History

Established in 2009.

This business was created to teach people about good beer and to reward the small breweries that got the craft movement started and to tell the Corporate Breweries to go to hell. They can buy handles elsewhere World Pub’s belong to it’s customers!

Business Owner

Eric Nordby spent 15 years as a Beer Rep and Brewery Sales Consultant, he got tired of trying to talk other bar owners into doing the right thing and pouring the right beers so is now opening bars to create places that will give small breweries a home.

It seems like it doesn’t take a lot to get gram gram going now a days. But when gram gram gets rolling, gram gram doesn’t stop. Before we arrived at the bar, we went to a micro-​nano brewery, which was fantastic. Then we came to this little hole in the wall.

The owner Scott is the best! He is very friendly and welcoming. The beers are awesome! They have a huge selection of different beers from all around the world. The place is very clean and well taken care of. I would highly recommend this place!

Good and friendly service with at least 20 different beers I never heard of.
Shared a flight of 5 with my friend and they were all good in their own way.
Don’t expect anything fancy. This is a pub for sure. But it’s clean and decent and if you’re into brews, this is a place to try.

I’m not sure what night Friday was in making my first trek here. Let me say that the beer selection was diverse and the Wild Turkey Stout that I had was delicious. Smooth, flavorful and nice and cold. There was a band playing and I’ve never been around so many white people with dreadlocks in my life. There was definitely a «hippie» aroma as one of the patrons pointed out. They were dancing and laughing and having a great time. There were even a couple of nice dogs walking about. This place isn’t about show. It’s about real beer with real people. That may not be a lot of peoples scene but I appreciated a good beer and some fun people watching. The bartender was also very friendly. I’m sure I’ll be back.

Stopped back here the other day. Brought a friend who had not been here. Scott was working and we ended up staying over an hour drinking and chatting. If your on 49 stop by for a pint. Great selection.

Between the excellent beer selection and the even more excellent service World Pub is as good as it gets. I only make it down the hill from Grass Valley occasionally but I am never disappointed– there is always a new beer or 5 on tap, the owners and employees do their best to make everyone feel like an old friend, and there always seems to be someone interesting to talk to at the bar. Spending time at World Pub always feels like hanging out at home with good friends and good beer.

No commercial beers here. I think there’s about 16 taps here and there’s always something new. They’ve got a great craft and micro-​brew selection. Scott will often have a highly sought after or rare beer on tap and they tend to go fast so check in often. They will post these on Facebook sometimes so it’s a good idea to follow them. They have a great bottle selection as well. Like I mentioned, not really any yellow fizzy beer here, so try something new. There is definitely something here you’ll like.

This is my first time coming here. A friend and I came up to Grass Valley for a hike and wanted to find a cool place to have a beer and watch the Monday Night game. The bartender was very helpful with their vast menu of specialty beers from all over California. I am very impressed and I’m pretty sure this will not be my last time coming here.

New owners lots of beer on tap and in the fridge.
For a small spot like the World Pub they do a great job at having a solid beer menu on tap and great beers and ciders in the fridge.
With 3 dart boards and some board games it a great place to hang out and grab some beers with friends.
Auburn has upgraded with a place like the World Pub.

You know a place knows what they are doing when they can open your taste buds to something that you have never liked.
I have never been a beer drinker and only stopped by for the Thai food; they were having a Thai and beer pairing event.
Been to several breweries and beer fest but never found a beer that I cared for. So it was a real surprise that Scott was able to find something that I actually enjoyed drinking. The only problem I have now is that this is probably the only place that carries it.
This place is like Auburn’s own version of Cheers. Lots of regulars; all very friendly. It’s a great place to unwind after work, the only thing that would make it better if it was just around the corner.

I’d been frequenting the Deli on the other side of town, and hadn’t experienced much of the World Pub. Since my boyfriend moved very close to the Pub, we’ve been in quite a bit.
They always have a great beer selection, and Scotty is fantastic at picking beers for me to try. I’ve not been disappointed with his choices for me yet! Every time we’ve been in, everyone there has been very nice and welcoming.
The do open-​mic nights and shows, which does get a little crowded, but it’s a great atmosphere and very awesome to hear some different kinds of music!

this is my favorite bar in auburn to go to. a great selection of heady beers, over 20 on tap, and some bottled. all about 5 — 6 $ a beer. great atmosphere and the people that work there are cool and relaxed. I love coming here.

Darn good beer choices. Bartender was very cool as I was the only– hey I’m stinky and disheveled but I just got done with a river trip-​dude in the place. Couple old boys watching golf-​group of young athletic looking girls and boys drinking beer. Great beer and warm people.

I started going here about six months ago when I moved down the street in Auburn. I love this place! I wasn’t much of a beer drinker till I started going here and now I love tasting the new stuff they get in all the time. My man and I love going here when we have some free times to have ourselves a little darts tournament between us.
They are always very nice to us, usually have our beers ready for us as we walk in if they see us walking up to the place. Very awesome people and vibe here.

A little nugget hidden in North Auburn. Excellent, rotating selection of craft beers, ranging from hard to find seasonals to PBR. The bartenders are welcoming and knowledgeable. The vibe is chill, regulars immediately treat you as friends. You really aren’t going to find a place better than this.

Driving by, you’d never guess such an awesome place was there — it’s right next to a gas station on Grass Valley highway.
Once inside, you will find an indoor biergarten, complete with long tables and communal benches — perfect for playing one of the many board games they have stacked against the wall, and more than enough elbow room so that you don’t knock your buddy’s drink to the floor.
Beyond the awesome wall décor (i.e., clocks, framed images of Moe and Barney), wide array of tasty brews, and friendly-​as-​they-​are-​attentive bartenders, there’s some good music to be heard as well. Stop in to see The Lampshade Tango one of these nights — you’ll be in for a treat!

Really great beer selection, and super nice bartend. We started going here right after Eric opened the place. He really has put his heart and soul into it, and I hope he keeps it going.
However, the N. Auburn location tends to bring in a lot of people that, to be honest, wouldn’t be the my first choice of people to hang out with. Always a couple of people outside smoking… just not my kind of crowd. I’ve never had any issues there, but it has become less comfortable for me on recent visits.

Great little pub that feels like a cross between a brewery tasting room and a friend’s bar done up in his den or garage. Dartboards, boardgames and WII Sports provides entertainment.
The proprietor and crowd are friendly, and there is an excellent selection of microbrews and imports on tap and in bottles.
The location is easy to miss, but if you live or pass through the area, it is worth looking for.
