These guys proved to be the worst part of a mid-​summer move. If you have to go with them, make sure to maintain meticulous records and don’t do anything over the phone. They’ll drop the ball and you’ll foot the bill. I got a new debit card around the time I no longer needed my storage unit. I called in to update my card info for the final auto-​payment and asked the woman what documents she needed for written notice of cancellation. I sent those in and the auto-​payments stopped so I figured everything was okay (bad move, I know). Two months later they get in touch with me requesting past due payments — they said they didn’t have my updated card info on file, had never received my cancellation documents and, here’s the weird part, I left my lock on the unit. I was positive I hadn’t, but went by and checked and sure enough my lock wasn’t there — one of their red past-​due locks was, but mine wasn’t. In an effort to be done with these people I paid the past due payments and fees and resent the cancellation notice. I’ve sent the notice four more times and have yet to get a response…

The people here are super nice and I love supporting a local spot. I stored business stuff here for several years. Unfortunately, we had numerous items come out of storage stained with mice droppings and urine; mostly our art. Should have filed a claim when we first noticed it but did not realize the extent of the issue until well after moving. I also noticed some water stains on items left in another unit; not much but definitely water. Sorry, Burnet Rd, but I feel I must alert people to this issue.

My storage shed was broken into this year at Burnet Road Self Storage. I got a call letting me know that it happened… and then was immediately told that they weren’t responsible for anything. «We’re pretty clear that we have no liability if this happens.» I’m pretty clear that if I got some major stuff stolen from my shed, I’d figure out whether this is true or not.
I called a week later to see if there’d been any progress or who the perpetrators were or whether something had been done because there was no follow up. That’s when I learned there are no cameras that could have caught the action either.
I’ll keep my items here because I don’t want to move them but the way that it was handled was subpar. Additionally, now that I know there’s no deterrent, I don’t go there at night either.

This is a great storage company. It is locally owned and operated. The storage company has multiple sizes of storage units, a secure space, and excellent staff. Particularly helpful is the staff’s willingness to work with storage renters when the renter needs to downsize or upsize. I always felt I was safe on the grounds and felt that my belongings were safely stored.

Super nice, will work with you on move in/​out dates. Also if you give them enough notice they will prorate monthly rent and you can save some $!

Used these guys last summer to store my stuff in between leases during the summer. Awesome customer service! I only needed a 5×5 for one and half month and it was effortless. Walked in, took my information, brought me to the unit and I unloaded my stuff, locked it up and left. Came back a a month later, unloaded everything and let them know I was done with it. Easy peasy! Nothing was damaged (even thought it was in the middle of summer!) Friendly small-​town feel business!

It was mid-​July when we moved back to Austin from the wilds of NYC and needed a very last minute place to store stuff… stuff that was to barrel into Austin the next morning at 9am. So, having just told you that we were coming from NYC, you know that we were starved for friendliness. Starved for a least a hint of someone in the service industry enjoying their job… Five years in NYC left me little hope of finding such an employee/​business. Ah, but wait…
When Vladimir the truck driver called to tell me he’d be arriving early with our stuff, I went into full «T.C.B» mode – for those of you not familiar with Bachman Turner Overdrive’s 1973 mega hit, I’m referring to a little thing called Takin’ Care O’ Business. In full T.C.B mode, you know I hit up Unilocal and immediately found Burnet Road Self Storage. Sure there are some sketchy reviews, but I decided that my stuff didn’t need to be impressed with its new digs, nor was I concerned with theft. I mean if someone wants to cut through a solid pad lock to steal my stained potholders and shitty IKEA furniture, fine. Yeah, so I called up Burnet Road Self Storage.
Remember up there when I told you to wait… From the moment an employee answered the phone, this southern hospitality-​starved girl felt like a camel getting water for the first time in weeks… years! When I told him my desperation, Ryan, the first person I talked to, was so accommodating and patient. He kindly listed that day’s few available units and even helped me think through which I’d need. Beyond this, he verbally promised to hold one of their last available units until I could drive over to reserve it with my credit card. (Sorry if this gets you in trouble, Ryan!)
Thanks to Burnet Road Self Storage, I was able to quickly reserve a clean, safe, and reasonably priced unit super close to my apartment. For the month our stuff was there, my bf and I had ²⁴⁄₇ access and even ol’ Vladimir was able to roll that semi-​truck right in. I just got the last of our stuff out of the unit yesterday, making sure to take my pad-​lock, one of the classy BRSS beer cozies, and the smiles of happy employees with me. As I turned to leave, I promised, «I’ll write you guys a great Unilocal review». To that they replied with an enthusiastic, «THANKS!» No, thank YOU Burnet Road Self-​Storage!

After checking the Unilocal reviews, I decided to go in person and check out the storage units here. They aren’t very impressive, and seem fairly exposed to the elements. The doors are rusty, the pavement was uneven (for rolling items or a dolly), and there was evidence of water damage on the sheetrock in one of the two units we looked at.
That aside, the location is great, and the price was on par with better-​priced places in town. The service was obviously FAR better than any of the many storage places I’ve been to since moving to Austin, and our guide couldn’t have been friendlier… or more honest…
I had seen the one bad review, which mentioned security problems and a concern for theft here. I all but dismissed it, as the reviewer only wrote one review, for Burnet Road Self Storage, but I had to ask about it.
My guide was extremely forthright, and told me that they had had a LOT of break-​ins, thefts, and vandalism, with the latest rash just 2 weeks ago. Vehicles in storage were vandalized and stolen from, as well as storage units.
That was more than I could have even guessed, as they do have a fence, an onsite manager, and advertise a camera.
She told me that, fortunately, because of all the thefts, the city had just issued them a permit to add more cameras.
So, thanks for the awesome service, and thanks for the brutal honesty, but there is no way I would store my belongings here with such glaring security issues. There are many secure options for the same price (or a few bucks more in a better location).

I have nothing but praise for Burnet Rd. Self Storage. The initial sign-​up was extremely easy. When I was shown my storage spot, the lady who was helping me noticed a small chunk out of the concrete next to one of the locks. She told me that, if I ever felt that was going to be a problem, to let her know and they would repair it. It was never a problem. Today, when I called to let Dan know I would be removing my things in a few days, he decided to refund my deposit, even though I’m 8 days out from my renewal (as opposed to the 10 they normally require). What a pleasure to get this kind of customer service. It is rare! Thanks for the excellent experience.

I was driving by there today and their sign (a cool 50’s era deal) said «if you think the sign is cool, check out our office». When you go in you will see why — the place used to be a drive in and they still have tons of movie posters on the wall.
When we moved to Austin a couple years ago we rented a small storage unit, and it was clean, dry, secure, easy to access. Though not climate controlled — and this was a rainy year followed by a hot one — we had no trouble. I recall reading reviews on line and thinking of going farther afield to find a storage unit, so this review, dear reader, is to tell you not to bother; you’ll only save a few bucks and at what cost.
What was really really fun about the place was the super cute couple that worked there when we first rented it, and the fellow working there when we emptied it out. With my pickup filled up, I went to start the engine and — wouldn’t you know it — no power. It wound up being a dead battery, but in our diagnosis the fellow at the desk gave me the number of a guy who will do a sort-​of personalized triple A as part of his evangelical duty as a born-​again christian. What a great and hilarious tip. Wound up being unnecessary though as I was able to march across Burnet and grab a battery at Auto-​Zone…

This place is awesome. It was my saving grace after a series of mishaps while trying to find a place for quick storage when I had to move my stuff in a flash.
My couch was being stormed upon and the first storage place I hit up had changed the business hours and had a missing employee. When I spoke someone on the phone they referred me to a second place that was equally as sketchy. I remember reading about a storage unit on the Internet that was on Burnet Road. Even though it was still pouring, I sent my couch back out into the bad weather to find a nice temporary home while I was away on holiday.
Burnet Road Self Storage was exactly what I needed. I was frazzled and upset and their clerk was so attentive and worked so quickly to process my lease and payment so that I could get into the unit. I was driven in a golf cart to see the unit, having excellent conversation with the maintenance worker.
The place is a converted drive-​in. It’s got personality and is locally owned. I like supporting local business to keep this town weird. It was well kept and look free from leaks, unlike the two other places I had seen that day.
I felt confident and secure that my stuff was in good hands.
