These cupcakes are the bomb! I mean they look amazing and they do not disappoint in the taste arena either. No dairy. No eggs. No worries. One hundred percent plant based deliciousness! This was my first time in but I will be returning! Friendly staff in a homey environment. Good price range as well! Lower price point than most vegan goodies and much tastier! Check em out for sure!

Decent cupcake but they don’t carry most of thier menu on a Saturday night at about 630… will not be returning.

I don’t think I have ever had something here I didn’t like. The food is great, the employees are always helpful and service is prompt. Bonus that it is all vegan.

I gave them three stars because they were absolutely rude to me about being a vegan only Bakery. Although the coffee was the best that I’ve had in this city. And the carrot cupcake was so moist I will probably have dreams about it. If they weren’t so rude in the beginning I would have gave them 5 stars for sure. Maybe you could learn a lesson on being a bit nicer to your customers.

being best friends with a vegan and a vegetarian has it’s advantages, and this place is one of them. I tend to stick to a more paleo-​inspired diet than anything else, so vegan cupcakes and treats are right up my alley (who needs dairy?). I’ve been to this place multiple times to get surprise treats for my vegan friends, and had yet to try one for myself (though they RAVED about how delicious they were). Then… yesterday happened, and it was my turn to let myself try such decadence. and… y’all…it did not disappoint. probably one of the best cupcakes I’ve ever had, also you can’t be mad about anything that has sprinkles in/​on it (talking ’bout you, confetti cupcake).
Their rice crispies are to die for as well, and you can never go wrong with coffee. best staff – so chill yet responsive. Love this place. Love local. Love Austin.

Amazing place! Amazing cupcakes! I am not vegan so I was skeptical about trying this place but after trying the Mississippi Mud Cupcake i was second guessing that maybe becoming a vegan wouldn’t be so bad lol but in all seriousness the staff & food were amazing! I highly recommend CCB!

Small, but pretty cool location. Seats outside, but not much space inside. A quick go to spot to pick up & go; which is fine, because you may be unable to stand up after eating all of their yummy treats! Nice variety of cupcakes and cookies. Their ‘Short Stack’ (maple & blueberry) cupcake is divine! My favorite one by far! Frosting on top with a dip of maple syrup in the middle, very moist w/​blueberries and maple syrup in the center cupcake. Yum. I also had their cherry, peanut butter and strawberry cupcakes. All good. Friendly staff too.

Overall, this place is great! Whether you’re vegan or not, this place is for you. Capital City Bakery is proof that vegan desserts can be just as good as anything non-​vegan. If you’re vegan, this place is a must, if you’re not, you should visit for sure!

This review is only based on the line we saw when we walked and realized that ppl had been waiting for 2 ours for they Fat Tuesday beignets. We decided not to wait, so again this review is only to show that many ppl must think it’s good enough to stand in a crazy long line. Maybe next time

Vegan desserts can taste just as good or better than non-​vegan desserts in most cases, but that wasn’t my experience at Capital City Bakery. Being from a place with no vegan bakeries, we were excited and tried several items. None were amazing. All were mediocre and one item wasn’t worth finishing. I’ve been vegan for almost 10 years and while we don’t bake a lot, my wife and I have made treats considerably better than anything we tried at CC. The rice cereal treats were dry and slightly stale, and the sugar cookies were underbaked, lacked flavor, and were under-​iced.
The selection was quite small for a place that is solely a bakery. But the real kicker was that it was not clean. The amount of crumbs on the table and floors made it seem like the place hadn’t been swept in many days. The display case was heavily smudged and unattractive. And the bathroom was pretty gnarly.
We were really excited about trying this place, but to say we were underwhelmed would be an understatement. I honestly don’t know if we’d give it a second chance. Maybe it was an off-​day as many of the previous reviews are glowing… But that level of dirtiness doesn’t appear in a day or two; it was accumulated.
We went to a certain vegan ice cream parlor where everything was delicious, though.

I tried this place killing time waiting for Bufalina to open for dinner. I’m not a vegan so I didn’t come specifically for that reason. I thought the place had a cool feel walking up. I think it was an old house converted into a business. There was a small seating area to the left. They only have about 6 different flavors of cupcakes to choose from. We ordered a pistachio rose water and a chocolate peanut butter. The presentation on the cupcakes was nice. Now to the bad part. The flavor on the cupcakes was very bland. I could barely taste any pistachio and if I were given the cupcake and told to guess the flavor I probably wouldn’t be able to. I tried the peanut butter one with the same result. I’m not sure if this is because of the vegan aspect, but they basically tasted like something I could make at home from a Betty Crocker box, just without the nice presentation.
I really wanted to like this place, but don’t think I’ll be coming back.

Vegan cupcakes? YES PLEASE!
I passed up the location looking for parking here’s a note — parking is behind the building, drive slowly there’s only enough room for one vehicle to enter.
I arrived close to closing time so I didn’t expect a full display but luckily there was 1 carrot cake cupcake (my favorite) left. I also purchased a peanut butter crunch.
The carrot cake was Fantastic! Moist and flavorful even the icing had spices in it. I found it to be a little too much icing but hey, you can wipe some off (which I did)
Now I absolutely LOVE peanut butter possibly more than carrot cake but. this cupcake left much to be desired the peanut butter flavor was not captured at all.
I will go back to fulfill my carrot cake cravings

My favorite bakery in Austin. A charming little bake shop, with truly talented bakers and baristas. They serve up truly amazing vegan creations… and there are SO MANY out-​of-​this-​world cupcake flavors, that it’s actually impossible to choose just *one*. There’s always something new to try! I’m not ashamed to say that I have take a box of cupcakes home whenever I visit. Once you taste them, you’ll understand. Some of the best cupcakes I’ve ever had, vegan or otherwise. Please do yourself a favor: visit Cap City and treat yourself to some cruelty-​free treats. You can taste the love baked in. Also, try the kolaches. Take one home for later. You’re welcome.

«East Side Charm» little old restored house, cute front yard with seating, across the street was a family garage sale and Juan in a Million Taqueria, and next door was the East Side Art Crawl and an old school laundromat. A dad and baby daughter riding bikes pass and then turn around to come in. Feminists having cupcakes in the inside dining room. Just one nice/​polite person behind the counter. The soy chai latte with a vegan carrot pumpkin cupcake was exactly right for this moment.

I really wanted to love this place. At least once a week, I passed the adorable Tiffany blue house that hold this little bakery and thought I have to eat a delicious cupcake on that adorable porch. Unfortunately, the mediocrity of my peanut butter crunch cupcake didn’t live up to my dreams of what this experience would be. To make things worse, the porch ceiling and walls were covered in cobwebs and small trapped bugs, which only made my so-​so cupcake even less appealing.
One plus is that the guy working the counter was super helpful, but that’s the only positive I have for this review. Perhaps, I’ll give it one more try and hope I just caught them on a bad night.

AMAZING. 10 stars? Wish I could. It’s like I died and went to baked goods vegan heaven. Jah has truly blessed us with a place like this.
We’ve used this place for our wedding, our baby’s birth, and recently for the baby’s first birthday party. Every time it seems like the cake and cupcakes are better and better.
The cupcakes are dense, moist, and luscious. The frostings are luxurious and rich.
The kolaches are amazing… I wish I could have hem daily.
The cheesecake is so thick and delicious I generally can’t even get a whole piece down in one sitting… Which is perfect for my midnight snacking.
Also, this business is vegan straight edge owned, which is important because you don’t want stoners baking your desserts.

I really enjoyed their blueberry cheesecake. I ate the blueberry topping and then tried the cheesecake. When it comes to vegan cheesecake, I insist the best flavor is plain. Their cheesecake separated from its blueberry topping was delicious. That was the test for me. I would have tried one of their funfetti cupcakes too but me not pig.

After a delicious dinner I made my boyfriend drive me here for dessert. Yes, made. He refuses to believe vegan desserts can be tasty. He is wrong.
I tried the carrot cake cupcake and funfetti/​birthday cake cupcake. The carrot cake alone would give Capital City four stars, but the confetti leaves something to be desired. I’ll come back, but most likely for some chocolate and the delicious carrot cake.

I had a cupcake and it was ok. Nothing to say WOW over. Very very small shop. Free wifi. It was alright.

Went here after brunch at Counter Culture. Their cheese cake looked sooo good but I was so full! I opted for the confetti cupcake instead and it was delish! The cake was fluffy and the icing tasted like cream cheese frosting! I am not vegan but my best friend is. I was definitely impressed with how moist the cake was and light. Sometimes vegan cupcakes are too dense for me and they have a ‘vegan’ taste. My BFF got the creamsicle cupcake and it was quite tasty, but according to her does not beat her favorite cupcake at Sugar Mamas of the same flavor.
Service was a bit slow, the person at the counter couldn’t seem to help more than one person at a time and that meant waiting for him to heat up everyone’s kolaches and cinnamon buns and it was a busy Sunday afternoon! The front entrance can get a bit cramped when this happens because the space is kinda small. There is additional seating in the back but it’s also a bit cramped, there were about 9 people in the back including us and it felt like a tight squeeze.
Overall, I would still come here if I was in the area.

When traveling in Austin, there is no shortage of delicious vegan treats. If you have a sweet tooth like I do, you will be in heaven! From Sweet Ritual to Red Rabbit donuts to Capital City Bakery — Austin sure is lucky. Capital City Bakery has the most adorable storefront, which is an old home converted into a store and painted a Tiffany blue color. The outside and inside were equally cute and I felt like a little kid as I walked in and I almost felt like I was in a human dollhouse.
The display case contained so many items I wanted — cheesecake, Mexican pastries, cupcakes… I wasn’t sure what to get! Thankfully, as soon as I checked in on Unilocal,I noticed a check-​in offer for $ 2 off a cupcake. So I went for the Peanut Butter Crunch cupcake which was chocolate cake with peanut butter buttercream, dipped in chocolate ganache and topped with chick-​o-​stick candy (made in Texas!). After I paid for my cupcake I sat outside with my friends on a wooden picnic table and took a bite. It was incredible — moist, creamy and crunchy. I loved it! I totally recommend this place!
