They do not stand behind their work. We recently purchased a home that had some renovations completed by this company. After living in the home for about 8 months I noticed there was always water in the shower floor. Then I noticed mold on the wall in closet. The shower is on the other side of the closet wall. Went to the shower and started looking closely at the tile in the outside corner I noticed the paint peeling on the baseboard and that section of Sheetrock was wet. Pulled all that out trying to figure out where the water was coming from. Then I removed shower doors when taking up the door track all the tiles came up with it. They were all wet. I removed all wet tiles very easily. I then contacted previous owner who informed High Tech Restoration had performed the work a year ago. She gave me their number. I called and spoke with Phil. Informed him of what the problem was and sent him pictures. Someone stopped by that night. He looked around and then stepped outside to make a call. Came back in and said to file it on my insurance, which I had already tried. Informed me that with it all being taken apart he could not tell where the water was coming from. I showed him again where it was always wet. Explained again how the tiles came up and were wet. I was then informed that the previous owner did not seal the tiles like she was suppose to and it needed to be done every three months. I asked if they were going to stand behind their work and was informed that they would only stand behind their work if it was still with the original owner. The man was very polite and apologetic and offered for me to call and see if they could do something to help with somethings. Informed him no I did not want anyone doing work on my house if they did not stand behind their work. The previous owner informed me that this company knew once the repairs were completed she was going to sell the house. So if you are using this company and are planning on selling they do not stand behind their work. I would strongly suggest that you find someone who will take responsibility for poor quality work that did not last a year! Beware.

Irresponsible and unprofessional. Turned a 3 – 4 day project into 3 months, which significantly worsened our quality of life and disrupted our work. Often did not show up when they were supposed to and left things a mess. Eventually all the work was completed and was done well. I would never recommend this company to anyone.

We had a minor flood and Hi-​Tech restoration was who our insurance hooked us up with to manage the repairs. This is a challenging review to write as they did a great job with the water mitigation and a terrible job with the repair work. We had dealt with restoration companies in the past and I am sad to say this was our worst experience. I will say the team they had doing our wall repair work (paint, drywall, etc) was wonderful. However the team they had doing the floor repairs were terrible. They had to come out multiple times each time leaving things undone but wanting us to sign off on the work being complete. Their workmen tracked dirt all over our carpet and the clean up was not part of the job so we were left having to get our carpet cleaning done to clean up from the mess their crew made. The repair work was done in April and May and we have had issues with the repairs they did since. The carpet they repaired is horrible, a section of two feet along the wall is completely pulled up as it was not properly tucked in along the baseboard, they did a saddle patch in our hallway that looks terrible. We are going to have to hire someone else to come out and try and repair our home from their poor work. I can honestly say I would use them again for water mitigation as they did a fantastic job with that but I would get someone else to do the actual repair work.

A couple weeks back when the rain was unrelenting, we noticed a water stain on one of our bathroom walls. We soon realized though that our problem was even bigger than we had first thought. Water had seeped into the walls of three different rooms! In a panic we contacted Austin Hi-​Tech and before we knew it they had sent out their emergency services team to prevent further damage.
Robert and his team were very respectful of us and our home. They put my wife’s mind at ease and assured her that they would do their best to find the source of our problem. Thanks to their diligence we discovered that the water wasn’t coming in from outside but rather a leaking water heater even after a plumber had declared there was no issue with the tank. They got our walls and carpet dried quickly so that we could focus on getting repairs done. We would definitely call on Austin Hi-​Tech again!

Where has Austin Hi-​Tech been all my life? Their work was spectacular and prompt, but what I was most impressed with was their friendly and extremely caring service. Robert and his team were very professional, and I appreciated their immaculate work habits (they carried their own booties so no moping or cleaning was needed afterwards). Also, whenever I called the office, Stephanie was always available ready to answer any questions I had. I would highly recommend Austin Hi-​Tech to anyone who’s looking for quality work and exceptional service.

I am so glad I chose this company to do the repairs for the damage caused by a recent flood at my house. The toilet tank had a crack in it and when I returned home after being gone for a couple of days, my bathroom, walk-​in closet and master bedroom were flooded. My insurance company recommended several contractors to do the work, so several reps came out to give me an estimate. I settled on this company because of Rowdy, the specialist who gave me an estimate. He got right on the case, speaking with my insurance agent. He was a good communicator and answered my call and questions every time I tried to reach him. I had difficulty understanding the insurance process and he very patiently explained it all in detail, repeatedly. When one of the employees was sick, Rowdy filled in, making purchases and delivering them to my house, all the while, wearing a foot boot after a fall.
Shannon was the supervisor on the project for my house and I cannot say enough about his reliability and professionalism. He made sure everything got done in a timely manner and done right. He has a very easy-​going personality and tries hard to please.
I would highly recommend Austin Hi-​Tech Restoration to anyone who is overwhelmed with a sudden flood and doesn’t know who to call.

. I was assigned to this contractor from my insurance company on December 29^th. It is January 10^th. Nothing started yet but will send a review as it gets started…

We had some water backup due to a blockage of our piping where it connects with the city pipes. This was a very scary experience for us as the water crept into 3 different bedrooms. Austin Hi-​Tech came out immediately even though it was at night, removed the water, cutout all the carpet and drywall that was affected, and got our house completely dried out. They were fast, effective, and professional. It was a great relief having it all taken care of so quickly. I’ve got there number at the ready should we ever have any more surprises.

We recently bought a home at a great price due to the fact that there had been water damage from a flood that the previous owner (whom was elderly) had not been able to take care of. We had Glen and Marshall from Austin Hi-​Tech come out and look at the house before we purchased, to assess the extent of the damage, as well as give us an estimate for how much it would cost to repair the damage, and make some upgrades to make it «our own». This was our first home repair experience, and neither of us have much experience in this type of field, so the knowledge and guidance that Marshall and Glen offered was invaluable. It gave us the confidence we needed to purchase the home, even though the condition of the home (to our eyes) was extremely intimidating. Without Glen and Marshall’s reassurances, we never would have bought this home, which would have been tragic, as we love the home, we love the neighborhood, and our kids are having a blast. Austin HI-​Tech came in, told us what needed to be done, gave us ideas on how to improve the living space, and then did excellent work all around. We already have some new ideas on home improvements (thanks to my wife’s bad habit of watching HGTV) so we might be giving Austin Hi-​Tech a call again soon.

I’ve put off this review for a long time, mainly to calm down and provide a reasonable look at our experience.
Shortly after we moved into our home, our bathroom leaked. We called our insurance company and they sent us to Austin Hi-​Tech Restoration.
The process started out okay. The project manager or whatever you might call him came by our home, assessed the damage and drew up an estimate for the insurance company.
Things went downhill quickly after that. I think the most important thing to note here is: Our bathroom broke in August. Austin Hi-​Tech Renovations didn’t finish the repairs until December.
That was over four months of workers coming in and out of our home, without much notice. Four months of plastic on our carpets stretching from the front door, up the steps and to our bathroom. Four months of locking our cats away every day in case someone did show up. Four months of using the guest bathroom, even when we had guests. Four months of construction dust and debris. Four months of a bathtub and other pieces of drywall, tile, etc taking up half our garage.
Our contractor was a nightmare. He was difficult to communicate with. He didn’t really answer our questions. He would vaguely tell us he was coming by or some other worker was coming, then nobody would show up. For some reason, the first thing he had done was painting our walls — before removing the tile or retiling or anything. Odd.
And maybe most importantly, the businesses he worked with were not reputable.
Take the tile, for example: First, he was going to work with this company he knew. So I went and picked tile for that. Then that guy just never showed. We switched to another tile company, this time with a showroom. So I went and picked tile a second time. Then… The contractor ripped up our floor. Without being asked to. Just poof, no floor. And when I called in a panic, due to lack of floor, he told us a lie that «the floor was always supposed to be ripped up.» And off I went to pick tile for the third time.
The tiling company he chose, which I should do a second review for, was also terrible at installing wall tile. They weren’t able to do the design we asked for (a simple stripe) and they didn’t put any sealant in our shower (we’ve paid out-​of-​pocket to have that redone since this incident.) The tiles looked uneven. And some spaces were missing grout altogether.
The contractor never helped us pick tile or pick a design either. I felt lost during almost the entire process. And even more lost when, all of a sudden, I was notified that we had a new contractor, that our old one had left (been fired.)
The second contractor was definitely better. Pretty much all the work (except the ripping out, demo part) got done in the time he was there. But he didn’t seem to oversee the tile placement, missing grout, etc. either. He didn’t notice the sealant issue. We also had to go through the whole process of telling him the design we wanted done and all that again because apparently there was no transition or files left behind. (The design, as noted above, still didn’t get done right.) Had he been our contractor the whole time, maybe things would have been different. I’d like to give him the benefit of the doubt. But by the time he came in, it had been months and the damage was done.
The only advantage to the crappy first contractor was the ability to save up money along this huge timeframe so I could get more done. Like we got a tub installed and a toilet. Of course, we paid for those things to be installed and I did most of the research on my own for what types to get.
We also got our floor done for free, which seemed fair since we never asked for it to be ripped up. We were asked to pick budget tile (under the presumption that «we were always going to do the floor») but it turned out okay. Plus, when they ripped up the floor, they ended up having to replace the subfloor too.
The last part of this job that I remember was the cleaning up after it was done, which they half did. But they left a giant blue paint smear on our new master closet carpet. So they had to come back and remove that. And finally, it was over.
(Except they tell you to go to a shower glass company directly for the shower walls and doors to «save money» — weird, being that this whole process could be done like that… retrospect, man. Retrospect)
With Unilocal and Angie’s List available, I’m not sure why companies like this one exist. They only made the process harder for me and I didn’t feel like I had a competent resource to turn to or to walk me through the process. I would not recommend Austin Hi-​Tech Restoration and will not be using their services in the future.

I came back to update our review with five stars, not just four. Hi Tech is an outstanding company. We worked mainly with Shane Grigout and Jeff Mathis. Two of their subcontractors — the carpenters and the painters — were so good that I will write separate reviews for them as well. There were tiny imperfections by the subs. The great thing was that Shane oversaw the corrections to the problems and took care of them in a manner that was better than I would have asked for.
Imagine — a construction company with courteous, prompt sub contractors who communicate with you by phone and show up when they say they will! And then do a perfect job.
Our home’s dishwasher leaked recently. Our insurance company, Allstate, assigned Austin Hi-​Tech Restoration to the job. We have been thrilled with their service and their professionalism. Everything they do looks great and they have been perfectionists. They even got us back into our home by Christmas. I will come back and write more after the job is done, but so far they are five stars. I am leaving four stars for now and will update after they do the next room. Since it is the same team who did such an excellent job on the rest of the house, I anticipate that things will go well again. (update: stars upgraded to five, job done)
