Aaron’s Sales and Lease

I have had «0» problems with them… have bought a number of things in the «same as cash» had some minor problems, but they were always addressed in a timely manner. This last time my washer when out, right after I dropped $ 600 to have dead trees removed so no cash. I have over the years picked up 6 major appliances and furniture… no complaints.

You think to yourself, I really need some furniture, but I don’t have all of the money right now. Maybe I should rent-​to-​own.
Maybe you shouldn’t.
The idea is simple enough to get what you need RIGHT NOW. You ignore the fact that you are probably going to pay twice what you would if you just paid cash. You need it right now. I understand. I needed it right now too. Or so I thought.
We have been leasing some furniture from Aaron’s. We’ve done it before. First time, we paid it off quickly and didn’t feel the pain of the 24 month lease. This time, we had the same intent, but life happened and we weren’t able to do that.
The furniture we have been leasing has been awful. The fabric continues to rip and tear. They will send a repair guy out, he’ll sew things back up. All will be good again. Then it rips again in a different spot and we deal with it again. We’re paying for the couches, we’re getting the support we need to fix things, all is good. Then one of the loveseats gets a MASSIVE rip in it and we’ve had enough. We contact the store. They say we can either trade the furniture in for a different USED set or we can continue to pay and they’ll fix it again.
Instead, I take an option they didn’t provide me. I take the I’m not paying option. They then decide to give me a free month while they contact the manufacturer. Their conversation back and forth takes a long time. Finally we hear we are getting a new love seat. Great! I call back a few days later and see when that is coming in. They tell me I am late in paying. I tell them I’ll pay when that gets delivered. Then the conversation changes to that we aren’t getting a new love seat. We’re only getting the parts to REPAIR IT AGAIN.
I consider that for a day and say screw it. I go to American Furniture. Find a set we really like and buy it instead. Monday morning comes, I call Aaron’s and schedule a pick up — they tell me they will be here on Wednesday to pick it up.
It is Wednesday. We call. We get a response of «I thought you were getting that fixed.» Come to find out, the call I made Monday didn’t even make it into the system. They can’t come get the couches until tomorrow. I argue with them and they give me some excuse that was similar to «the ponies they use the haul things away are taking a nap.»
Since our call with them this afternoon, we’ve made calls to Aaron’s corporate and their Regional Manager is supposed to call us and we are working on a BBB complaint.
Meanwhile, I can’t even enjoy my new furniture because the defective couches are still in my living room.
Whatever you do, pay cash for ANYTHING you buy. If you can’t do that, do it anywhere except Aaron’s.

I am less than pleased with Aarons. We considered Aarons as a last resort. When we walked in there was a couple furnishing their whole house and they were getting 4 star treatment while we waited an extremely long time to find out if they had the washer and dryer we wanted. At some point, they showed me the pricing for the washer and dryer for a used over new. I was like ill take used since the price was waaaay cheaper to find out later that wasnt even the pricing. They failed to mention they were going to contact our employers and references. SO come to our surprised when our phone was ringing off the hook by our friends and family wondering why aarons called them. My employer wouldnt even release information until they got annoyed by them calling. Also find out we had to provide source of income. They promised me that they would deliver before 3 pm but due to the lack information it got delivered AFTER they called our references, employers and had to get proof of address from our leasing company. Each time we called the would said «we are here to take care of you» which sounded like a bs answer after everything. So on top of all of this, the delivery guys hooked up the washer wrong. Still cant figure out how to get just cold water and the dryer doesnt have a hose to catch the dryer lint. At this point, i rather be doing laundry at the laundry mat.
