Baylor Emergency Medical Center at Aubrey

This ER is horrible they did not give my wife the time of day until they got her CT back and saw proof that she was sick. I informed the RN multi times that my wife had passed out and no one came to the room for over 10 mins. Also a week later we requested her medical records and you can tell that they went back and charted to cover their ass once they realized she was sick. One example was There was magically vital sign showing she was stable every 45 mins when they had only taken vitals when we arrived and when they realized she had internal bleeding 3 hrs later, at which point her blood pressure was critical low to which they call 911 and the fire department showed up… Super helpful. At no point did anyone take those vital sign hell there was not even a monitor in the room. Also they told the admitting Doctor that the issue was 5 days old when it was really 8 hrs. Very big difference. All in all they did not listen to our story and did not give us the time of day.
Other issues– we waited over 1 hr to see the MD, took another 45 mins after that to get labs and pain meds going (even know my wife was passing out and diaphoretic) the doctor was belittling and rude.

Update: The medical director, Dr. Kara, called me on 11÷23÷15 to talk about my experience there. I told her about what happened during my visit and when I got to the part where Dr. Gaidarski told me «You need to learn to control yourself», she chuckled. I stopped and asked her if she thought that was funny because I certainly didn’t think so.
I went back and got my medical records today and some of the stuff like my vitals are completely made up. Other things that are made up include statements my wife supposedly made and the assessment done by the MD. This place is absolutely horrible.

Although this location is fast, I’ve never left with any type of Diagnosis. They either pump you up with drugs unnecessarily to get you out of there quickly, or give you a «guess». Never been hooked to an IV, never been given any tests besides your standard pregnancy test. I rarely got a doctor who spoke english, I had to ask the nurse what the doctor was saying.
I pulled a muscle in my back, and had the flu, the doctor told me to «go home, sleep it off, and try not to move» No medicine, no treatment, nothing.
The staff is also generally very rude, they leave the door open to your room so everyone can see you, and one nurse stepped into my room one night, shut the door, and told me «she just wanted to get away because the hallways smelled like sh*t» her words exactly. Completely unprofessional.
If you want to be in the ER for less than an hour and leave with a «guess» of what is wrong with you, this is the place. If I can help it, I will go to Presbyterian Denton from now on.

Of course this facility can’t handle all emergencies, but what they can handle or how they respond to some emergencies may be even less than you would think.
My daughter was bleeding due to a tonsillectomy. This started while we were not at home. She went to BEMC at Aubrey because it was close. The staff there told her that they could not handle this. So, this is an example of what can’t be done there.
However, she was in the process of loosing multiple pints of blood. Rather than making an assessment of the level of this emergency and calling or advising she call an ambulance, they just told her they could not help her.
In general, there was a lack of urgency when confronted with someone with nontrivial amount of bleeding.
She drove to the ER of a real hospital in Denton, before she passed out from blood loss.

We recently had to go to this emergency room. Generally an unpleasant experience. However the staff at this particular hospital were exceptional. They saw us quickly, told us what they thought was going on, and presented a multiple level process of diagnosis. The staff were kind, listened, appeared interested, and were extremely empathetic. We left with a diagnosis, contact with a surgeon to fix the problem, all of our record, and a plan for another emergency and a planned surgical procedure.
The only downside is they don’t operate at this facility. So if you need that you will have to go to another place. That said there diagnostic skills were top notch.
If you have an emergency feel confident to go to this local place.
Oh and the last thing is we went through a shift change and our care remained at the highest level. The ER doctors did not seem to be in a rush to leave and took the time to explain what had happened thus far to the next ER doctor.
