Covert Buick GMC of Austin

We bought our Acadia Denali from Covert this August. I recently went in for a routine oil change and tire rotation. I was treated promptly and courteously. I felt as though I was their top priority. Thank you, Covert staff for such a pleasant experience.

Completely rude and clueless staff in the service department. While I was there for my appointment, they actually lost the keys to a car. I will never return here again.

I recently had my 2012 GMC Yukon serviced at your dealership. Nathan Townsend was my service advisor and I brought my vehicle in to have two items looked at/​repaired and the 50k mile recommended service (s) done.
During the time my vehicle was in Covert’s possession, and up to the initial price quote for the service charges, Mr. Townsend communicated to me exclusively via text message. Once a service technician was able to diagnose and propose any service repairs, Mr. Townsend asked if he could call me to give me a quote. Mr. Townsend quoted me approximately $ 1150 for the repairs that were needed to my vehicle and asked if it was okay to proceed. I gave him my permission. When Mr. Townsend initially called, he failed to mention that my battery also needed replacement and promptly called me back to tell me that the quote included the replacement of the battery and if it was still okay to proceed with the repairs. I asked him again to verify the $ 1150 charges, which he did.
Mr. Townsend sent me a text message to tell me my Yukon was ready to be picked up and asked when I would be available to come by the dealership. When I went to pick up my Yukon and pay for the work done, my bill was not the $ 1150 charge I was quoted but $ 1850. This was a $ 700/​61% increase from what I was anticipating and quoted over the phone. The cashier went to find the service manager/​Mr. Townsend to find out about the discrepancy. Mr. Townsend came out, apologized for the misunderstanding and told me he correctly quoted me the $ 1850 over the phone; once on the initial call and on the call back concerning the battery replacement. I told him this was incorrect and that I had asked no less than two times the quote was for $ 1150, which he denied.
While the repair work that was performed on my vehicle was exceptional, the customer service I received was less than stellar. As a first time customer to the Covert brand, I must admit that this interaction has caused me to doubt its integrity and devotion to customer satisfaction. Furthermore, I am not inclined to use this dealership for any additional service or vehicle purchases in the future.

I bought a 2016 Buick Verano on 9÷30÷2015. The sales person was awesome the only reason I bought the car. After a week I noticed a small blemish while washing the car. Later the paint started peeling. I went to the service dept, they were not as nice as when I was walked through there when buying the car. The service manager said nothing they could do. I think they touched it up before selling it, he pretty much said it was my problem. Actually we bought two 2016 Veranos that day. My wife’s car had rust spots. They rubbed them out, now there are darks spots where the rust spots were. I’m giving 2 stars because the sales man was great. Wish I would of took my service to a dealership that cares. Two 2016s with blemishes.

Ryan in service was fantastic. After a few terrifying experiences with Autonation Chevy down the road, I’m glad I chose Covert for service. By far my best service experience ever!

Got a great deal, and am happy with my GMC Sierra SLT. My sales rep Chris Carrillo made it very easy to get what I want at the price I wanted.

We had a HORRIBLE used car buying experience with Covert — we were sold the wrong car trim under false pretenses by the sales manager, Jamie.
DETAILS:
We were looking for a smaller car with good features. After much research, we had narrowed down our choice to a 2013 Chevy Cruze 1LT with a turbo-​charged 1.4L engine and cruise control.
We came across a listing by one of the Covert dealerships on
and my husband reached out via the CarGurus web site to see if the car is available for a test drive and purchase.
Mark Reiland, one of their sales reps, sent back an email confirming its availability. My husband asked to confirm location and working hours and Mark realized the car wasn’t on his lot so he said he’d locate it the next day.
Next day came, and no follow-​up occurred, so my husband called again and was told the car was at the Covert Buick GMC dealership on Research Blvd.
We went there to test drive and buy the car on the spot (that was the plan) but the sales rep, Bernadette, informed us that Mark had provided incorrect information and that the car was actually at the Bastrop dealership.
She then mentioned they just got in a different Chevy Cruze that day and that we could consider that instead if we wanted. Having wasted 2 days already trying to buy the original listing, we said fine and went to test drive.
My husband wanted to confirm this was a Chevy Cruze 1LT, not LS, so he asked if this car had cruise control. The sales rep pointed out the lever that had «set/​clear» on it to the left of the steering wheel and said the thought this was cruise control.
This was mistake #1 on our part, believing without testing it.
The car seemed fine otherwise but it was priced $ 1.3K more than the original one we came in for so we said we’d rather wait for them to get the original car we came in for anyway.
Jamie, a used car sales manager at this location, stepped in and said he’d give it to us for only $ 300 more than the one we wanted, even though it had fewer miles on it.
This seemed a little too good to be true to us (we didn’t even intend to negotiate) but we said yes. However, when they brought up both the CarFax and AutoCheck reports, both of them stated this car was the LS trim, which lacked both cruise control and had a less efficient, weaker 1.8L engine.
That’s when Jamie quickly fabricated a lie: He claimed that the manufacturer must’ve recorded this wrong at the factory and he showed us their own inventory screen claiming it was an LT trim.
I don’t know why we believed that a used car sales manager would be more trustworthy than the manufacturer’s info, but he seemed friendly. That and our belief that the car had cruise control, made us believe him. HUGE mistake #2.
Ultimately, we picked up the car the next day and drove home. This was the first time my husband drove this car (he had test-​driven another LT at another dealer the week before) and he couldn’t find the cruise control while driving. After taking a close look, he realized the «set/​clear» lever was for controlling the trip computer.
He called the sales rep the next business day to report this problem and she mentioned she didn’t mean to mislead us and that she went by what by the info her manager Jamie said about the car trim. She said she’d talk to the sales managers and see what they can do.
2 days later, my husband called again and the sales rep was basically saying «you saw the paperwork and yet you paid for it. No returns». I know that, legally, we’d already been duped, but we were planning to use them for service for our two GM cars and my husband was trying to get off the warpath so he offered that maybe they can at least match the original car price by refunding $ 300. It was meant more to get a gesture of goodwill from them (proving it was a mistake) as well as for us to feel that we didn’t pay more for the lesser car. However, the sales rep, said that was unlikely but she’d have a sales manager look at it and call us anyway. We tried a couple of times more but Jamie never called or returned voice mail.
At this point, we have learnt three important lessons that I hope other Unilocalers can take to heart, too:
1. Never use Covert for any future purchase and not even service.
2. Never let a used car salesmen pick a car for you because they can trick you into getting a car you don’t want. Stick with what you originally picked.
3. Never ever believe that a car salesman has more accurate information than what you got, or that they’d automatically give you a good deal without even negotiation.

Gave me a loaner. Kept me informed on repairs. I’m happy with Covert.
No free latte’s so no «5 stars.» Better waiting room experience only thing lacking for 5 Stars.

I bought my Chevy Cruze from here and had an amazing experience with that part. I’ve had the car for 2 months and brought it in for some issues. The customer service was great, everyone was really nice however they had me set up an appointment to drop off my car and didn’t even LOOK at my car until 2 weeks later. I had a loaner but what I spend on gas in a 3 – 4 week period on my Cruze I spent in one week on the loaner. It would have been more convenient and cheaper for me to drop off my car when they actually had time to look at my car, especially since it literally only took the guy 5 hours to fix the issue.

Bought my Chevy Tahoe at Covert Bastrop and had THE best experience. Servicing it for the first time at Covert Buick/​GMC of Austin — not so much. The Service Advisor, Nathan, and woman who finished up my paperwork after the work was completed, deserve 5 stars hands down. Receptionist when booking the appointment when I asked about a loaner was less than stellar. Being the first time using Covert GMC for servicing I asked about a loaner and was told (in a somewhat condescending manner) «loaners are only given to those for work which takes longer» but she couldn’t give me an example when I asked what that meant… end of conversation. First-​world problem, I totally get that… simply thought the conversation could have come across better — especially for a first-​time customer in hopes of repeat business.
The actual maintenance and Nathan keeping me updated on the status of my truck, was great.

I have bought over 15 vehicles from the Coverts over the years and purchasing a car from these guys has always been a great experience. I’d recomend Josh, Ricardo, Cory Covert and his team to anyone looking to buy a car without the pain and hassle that most people fear. They are definitely the best in the business! –Jas

Just bought a lovely new Enclave through Josh Lester. I was referred to him and he actually came in on his day off, made the whole process easy and was able to track down the model I wanted, brought it in and had it ready in a day. Josh was less salesy and more focused on just providing great service– which made my decision for me. I am a huge fan of my new car and of the slarmy-​less service I received at Covert!

Another visit, same result. Covert thinks I’m retired, with plenty of free time, and I conveniently live next to the dealership, so it’s easy to come in more than once. This time, I had received a few recall notices on my Buick Rainier regarding an electronic module in the door. I called to make an appointment, and during the call Covert confirmed my VIN number. I showed up this morning to have the part replaced. As it turned out, they needed my vehicle so they could physically see the part to get the part number. And they needed the part number so they could ORDER the part. They were going to order the part today, and it would be at the dealership tomorrow, when I could visit the dealership AGAIN to have the part replaced.
My questions:
1. Would they not know the part number needed from the VIN number?
2. If you are going to order the part, and it will be at the dealership for installation tomorrow, it must be local. You knew I was coming, but you don’t have the part in stock. Even if you have my VIN number but don’t know the recalled part number, would you not have a few in stock?
3. If the part is local, why not have someone go pick it up? I took the whole day off. I’ve been to Covert enough to know that I should plan on spending a good part of the day there.

Covert GMC released my vehicle to me with no Differential fluid, causing my front end to seize bringing me to a dangerously uncontrolled stop and causing thousands in damage. Covert refuses to cover the cost of repair. Forced to take legal action.

Josh Lester. In case you don’t want to read this entire review, I have given you all the information you need in order to walk in and have a successful transaction at Covert Buick GMC. Not to knock the other salesmen but I’ve received nothing but stellar service from Josh.
I called ahead of time after hearing about Josh to request an appointment. He could see me at 11:00 — I showed up an hour early knowing I would probably have to want to talk to someone else. Nope. They walked me over to Josh I explained that I could only see him at 10am and he told me «ok, let’s do this!» I explain to Josh that I had previously walked out of five dealerships over the past six months. He assured me I would not be walking out of a seventh.
We test drove a Buick Enclave and an GMC Acadia. We talked about the differences at great length and I felt comfortable in choosing the Buick. We talked about buying vs leasing, too. He told me he was going to work some numbers and I could go home. We did the rest over the phone with the financing department ((specifically Drew Barker — again — outstanding service)). I told him what I wanted to spend and he came in $ 30/​mo less. The next day I signed the paperwork, handed over my trade in, and drove away in my new Buick Enclave. A week later we went back and purchased a Dodge Charger for my husband. Easy. Josh and Drew made it EASY to switch into great cars… Something I had been trying to do for months. I encountered the crappy tactics car salesmen are known for at all of the other dealerships up until I met Josh.
My husband wasn’t going to trade in his car for awhile but after spending time wit Josh and Drew he went for it. No gimmicks. No slime ball salesmanship. Josh is a real person and he knows a lot about cars.
I would ((and will)) tell everyone I know about Josh’s services. He went above and beyond to make me happy and get me exactly what I wanted. I couldn’t be more thrilled with the exchange. I look forward to giving Covert my business for a long time to come.

I’m a longtime customer of other Covert dealerships, so I thought Covert Buick would provide the same professionalism and courtesy.
Nope.
I went in to look at at buying a car, and told the salesman that I had the trade-​in estimate from their own web site, as well as a trade-​in offer from Carmax.
After 2 hours (!!!), the salesman — without apology for keeping me waiting — tells me they’re offering me $ 7000 lower than their own web site trade offer!
Thanks but no thanks! The «hold the key hostage» game is so old school car salesman slimey. I marched off, but showed him my Carmax offer at which point he said they would match it.
Too late. No need to reward bad behavior!

Came in on Memorial Day weekend. Had the best car buying experience ever. (Granted I did have a «pre-​approval» letter from Capital One.) Brad Townsend was awesome. He was engaging, funny, helpful, no-​nonsense… everything we wanted. Annnnndddd, the car that I selected wasn’t on «his» lot, but next door at Covert Cadillac. He transitioned my paperwork over there without a hitch and I got my adorable apple red FIAT 500 Sport! (For several grand less than KBB price! Shhhhhh!) Really though, I can’t recommend Brad enough. He kept us laughing the whole time. And his wife Cathy works there, too. We had the pleasure of spending time with them both and thoroughly ENJOYED our car-​buying experience. (This is coming from someone who had so much anxiety the last time I bought a car that I CRIED and needed an anti-​anxiety pill!) I wish more salesmen were like Brad.
I’d like to mention that a few days before this great experience, we went to Covert Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram on Research Blvd and received the opposite treatment. Fred Anguiano was totally unhelpful and seemed uninterested in selling us a car!
Bottom line… Go see Brad at Covert Buick GMC. If you go somewhere else and don’t get warm-​fuzzies, don’t settle! The salesman for you might be over at Covert Buick GMC!

Buick does a good job, although the pricing and wait are a bit high and long. I almost always end up having more done to my car than I intended and paying more than I wanted, but they do a thorough job and even vacuum and wash my car.

I have had to take my car into Covert Buick numerous times over the 12 years that I have owned it, but every time I have had an incredibly pleasant experience and the service staff has been exemplary. They have always been upfront and very clear on what they were going to do and how much it was going to cost. Highly recommend them.

I called GMC service in regards to a window issue on my 2005 GMC Sierra. I have previously replaced the window. It just fell out AGAIN. When I described that to the first woman named Michelle, she tells me, «sounds to me like you need a new truck.»
Excuse me? No, I don’t. I need a new window.
She then told me that I would have to bring it in to figure out exactly what was wrong… (how many times have I mentioned that I need a new window?) That visit was going to $ 129 to LOOK at a window hole where a window USED to be .
This is not the end of the horrible experience. No, Michelle transferred me to the service guys so I could describe to them what happened so they could better help me… I was on speaker phone because after I explained my issue, a gigantic burst of laughter exploded into the phone along with a, «I have never heard of a window just falling out…»
I went elswhere, I have a new window, and it didn’t take 3 people on the phone to make that happen.
