I was a first-​timer and don’t think I’ll be able to trust this shop again. My car overheated and I had noticed after it overheated that my coolant reservoir was empty. This shop was the nearest one so I took it to them to get it checked out. I was charged almost $ 120 just so they could run a couple tests and tell me that I needed to replace the water pump and thermostat, quoting me another $ 820. A few things wrong with my experience: The water pump and thermostat are cheap, so they were charging me about $ 740 in just labor for a quick job. I took my car back and looked elsewhere and no one I went to was charging me over $ 400 with parts included. The worst part: The mechanic I ended up going with (well recommended and not the cheapest of all my quotes) drove my car and ran tests and said there was really nothing wrong with my water pump, thermostat, radiator or anything that would have caused my car to overheat. All I needed was some coolant, which I admit I had gone a little while without checking. I’ve been driving my car every day since he looked at it and haven’t had ANY problems, and he didn’t even charge me for testing it. It’s very wrong of your shop to take advantage of customers like that, making up car problems and charging double what you should to «fix» them. This is why so many people don’t trust mechanics. Thankfully I found another one that I can.

Got a custom exhaust installed a couple of years ago, fast, reasonably priced and excellent attention to detail. the job was flawless. 3 years have passed and a weld joint has cracked. I brought it in to get it repaired ready to pay snce its long out of warranty, it was a simple problem so they took care of me and fixed the crack free of charge, 30 minutes later I’m back on the road problem solved!

My water pump start leaking Saturday and work down the street from them I drop my car there and I give them my extended Warrenty information in Monday I went to check in my jeep a very nice guy told me they check the jeep and water pump needed and the coolant upper and lower hose need to be changed and he told me the cost well be $ 825 I was stunned and I told him my Warrenty won’t pay that much after calling the Warrenty they agree to pay $ 145 of the $ 825 and they well send the water pump make it short I been charged $ 463 for installing water pump in jeep grandcheroke its rip off I changed the water pump in jeep dealer before cost me $ 346 water pump included the reasonI approve bc I can’t move my jeep and your answer prove that how you get customer the question is is it fair to charge $ 400 to replace water pump? I got the invoice from jeep dealer it’s one hour work and one gallon of antifreeze look at your invoice its 2.5 hours and two gallon of antifreeze for $ 48 and store supply for $ 33 (I wonder what was that) any way I learn lesson I never well use your garage, I was expecting professional reply not (sic) one

I recently had an experience with flooding in the Onion Creek area around Southeast Austin on ¹⁰⁄₃₀. B & B Muffler came to pick up my Nissan truck and my roommates old Ford pickup as well after the flood waters receded. Anthony has been extremely helpful and the outlook for my truck looks great! He looked for a salvaged part that needed replaced vs buying new which has saved me a lot of money in a time where funds are tight. I very much appreciate their kindness and communication with me and would recommend them to anyone needing service.

I can’t say enough about the good folks at B&B. They really went over and above to help me. The service from Anthony and Ryan was amazing and the mechanic that worked on my car was obviously an expert. It was not an easy job. Moreover, they let me use their loaner car during the entire process. That was a real life saver since I don’t have any other way to get around. God forbid I need to have my car repaired anytime soon but if I do, I’m definitely going back to B&B. I recommend you do the same.

Awesome service! They were upfront and honest from the get go with my car. They communicated so well with me from the cost to the detailed issues under the hood of the car. Anthony from B&B even called a couple days after I picked up my car just to check in and see how it was going and make sure everything was working okay. It was so kind. I really appreciated B&B’s service and will be back!

$ 250 +tax for a muffler delete? H-​E-​double hockey sticks NO!!! Get corrected about some synonymous words for a muffler that isn’t actually a muffler. No thanks. The «expert» or so he self proclaimed, told me it would take 3 – 4 hours as well. I laughed. Out Loud. Seriously. I wouldn’t consider them for anything after his rude «estimate» other than a business wedgie. Like this review. I know that this won’t effect them much but it will serve as a warning to others. I went Austin Muffler and had the same job completed in an hour and for less than half the price and with a Smile.

Wow! These guys do a great of taking care of the customer in so many ways. Unlike other garages that cut corners in their work and over charge the customer, I strongly believe that they are honestly one of the best Automotive Repair Shops in Austin!
Plus, they were cool as hell to my dog Hercules. Gratitude, fellas.

I love these guys! This morning I got in my truck to get to work and It was loud. I called B&B and Earl the Manager answered the phone. He did not hesitate. He told me to come on over. It took about 5 minutes to sign in and get my truck up on the lift. The waiting area has a computer for customers to use. I got to attend to business while I waited for the evaluation. Earl called me to the counter and gave me the price to replace my muffler. The price blew my mind. Unbelievable reasonable. I said when can I get it fixed? Earl said right now if you want. What the… hay. It about 45 minutes to complete the repair. I was offered a drink, used the computer, treated with respect, given a reasonable rate and was in and out lickety split. If your got any Automotive issues go to these guys! They have my business for life!

I don’t want to have a Internet argument, but I have to address the shop’s response.
I will say, the shop did allow me to find my own parts, though parts I didn’t actually need, so that’s moot. I don’t believe they were hosing me for money, they would have made more, by doing the correct repair from the jump. This is certain. My issue is with the lack of knowledge which resulted in the nightmare and expense which this dumped on me.
The service is very courteous and inspires trust, it’s what happened in the back of the shop, where it matters most, that made this such a terrible experience.
Regarding codes. and the cat code not showing… The sensor for that cat wasn’t active & that in itself should have been a red flag to the shop.
Regarding the S/​C bearings. kit’s were available, I found out later. They cost $ 80! That would have saved me a bundle. But even further when I returned the core, the rebuild guys said that while they couldn’t be 100% certain without installing it, their opinion was that the unit HAD OIL, spun freely and had no slop to it, it should have been fine. ALSO, there is an S/​C bypass on this vehicle, all they had to do was unplug the vac line & even if the S/​C had been shot, the truck should have run. This simple 90 second confirmation would have eliminated the S/​C as the problem.
Regarding oil in the S/C…the oil level is not meant to over flow, so of course when they opened the plug, nothing came out. To change the oil, it has to be sucked out with a syringe. As stated above, I found out after the fact, that the S/​C did have oil.
Let’s also not forget, that after the cause of the poor performance was misdiagnosed and replaced, the truck ran exactly the same, poorly and stalling out. I was then sold a new distributor, which after later contacting the seller, I was told had already been recently replaced.
This was one misdiagnoses after another and all costing me time and money.
The truck WAS drivable when I finally got it back from B&B, but it lacked power from the moment I got it back and began stalling again quickly. In my original review I said within a thousand miles for simplicity, the actual numbers were that it never had the power it should, it began stalling within 150 miles and by 634 miles after the «repair», it had to be towed to the next shop because it didn’t run at all, it stalled in traffic.
As for the cracked manifold, I can’t speak with certainty as to whether a complete clog can crack the manifold, I can only repeat what the mechanic who actually properly repaired my vehicle told me. In fact, all I’ve done here is repeat what I was later told by those who actually repaired my truck correctly.
He said he’d never seen such a complete clog, and that is had actually backed up so much pressure the manifold cracked. He said, if it was him, he’d go back to B&B and raise hell, that they should refund my labor at the very least.
I did return to B&B, and they did offer to reinspect the other cat, as a curiosity. After considering it, I returned the call and declined this offer, it was pointless and I could only imagine opening a whole new can of worms, I figured better to walk away, they’d already cost me several thousand dollars plus a month without my truck. No thanks, not again. When I initially returned to B&B to discuss remedies with them, my request was simple, I had purchased both cats, and only the right side needed replaced. My request to B&B was that, at no charge the install the left cat, even though I didn’t need it, I figure I already had the part and this would make me feel like B&B at least understood what they’d done to fail a customer, and where willing to «make it right» As stated, they instead offered to properly inspect the cat, which was what they were supposed to have done in the first place. I already knew the left cat was fine. This was pointless and offensive as it only further wasted more of my time and life.
Some may wonder why I didn’t go straight back to B&B when I began stalling after the initial replacements. Because by that point, I was already aware of the all the misdiagnosed issues so I had ZERO faith in their ability to correct these issue’s without more undue cost to me. Sadly, I still thought they’d actually checked the cats, so I spent several hundred dollars more, insisting to other shops that the cats had been check and we had to try other things, like full tune ups.
I’m not one to unduly bad mouth people or places, but this situation was so brazen, I had to let others know, as I wish I’d known before hand.

I can’t describe how amazing these guys are! If you’re looking for a trusted mechanic, you will come to B & B for everything. Two weeks after moving here, my exhaust rusted and started sounding like a race car. I was referred here, and I am so grateful. Earl gave me a free estimate, time frame for the repair, and an approximate date when the part would be there, and they came in under estimate for both time and money.
I had a flawless experience when I got my car inspected, and was even referred to a time-​saving title and registration service that beats waiting in line at the tax office. Then when I got my new Texas plates, I tried every tool I had to wrench rusted screws off the old plate, and took it back to my new buddies. Anthony met me with a smile and spent time trying to get the oxidized screws off. They finally had to chisel them off and using some sort of magic, were able to replace them so my plate is now secure.
They are also very woman and family friendly. The waiting area has a tv and a play table for kids. They also offer you a beverage as you wait. They are simply the friendliest and most helpful guys. They take pride in what they do. They are an asset to Austin. Thank you, and keep up the great work!

These guys were great. The clutch went out on my Toyota Tacoma truck. They were professional, friendly, and took care of things with no hassles. My truck was fixed in a day and half. Would definitely go to them again

I have now taken my old 2005 Saturn VUE to B&B twice for substantial work. The first time something was haywire with my engine and they got right on it. Called me with all updates and what they quoted me was exactly what I paid. EXACTLY. To the penny. They also metioned some other things (that I was aware of) that were not quite right on my car. In no way did they pressure me to fix them and they were honest about them not being «necessary» to continue driving safetly. Drove my car home and all has been beautiful with the engine (as beautiful as a 2005 Saturn engine can be).
Fast forward a few months and the clutch on my standard Saturn (yes, I still drive a standard and I like it!) went haywire. I originally took it to a shop near where I was when it happened because I didn’t know if it would make the drive (I will review that shop shortly, they were also great), but they were unable to address the problem. So, I contacted good ol’ B&B again and was told that they have towing set-​up w/​Atex (who were also another bit of greatness in this annoying clutch-​situation). B&B told me that it would be a flat $ 75 tow and gave me the phone # to arrange. Low and behold Atex made it super duper simple, went and picked up my Saturn at the first shop and towed it to B&B. Bing, bang, boom. Done. I rec’d a call from Ryan at B&B and after they looked at the situation in my Saturn called with the update. Long story short — they were able to «band-​aid» my 2005 Saturn as discussed since it’s not worth much money these days and I only need it to last an itty bitty bit longer. Gave me a quote on the band-​aid and the major overhaul that may or may not be needed sooner rather than later (dealing with a 10 year old Saturn w/​100k miles leaves many questions on the horizon of what exactly is about to go haywire and to what extent) anyway, Ryan was able to confidently let me know that our band-​aid was working and it was the EXACT price quoted, but that if the major overhaul was needed in the future we could deal with that later.
No one at B&B ever makes me feel like I need to have something done because they say so. If it is a safety risk they’ll let you know, but otherwise they are straightforward and honest. If I end up having to have this Saturn VUE handled again before the big trade-​in, I will without a doubt take it back to B&B. And, looking ahead, whatever new car I get will also be a «patient» at B&B… they are just that awesome! thanks you guys!!!

B&B is simply the best. They do excellent VW service, on my wife’s 2007 Rabbit. They keep that thing running perfectly, like new! They also perform regular, excellent service on my 2011 Subaru Outback. Ryan and Anthony are always on the spot as far as answering questions, providing accurate quotes on $$ and time. Such an awesome repair shop.
I will not go anywhere else to get my cars serviced. B&B is the best. Go see them, NOW!

These guys were awesome. Having just moved here and needing to get a state inspection there was a form I needed since I moved from out of state. Conveniently pep boys didn’t tell me that when performing the inspection until after. I came to B and B for help getting the form I needed. They had me in and out quickly, were incredibly helpful and courteous, and I was able to make it to the tax office with time to spare. Will recommend them immensely to anyone and they earned my future business with their collective efforts.

I recently moved to South Austin and needed a new place to get my inspection done. B & B is just up the street from me so I took a chance.
Needless to say, I completely regret it.
Full disclaimer, I have a problem with a check engine light that is perpetually on. I’m aware of it as it has been on for 3 years. I know that it is an issue with a camshaft position sensor. I even got it replaced at one point to no avail.
I let every mechanic know about this before they see my vehicle. I understand the policies of how the car will fail inspection with the light on, but usually once I explain what the situation is and show that I am knowledgeable about my own vehicle, they clear the code and let me drive around to prove it isn’t actually faulty.
B & B laid that all out for me and I agreed to have it fail and then I would drive it around and show them it was fine after that.
What I didn’t expect was them to fail the vehicle for 4 other frivolous things on top of check engine light.
They wanted to charge me $ 95 to diagnose the check engine light, even after I had my cautionary talk with them. I know that’s a standard fee, but just wait…
I was told my wiper blades were cracked ($ 25 to replace), my gas cap did not pass the pressure test ($ 27 to replace), I had a MAJOR brake leak (47.50 just to diagnose, then the repair cost) and the drive belt was cracking ($ 150-​$ 250 to replace).
I have a mild knowledge of car maintenance, so I asked to have these issues pointed out to me so I could see firsthand before I agreed to the repairs.
When I was shown my wipers I noticed no cracking. I was then told they were torn. The mechanic had to really look for something to consider a tear on them.
My gas cap O-​ring was in perfect shape so I was skeptical about that.
Brake fluid was a little low and that apparently signaled a leak that needed fixed.
I was never shown the drive belt cracks.
I declined to let them do the repairs and paid the $ 28.75 to get my failed car back.
Fast forward a week, I take the car to another place which is consistently labeled Best of Austin, pay another 28.75 and start the process again.
My car passed with flying colors and needed no repairs. I did not need to pay any additional cash to have my check engine light situation handled.
I can’t possibly recommend B & B. They were polite and everything, but they came off as very scammy and just looking to make a buck.

First statement: I love my little Tonka toy Mazda Tribute. After moving back from a very long stay in Brooklyn, I needed to have my vehicle serviced. My car had been sitting up for over three years since my grandmother could no longer drive it.
That’s being said, she was in sad, pitiful shape. After looking around, I came back to B&B. 10 years ago they had taken mace of my Nissan Maxima to great results and now I entrusted them with my Tonka. They were amazing. Prices were fair, KYLE AND JOSE were amazing, explained the full process and made sure I new what was going on with her at all times. AND they even drove me to work way in Hyde Park! They even got a new fan and now in mother. She tells everyone about their personable service and brought her car here for inspection.
