Canopy West

I had purchased a canopy from Canopies West for my used truck, a red 1988 Ford Ranger, from this location last year. Everything went well at that time. The canopy was installed for a fair price, it was water-​tight and I never had any issues with the service or the installation. The tech even replaced the faulty lock on the canopy (it was a used canopy) for free and showed me how to use it (my first time owning a canopy). All is well and good!
However, recently I went back to get a bull bar for a new 2015 Ford F-​150 truck that I purchased. The man who owns the location quoted me $ 600 for the bull bar. I placed a $ 300 cash deposit on the order and left.
Unfortunately, someone had backed into my truck and broke some plastic on my front bumper and it was going to take 3 weeks to repair. I immediately called Canopies West to tell the owner to cancel the order and I wanted to get my deposit back. He said that it would not be a problem if I came back to get it installed in 3 weeks. I let it go and decided to wait.
Three weeks go by and I get my bumper fixed. I decide to go back to Canopies West. The owner was there again and he said he had the bull bar on site and would install it. So, I went along with it and he walked me around back to show me the bull bar. It wasn’t there. I told him to give me my deposit back and he didn’t. He assured me that he would get the bull bar back in stock. So I left.
I came back about a week later, because no one from this shop calls you and gives you an update on what’s going on! Why do I always have to keep driving back to get updates from these people? Anyway, I was pissed at that point and demanded my deposit back. He took my purchase order receipt and said he didn’t have cash. So he issued my credit back onto my debit card. 4 days later the money still wasn’t in my bank account. Turns out, it takes 7 – 10 business days for them to process a return. I finally got it a week later. Keep that in mind if you ever get into my situation.

I bought an ARE Z Series canopy and had it installed last Friday. During the installation I went to take a look at how it was going and noticed that the canopy sat considerably higher on the drivers side to the point that I could place my small finger in the gap. After quite a bit discussion with the installer and Sukhi, the owner, Sukhi agreed that it looked bad. He got in touch with the ARE rep right away and they agreed to take it back to the factory to fix it.
When I got home that same day I decided to take a closer look at the entire canopy and noticed that the weather strip on the drivers side pop out window was hanging loose. The top 3 inches would not stay in the channel. The trim piece that covers the top of the tailgate was one inch higher on the right side than the left.
It just keeps getting worse. I got under my truck to inspect the wiring harness and was absolutely surprise at the mess. The wires were literally hanging so low, that they hung below the spare tire. One high branch in the road would have ripped them right off. Furthermore, there was a red wire that they attempted to tap into that was cut in half, exposing the copper, and left exposed, hanging down. There were two «mystery» connectors on two separate wires that I can only assume they made a mistake tapping into them and when they discovered they were not the correct ones, they left the connectors, exposed, and not even taped.
On the main trailer hitch frame, there were 5 attempts to drill a hole, I assume for the ground wire. Three of those attempts failed so they moved on to another area where they broke off two drill bits, before moving on the drilling two more holes in the main frame rail of the truck. One of those attempts also failed and they left yet another broken drill bit in the frame rail.
The next morning when I went to leave the house and put some things in the truck bed, it was wet. Both rear corners were leaking considerably. Midway on the drivers side and both front corners, were also leaking.
Unfortunately Unilocal does not have an option to post pictures, or else I would have posted these pictures so that you can see I am not stretching the truth. Not only was this ridiculously sloppy work, but it is negligent. I am waiting to hear back from RAM, to determine the damage that they caused to the wiring on my brand new truck.
While Sukhi, the owner, did take the canopy back and provide me with a full refund, I would stay as far away from this place as you can. Sukhi is a nice guy and was visibly just as angry with the work as I was. However, not only is the work shoddy, but the place is an absolute dump (again, I wish I could post pictures). The installers all smoked in the garage while working on my truck, with the windows on my truck open. I had to ask them not to, and close my windows and doors to keep the smoke out of my truck. The driveway just outside of the garage bays where they do the work is littered with screws and other debris. Before i pulled out, I physically walked the path that I was about to drive and picked up screws so I would puncture my tires. Dont even attempt to use their restrooms. It was disgusting.

Bought an A.R.E. model Z canopy for my 2015 HD2500 Silverado a few months ago. It was customized exactly like I wanted. They wired the canopy for remote locking/​unlocking. It looks great and fits well. They also sprayed the bed with Line-​X. It looks great! I would recommend them.
Update Jan 2016. Traded in the HD2500 for an HD3500. The canopy fit the new truck. Canopy West wired the canopy in the new truck and even ran a USB cable from the cab to the bed for a backwards dash cam. The canopy still looks great. The plastic pieces behind both windows became loose pretty soon after buying it but I just took them off and RTV’d the holes.

Worst customer service ever vary rude and try to rip you off in anyway they can. They also damage my truck putting the canopy on and refused to pay for the damage. Don’t go here unless you want to blow your money and get your truck damaged.

We bought a used canopy here. One of the staff, Jeremy, gave us outstanding customer service, extra tips on how to set it up best on our truck and was very knowledgable. The canopy looks great and was reasonably priced. We would definitely go back.

Called looking for replacement window for my 2001 Toyota. All I got was a rude gentleman that barely listened to what I was looking for then directed me to canopy kingdom and hung up. Well canopy kingdom it is. What a jerk.

I live at the north end of King Co & commute to Auburn, so I have plenty of options for shopping vendors. This was the third outlet I visited for buying a folding canopy for my new truck bed. The guys at Canopy West Auburn went above & beyond to service my purchase and install needs. I got a great looking product, they worked with me on pricing & went well beyond the extra mile to help correct an ordering mistake that wasn’t their fault.
There’s plenty of pickups in my parking lot at work. I have no hesitation in recommending Anthony and his coworkers for products or services.

This place has zero customer service. One person tells you to come by at a certain time and they will take care of it. When you get there, the next guy says there is no time. Then why the hell was I told to be come at this time. They couldn’t care less about their customers time. Most unprofessional business. Never again.

My wife and I were having problems with our new Roll n Lock pick-​up tonneau we had recently purchased. Canopy West owned the problem! That afternoon Roll n Lock called us directly and were at our front door the next morning. Canopy West’s relationship with Roll n Lock made a huge difference. We weren’t simply passed off to the manufacturer. Canopy West made sure we received prompt attention. This was a great customer service experience.

Too often a business is judged by the mistakes it makes and not how those mistakes are handled. Moreover, when service is involved the business is almost never given credit for the way service is recovered when a mistake is made. I work very close to Canopies West and though there are some reviews (on Unilocal) that have some opportunity attached to them, I decided to «brave the waters». Initially I decided to do business with them because of their extremely convenient location, instead of driving down to Tacoma to one of their competitors with «better» reviews. I could not be happier with that decision… I ordered a paint matched A.R.E. Z-​Series canopy for my 2013 Toyota Tacoma with many extras, including factory installed roof rack mounting rails. I waited patiently during the 2 – 3 week delivery time and got the call that the canopy was ready… Woo Hoo! When I arrived at Canopies West and looked at my new canopy I was shocked to see that the factory installed roof rack rails were not on my canopy… Boooo! I talked with Suki (I think that is how you spell it) and he was visibly bummed out that there had been a miscommunication between Canopies West and the A.R.E. factory. Without any hesitation Suki gave me multiple options; Option 1) Keep the canopy «as is» and he would credit me the difference to my card — Option 2) They would install the roof rack rails on premises and would «guarantee» the work — 3) They would order me a new one and make sure the new one had the factory installed roof rack rails. WOW Options! This is where I was blown away… I told Suki that I had a trip planned that required a canopy and again without any hesitation he said, «we will install this canopy on your truck while we wait for the new one to arrive»… WHAT? Does service like this still exist? Well, I am here to tell you first hand that it does at Canopies West. If you want a fair deal look no further that Canopies West.

What? You mean your idea of a fun afternoon ISN’T going to deal with your truck canopy issues? Yeah. Me neither. So you’ll understand my pleasant surprise at how reasonably priced and quick these guys were. While they did make an effort to sell me some kind of bed liner thingy made out of recycled plastic bottles, they also only charged me for a half hour of labor, fixed the leakiness in the back of my truck with a complete re-​seal of the canopy, fixed the lock, and did something else involving the rubber seal on the rear door. All for $ 50. Stoked.
