker bus tour?
I was travelling Austin with my mom (awww) and she likes to do a bus tour to get a feel for the city. Luckily, DDA exists — and I say that honestly, since it’s a small businesses that’s just getting started.
We paid the $ 25 per person to do the full loop, or you can pay more to be able to get on and off again. This is a little high for a two hour tour but it was nice.
The loop was excellent. We saw all of the city, got interesting historical facts and stopped at stops where people would want to go.
Right now, they company only has one bus. Unlike other cities, where hopping on and off happens all the time, you really have to time this one right, as it only will come by about once an hour or so. So it’s less of a hop off and hop on, and more of a hop off and then hop on at a really specific time or you’re kind of screwed.
Still, it’s a fun way to see the city, and as a tour around Austin, I feel like I know the city much better now.

Such a fun & informative tour. We have been to ATX many times & wanted to try something new… we were not disappointed. Highly recommend especially if you don’t want to to drive to the local haunts… just jump off, explore, & jump on again in a few hours. Plus it’s a local run company… a plus for me.

Laura and Chris are a great team. Chris expertly maneuvers around low branches and is a gentleman helping you on and off the bus. Laura is just a lovely host and tour guide. The sun is pretty powerful so umbrellas are provided.
We hopped off at stop 5 for food trucks and this was a bad decision. We should have stopped at 4 in SOCO. Not a whole lot to do at our stop and killing two hours was hard.
Because this company is so new the time between drop offs and pick ups is two hours. When they have grown and added additional vehicles to their fleet that time should be shorter.

This was an excellent tour and very informative. They were also very hospitable as they offered water, sunscreen, spritz bottles etc. Would recommend this tour to any Austin newcomers.

The best way to see Austin! Over a holiday weekend, I got the honor of meeting two great ladies operating the Double Decker Austin bus, Buttons and Yvonne. I boarded at the Austin Visitors Center for the two-​hour tour. The tour guide was extremely courteous, thoughtful, funny, and informative. She seemed like she really loves Austin, especially since she said she want to high school there. I was offered cold water, sunscreen, and a cold towel throughout the tour. As the brochure cited, the tour bus stopped at five locations allowing riders to hop on or hop off if that is what they paid for. Along Congress, people atop bars and restaurants waved at us. Same for along 6^th Street. We had to duck down when tree branches were near, but the driver did such a great job moving slowing through them.
I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Austin, especially for the first time.

In town for vacation and found this tour when we stopped at the visitor center. Riding on the dble Decker bus was a blast. The driver, Steve, did an amazing job weaving thru the sometimes very tight austin side streets. The tour guides were very friendly and knowledgeable of the city; giving nice tips for sites to see. Free water, suntan lotion and cold wet towels was offered throughout the trip. We did the 2 hour tour but you could pay for one called an «on and off» tour which allows you to hop off the bus at any site you choose and hop back on after dining or shopping. Would definitely recommend it.

This tour is recommended for those who have limited time in Austin. It was an informative 2-​hour tour with Button who was a friendly and energetic guide. She not only provided descriptions of the sights but also interesting facts about the city like bats there and other tibits. She also doubled as a welcoming hostess who checked in often to ask if we needed more water. I also liked the Austin music playing in the background.

Only in town for a short business trip and was by myself. This tour was a great way to see the city and get some recommendation of where to go. I suggest you start early so you have time to explore.

We had SUCH a blast on our Double Decker Austin tour! At first we were concerned that the cooler weather would make riding on top of a bus less than enjoyable but Double Decker had tons of warm blankets AND hot chocolate that was at perfect drinking temperature. The actual tour was incredibly informative, even we locals can learn a thing or two! And most importantly, the staff was amazing. Our tour guide, Lora, was witty and smart. She encouraged questions and always seemed to have an answer ready. After the tour we stopped and talked to one of the owners and she was just as kind as our tour guide! Easily one of my top Austin experiences, and I’ll certainly be back once the weather warms up!

I did the hop on hop off. It was a great way to get to see the city! I got off at the state museum spent 2 hours, plenty of time then got back on for the rest of the tour. Both guides were great., I learned a ton and got hot cocoa:) a must do
Next time, I would take the 1030 from the visitor center, do the State museum get back on and go to Sono the for a late lunch.

This was the best thing we did on our trip to Austin. The route takes a tour throughout Austin, stopping at five points where you can hop off for a few hours and explore, then jump back on. Brandi, the host is very informative, answers any questions one might have. and is fluent in the history and ins and outs of Austin. I am very, very glad we took this tour.

A great inexpensive way to see Austin, TX. Very informational and family friendly. It was also nice that you could jump on and off at different places and pick up later, when the bus comes back around. Highly recommend the tour!
