Great service… They can always get me in right away… FAIR prices. They won’t try to gouge you…

Quite simply, the folks at R&J are top-​notch and have not failed to surpass my expectations! I came in a couple of days before Thanksgiving with a number of things to check out, and they got it done, called me during the day to discuss what they found and even gave me a lift and back to a nearby coffee shop where I could work while they were working on the car.
Highly recommended, friendly guys and fun to chat with!

Service was ok. Paid about $ 100 more that i should have. They would not budge on price, no discounts for veterans or Purple Heart. Its all good. In the end, thanks for getting my vehile fixed but sometimes its the lil things that make a difference and keeps people coming back.

It’s so ridiculously hard to find trustworthy mechanic shops these days. The guys at R&J have done nothing but right by me and my family. Alan is super friendly and patient, I’m a nineteen year old girl who knows next to nothing about cars yet he took the time to explain everything to me in detail with patience. The first time I went in he quoted me $ 400 when I picked up the car I paid $ 216. That’s a very rare occurrence in my experience. Now my cars transmission is shot due to the ignorance of an oil change shop (check out my Spee Dee’s oil change review if you’re curious) and again Alan is working with me and I honestly won’t be taking any of my future cars anywhere but R&J. They are a respectable family owned business and they know their stuff. I definitely recommend this place if you’re having car trouble.

Very honest, also will give you all the options and they are very reasonably priced. I have had great luck with them over the years. No complaints here. Thanks

Definitely say this place is the best in town. Get the work you need done, quickly and cheap. Stephen worked on my car and did an outstanding job. Didn’t try to upsell anything to me and just offered suggestions after the last mechanic I saw tried to rip me off.

Being new to the area, I looked over the various car repair shops in town.
I elected to go to JR due to the Unilocal review
A very Lucky find! — They turned out to be better than I expected… really nice guys. knowledgeable and honest!!!
First repair– good job, done on time and within the estimate.
Second time– I came by to get a battery replaced– this is how honest they are…
Alan took a look and noted that it was probably still under warranty from our
car dealership– He could have replaced it and charged me– but he didn’t.
I went up the block to the local dealer– had the paperwork transferred from SF
no charge for the new battery– Phew! saved me around $ 150!!!
if you are looking for a great mechanic in Auburn– this is the place.

My Mom, Step Dad, and Sister all had wonderful experiences here and swear by this place. Their cost of labor is normal and they didn’t try to charge me anything above market for the part they replaced. My 3 stars mainly concerns the fact they told me they had checked everything and it was only the battery that needed to be replaced. I was even told that everything else under the hood was looking good. 24 hours later my new battery was dead and my car wouldn’t start. I called back to let them know the problem and they told me to bring it back in but they would have to charge me the labor to re-​check my car. It seems strange to charge someone for work that was suppose to be done originally. I ended up taking my car into a different mechanic to finish the work. I hope my experience from one of the few that gave them only 3 stars because I have heard such great things about them.

Fabulous service and fair prices! I brought my car in with a cluncking and rattling noise in the steering assembly. Another place had quoted about $ 800 to replace the steering assembly. Alan quoted me $ 100 up front and inspected and lubed the assembly, checked for any loose bolts, etc. When I picked up my car he only charged me $ 50! The noise in the steering is gone! He also found and repaired some items a brake/​tire place had neglected finishing the day before which could have caused a serious accident! I won’t hesitate to bring my car in the future to these guys and refer to my friends and colleagues. A mechanic you can count on! What a concept!

We take both of our older vehicles there. This is an excellent shop and very common sense. No hard upsell, no nonsense. Tell them what’s wrong and they’ll tell you upfront what it takes to fix it. Thanks guys!

I agree with the first reviewer. We started taking our cars there about 5 years ago. They charge a fair price, get the job done right. No BS. Alan once told me ‘We don’t have to play games and make work for the shop. We’re busy enough as it is.” You get honest assessment, good work.

I will always take my cars here. Art and Alan are probably the two mechanics in town that I trust 100%. They may not be the cheapest in town but they are straight foward and will not do things that don’t need to be done like other places I have been.
