Lovely private beach for residents(either year-round or just for the summer) of Atlantic Beach. Get your beach pass and chair storage slip from the Village Hall, write your last name on your chairs in Sharpie, and drop them(up to 4) off at the beginning of the season. The super-friendly cabana crew will be happy to bring them down to wherever you decide to park yourself on the beach. Just be sure to tip them well — they’re high-school kids mainly working for tips during the summer. A food window is available just past the entryway to the beach on the right, where you can buy anything from ice cream to a full burger and fries. I don’t think there’s booze here, but there is a bar a few blocks down by Dutchess. I’m not sure what Karol saw, but I’ve always found the beach here to be exceptionally clean. Lifeguards are super-attentive, and I thus find this beach to be very good for both children and adults. Because of the residents-only requirement, you will never feel crowded or put-upon. Magical peace… just 20 miles from Manhattan.

Pretty boardwalk and beach. The beach, though, is for residents only(between 4th of July and Labor Day there are people checking your card) and, frankly, not as great as other nearby beaches. They don’t do the best job of keeping it clean. Not overly crowded.
