Bungalow No.3

I’ve been going to Anthony for years. Ever since I had that first AMAZING hair loving experience with him, Ive never let anyone touch my hair. I tell all my friends about him & they love him too, loyal customers as well. When it comes to hair color, he makes even the most vibrant look so natural. From copper red to bright red. I’m a natural dark brunette & since my color, I’ve lost count on how many times people have told me they wish they were a natural red head like me. lol I also hot curl my hair, which is longer than my mid back, & the way he cuts my hair is so beautiful, that it’s now easier to curl it, to the point where it almost always just curls itself in just a short amount of time with the curling wand… Only to be complimented with the highlights, almost like a swirl of colors in each curl. A gal feels on top of the world when her hair is on point and for that, I’ll never go anywhere else. :)

From effed up to fabulous! I had a terrible haircut no thanks to a «stylist» I tried in Houston. AKB took on the challenge to repair the damage and worked a miracle! He was so thoughtful in his consultation and really explained what we were working with and how we would fix it, and he gave me a good plan for further correcting the damage of that shoddy cut as my hair grows. I’m newly returning to Austin and before I’ve even nailed down a job, I’ve landed a new stylist and I am stoked! Love it!

AKB is a hair genius! I am new to Austin and was looking for a new hair stylist to make me blonde and fabulous. AKB did just that! I have never met a hair stylist who literally loves what they do. Hair is passion and it shows in his impeccable work. Can’t wait for my next trip to the hair salon!

AKB is AMAZING!!! I went to Austin for my daughter’s wedding and needed someone to do my hair for my special day walking her down the aisle. AKB was easy to work with ahead of time and very patient with this mother-​of-​the-​bride as she kept changing her time. The day of the wedding he immediately put me at ease — willing to let me show him all the tools and potions and lotions I use (brought them with me in case he wanted to use them). He transformed all my fears into an amazingly fabulous hairstyle for the day… I just wish I lived in Austin and not Seattle so I could go to him regularly. Want my hair to look like I’ve been to AKB every day. If you live anywhere near Austin GO TO HIM!!! You won’t regret it!

I hadn’t had a professional haircut in a long time, and the last time I had it didn’t go well. Earlier this year I was looking to cut off a foot of hair and donate it to Children with Hair Loss. This is a big deal; a drastic change. I never for a second regretted going to Bungalow #3. A.K.B. was the most thoughtful and thorough stylist! I completely trust him with my hair. I’m excited to come back in to see him soon.

I have been searching for a hair stylist for five years and I finally found the best in Austin! AKB is filled to the brim with talent. He is a master stylist in a cozy bungalow on SoCo and it doesn’t get any better than that.
I have thick, wavy, and almost unmanageable hair. I couldn’t walk out of my apartment without straightening it or putting in some curls. This is mainly because I decided to be blonde many years ago and years of heavy chemicals has left my hair lifeless. In the last 6 months I’ve visited AKB twice and my hair has NEVER been happier. It’s the most healthy and lovely it’s ever been and my friends/​boyfriend have all noticed.
We’re on a journey to get me long and healthy hair and he is invested. His clients are his canvas and there is no way you’re walking out of Bungalow No. 3 unsatisfied. Yes, he will give you his honest opinion on everything so prepare yourself to step outside your «hair comfort zone» but I can assure you he is a pro.
I can’t stress enough how amazing it feels to know that someone actually cares about my hair and not how much money they’re bringing into their corporate companies.
AKB is the epitome of supporting local talent in Austin.

We love AKB! He takes of me and my sons. The boys love the attention and walk out looking so good! AKB is a true artist and is very passionate about what he does. I am very particular about my cut and color and AKB nails it, plus he is an absolute pleasure to be around. Very highly recommended!

AKB is the best. I went in without having a hair cut in over two years and a dye job over a dye job (completely fried– I seriously couldn’t even run a brush through it). He made my hair look and feel good and showed me different ways in which I could style it and how to take care of it.
He’ll make you feel like a total VIP, but better than that, you’ll feel awesome every day, not just while you’re in his chair. He gives you the tools to keep up you’re great looking hair.
He is the best you’ll find; not just in Austin, but anywhere.

I can’t even begin to explain how much I LOVE Bungalow No.3!
I NEVER used to do anything with my hair, until I met A.K.B. I’d occasionally go get my hair cut at Aveda (whenever my mom wanted to treat me,) but most of the time I would get it done by a friend. Most of the haircuts and styling I’ve had in the past were good, but nothing comparable to Anthony’s work.
He’s incredibly passionate, creative, and knowledgeable about hair, and it really, really shows. When I first came to him, he took time to get to know me a bit before even touching my hair. He said he wanted my hair to compliment my personality– which is such a cool way of going about it! I’ve never met anyone that does that before and I think it’s just a genius idea. Because of that philosophy (and his sheer talent), I’ve always come out of his salon really pleased. I don’t even ask for anything specific whenever I come in anymore– I just let him do his thing. It always comes out different and AMAZING, and I like to think that it matches me as a person every single time. He really knows how to take care of you!
The salon is located in a really cute blue house off of South Congress, just south of Ben White. It’s the third house in this lot (hence the name Bungalow No.3!) He has a really nice waiting room with complimentary drinks available while you wait.
He’s really knowledgeable and talented with all sorts of hair. I’ve had many friends that go to him about problems with hair that is too thin, too frizzy, or too coarse and he always knows how to fix them. Anthony has become a great friend over going to him for the past few years. I’m not in Austin as much anymore, but I always go out of my way to get my hair done by him. It’s just SO worth it. I honestly doubt I’ll ever go to anyone else!

I got a keratin treatment that was over the top!!! My hair looks amazing. Fluffy and beautiful at the same time. Tony is so patient and meticulous. I’ll be back!

If there is one thing I totally respect about Anthony at Bungalow No.3, it’s that he takes his work very seriously. Anthony truly & passionately enjoys his work, that much is obvious.
A.K.B. takes getting a haircut to the next level. I’ve never been to stylist who openly cares more about my hair as an extension of who I am, than I do. To be honest, it’s quite a relief.
I would, without a doubt, highly recommend Bungalow No.3 and A.K.B to anyone.

I found Charlie Hodges two years ago after newly moving to Austin. He is a true professional and has a great passion for his craft. I am never disappointed with the outcome and my wife loves the results.
The atmosphere of his salon is very relaxed and inviting. It’s always a pleasure having a chat and getting an awesome haircut with Charlie.

Let me give you a bit of backstory real quick…
Before AKB started cutting my hair, I NEVER paid for haircuts. Seriously. Never. From buzzing my head on the back porch to mooching haircuts from friends who had a pair of scissors, I did anything and everything to avoid paying even $ 5 for a haircut.
Fast forward to today, where I regularly stop in at Bungalow No.3 for a trim, and I don’t even think twice about paying the price.
AKB is great at what he does. Seriously great, and seriously creative. This dude is a master with shears, but beyond that, he has a creative vision for every haircut he provides. That’s a big plus for someone like me, who has absolutely ZERO vision for his hair. These days, I don’t even show up for a cut with expectations or requests in mind. I just let AKB do what he does, because let’s face it… the guy knows about 1000 times more about hair than I ever will. I like to tell people that I’ve out-​sourced the entirety of my hair styling to an expert. I don’t even have to think about it anymore.
Ultimately, this works because I trust AKB 100%. The biggest win for me in becoming a regular Bungalow No.3 patron is the relationship I’ve built with AKB over the last year-​and-​a-​half. He’s a great friend, and I wouldn’t trade that friendship for anything. I’ll usually linger at the salon for 1 – 2 hours after my cut just to hang out with the guy and catch up.
Can’t say enough good things about AKB and Bungalow No.3. Just go and see what all the fuss is about. You won’t regret it.

Anthony Brown is the man! When I first met Anthony I had what I thought was a Caesar but was in fact just a poor «military-​esque» cut. Anthony got to know me and pointed out how the style was a poor representation of my personality and helped me shape a better suited cut.
Today, I get all types of compliments from men and women about my hair. I still just get up, shower, towel dry and walk out the door but you’d think I had my own personal stylist to the stars working me over each morning given the comments I get. Who knew the difference a great style and cut could make. Thanks Anthony!

By far the best hairstylist in all of Austin! Great personal service. Relaxing environment. Hair is an art form at this place and you always get more than you pay for. Anthony is dedicated to his work and never settles for «one-​size-​fits-​all» haircuts. You get what suits you best.

Anthony understands how to cut hair in a way that few other stylists I’ve encountered do. He works with the shape of your head like an artist to give you a style that is not only super flattering but grows out really well.
Plus, he’s awesome to hang out with so you leave looking great after having a great time and you really can’t beat that.
