Specialties

Life casting is the process of taking an impression of a person (be it portrait casting, belly or maternity casting, hand casting, etc.) and creating a one of a kind work of art that is unique, elegant and timeless. We create one of a kind works of art to immortalize the special moments in your life. Anything from pregnancy, anniversaries, engagements, new babies, birthdays, and more can be commemorated with custom life casting. Sculptures limited only by your imagination can be created of you and your loved ones.

The types of castings we offer are: Maternity castings, Couple’s Hand castings, Portrait castings, Infant hand and foot castings, Mother and Child Hand castings, Father and Child Hand casting, specialty hand casting, specialty body casting, pet castings, and more!

We work with you to come up with the right casting and finishing options so that you end up with an heirloom that lasts a lifetime. Castings can be done over skin or clothing, and are completely natural and non toxic.

History

Established in 2010.

Custom Life Casting was started by Life Caster and Sculptor — Chris Guarino in 2010 in Denver, CO. The majority of the life casting work done in Denver was Maternity (Belly) Castings and castings of Infant Hands and Feet. Custom Life Casting also did some work in Denver’s special effects makeup industry, and did several body and face casts for prosthetic makeup application. From there, the company moved to Chicago, IL and continued to provide its clients with top notch casting and sculpture work by adding the option of Bronze and Silver Castings.

In 2015 Custom Life Casting moved its main studio to Austin, TX where it continues to provide Maternity, Body, Portrait, and Hand Castings as well as Sculpts for the SFX Industry. Several times a year casting trips are taken to Denver and Chicago to service clients who are not in the Austin Area.

Chris Guarino has been working as a sculptor and life casting artist since 1998. His work has been shown in fine art galleries from San Francisco to Berlin, and featured in numerous publications and motion pictures. In 2009 he was named as 5280 Magazine’s Best Local Artist. In 2011 his work was chosen to be included in the fantasy compilation book «Spectrum 18,» and in 2013 he was given the honor of casting the face of World War II Veteran and Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient George Sakato for The International Life Cast Museum. His sculptures and life casts have been commissioned by large corporations, as well as private collectors, and adorn the homes of professional athletes and fellow artists alike. In the summer of 2015, Chris was commissioned by the Dana Hotel in Chicago to create a life-sized meditative sculpture for their main lobby. Check out the «Specialty Castings,» where he goes beyond the realm of traditional life casting to create a truly unique work of art.
