Established in 1950.

Nearly 40 years ago two friends graduated Optometry School together and decided to open a practice. Over the next 10 years they would buy three more practices throughout the metro Detroit area. Thirteen years ago, their respective sons have joined them in what has become 4 office locations and a legacy of devoted care to the community.

Dr. Michael Weishaus graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, Illinois in 1972 where he attained his Doctor of Optometry degree.

Dr. Lorne Gottesman graduated from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts in 1999 where he attained his Doctor of Optometry degree.

Dr. Lorne here is absolutely the best. Compassionate, kind, personable, and very knowledgeable — by far the best optometrist I’ve seen! His knowledge of certain eye conditions far surpasses that of even some specialists I’ve seen. The staff here is also friendly, helpful, and competent. I’ve had some issues with my eyes and have needed to get in here in a hurry before, and they are always very accommodating.

Knowledgable doctors. Incompetent staff. Staff is unprofessional and unorganized. They did not have my exact prescription for my trial pair of contacts, so they were going to order the correct prescription and call me when they arrived. Never called after 2 weeks. I called to get a status update and they never placed the ordered. Another week passed and they ordered the wrong prescription. I ended up ordering my contacts through 1800-​contacts.

The people who work at the desk and are supposed to help their customers always act like they don’t know what it is that they’re doing or that they don’t want to do their job. The doctors are great but your people who work at the counter are horrible, in person and on the phone.

I couldn’t be more pleased with my experience at Auburn Hills Eye Care. The service and the professionalism has been evident every time I have been there. They have been accomodating when I have had special needs and always have had a smile and a pleasant greeting when I have walked in. Every person there has been a pleasure to deal with. I trust them with my eye care!

Probably the most disorganized service I’ve experienced in recent memory. It took 2 weeks for me to get trial lenses. Once I came in for the fitting (last week) I was told they would be ordered and I would have them by yesterday. I got a phone call about my glasses yesterday and inquired about my contacts. Today I get a call that says oh sorry we didn’t place the order for contacts. Then some vague apology. I am moving and beyond annoyed that they can’t even get a contact lens order straight. They said they don’t know when the contacts would be in, but they’d have to check on it. I can’t believe that a business stays afloat when they don’t do what they promise. The only reason it isn’t a one star experience is that the Doctor who helped me was very knowledgeable. If you are looking for timely contact lens delivery please try elsewhere.

Very friendly staff. I got my glasses quickly but still working on finding contacts that fit. They seem more than happy to let me try multiple pairs until I find something that works. Glasses selection is a bit small and I was disappointed they didn’t carry Oakley eyeglasses. Overall a good experience.
