Auburn Auto N Smog

This is a wonderful shop, clean, welcoming, very good at communicating while they have your car, easy to get a hold of, and very reasonably priced.
During the Memorial Day weekend my car broke down in South Lake Tahoe. I had it towed to Auburn Auto N Smog, on Tuesday morning I called and spoke to Brooke, she was very clear about the timeline in regards to getting my car up and running (they had my car up and running a full day before I expected them to), and she was great about keeping me in the loop and recommending an alignment (that I TOTALLY needed) but not pressuring into purchasing anything I couldn’t afford right then. Even though my car was broken, it was a stress free interaction with this shop. We plan on using Auburn Auto N Smog for all our car care needs going forward. They’ve earned a customer for life. Plus it’s nice knowing we are supporting a true local business/​family. Thanks Auburn Auto N Smog!

Great customer service. Quality work. Everyone over at Auburn Auto and Smog was very easy to deal with. Fair pricing too. I had to have the ABS Module replaced on our car. They assesed it and fixed it in a day. No hassle. They even waited for me to get off work and stayed open a little later to accommodate my schedule. I very highly recommend them!

Been going here for 12+ years, at least the same place. Current owner, Les, I think, is good to deal with. Attention to detail which is needed to be a certified SMOG station and runs a good shop.
Heading there again to smog my Diesel truck in a week. Stil don;t know why CA enforced SMOG on Diesel but that’s not the shops fault.

The people here are some of the nicest people I have ever met. They really take care of their customers, they even gave me a ride to the hotel I had to stay at until the parts showed up. They got my vehicle in the same day. Thanks guys!

Headed back to do a new car I purchased. Long story short, I failed first time.
The tech was VERY thorough, and even though the cold air intake (a genuine Mazda accessory) is CARB legal, the EO# didn’t match my model year. I was initially REALLY irritated because I knew it was legal and I could pass with it, but bit my tongue and went home to research more. After a few hours on the phone with Mazda corporate, I got some PDFs of the updated EO# that included my year. Brought it back and they charged $ 30 for a retest and I passed. Only took about 10 minutes and I left happy.
2.5 stars for the smog service (half my fault, half theirs), but 5 stars for the cashier/​owner named Brooke — total sweetheart and was really nice about the entire thing.
Although the $ 30 retest seems a bit steep, I wouldn’t hesitate to come back again. Nice, friendly people who are only trying to do the job they are designated to do. Could have easily gone to a «shadier» shop that would have passed me no problem, but there is something to said about honest business owners these days.

Didn’t trust the mechanic and nothing he said or did changed it. Took my vehicle to another mechanic and fixed right away. I would never go back.

Les has worked on both my pickup and small motorhome over the past few years. He is always professional, extremely knowledgeable, and does excellent work.

In and out in less than a half an hour — prompt service with a big smile. Also on the plus side, they charged less than 50 bucks to completely smog my car — including the certificate — and this is where the five stars comes in — they had good magazines and no loud TV or radio in their waiting area. I get so sick of waiting to have my car worked on/​looked at and being forced into watching daytime TV.
In any case, I’ll be back if my car needs anything — I really value the service I was given today. :)

The owner Les Hudson is probably one of the best mechanics I have ever met. Between his encyclopedic automotive knowledge and his ability to get things done fast this place will thrive.
Les just did my clutch yesterday and got me in and out quick.
