Sublime Doughnuts

The peanut butter cup doughnut was delicious. It was nice and airy. My wife got the strawberry cream. It had actual strawberries on there inside which surprised me. I was just expecting a jelly.

As an out-​of-​towner who has had her fair share of doughnuts, Sublime Donuts has easily become my favorite donut place. The best part is that they’re open ²⁴⁄₇! I feel like it’s probably a good thing I don’t live here, otherwise I’d probably be here everyday.
I ordered their Oreo donut, and if it’s your first time I recommend getting it! The donut felt more cakey than fried, which made me feel less disgusting… but it was still very tasty! It had a creamy white filling inside and good amount of Oreo toppings on it.
The service was exceptional! The cashier was very friendly and made me feel like he had known me his whole life. I imagine this would be a good place to study or catch up with a friend. I saw they had coffee, too.
I also saw on Instagram that they do custom letter donuts and serve ice cream as well, which I think is pretty cool!

If you’re looking for unique donuts, look no further! This place has flavors ranging from Oreo, Red Velvet, Sweet Potato, and even Salt and Vinegar– yes you read that right!
I’ve tried the Chocolate Banana fritter and the Oreo donuts so far and both were very good! The dough itself for the donut is what makes it superb, it’s soft, light and tastes fresh– even when you order it past 1am on a weekend!
My only gripe about this place is that it’s too close to where I live and it’s open late nights too haha!

Sublime Doughnuts: my ultimate guilty pleasure. It takes all my willpower to walk past Sublime everyday and not give into the temptation to walk in and buy a dozen donuts. The donuts at Sublime are different to say the least. My standards for donuts are pretty low (hey, you can’t go wrong with a chunk of fat and sugar), but Sublime is top notch.
Going off of their online menu, here is a list of donuts that I have tried so far: fresh strawberry n cream, smores, A-​town cream, butter toffee, Reese’s peanut butter cup, white chocolate peach fritter, A-​town mocha, chocolate banana fritter, raspberry filled heart w/​dark chocolate, sweet potato cake, frosted croissant, caramel apple fritter, Butterfinger, Oreo, chocolate wild berry fritter, and cheese danish. Out of these, my top 5 favorites are as follows:
1. A-​town mocha
2. A-​town cream
3. fresh strawberry n cream
4. Reese’s peanut butter cup
5. sweet potato cake
There were a few disappointing flavors, but they were still worth it (there was either no or too much filling for the Oreo and smores; don’t quite remember).
The location is now open ²⁴⁄₇ just in case your New Years Resolution is to gain weight, not lose it. There is usually plenty of parking in the private lot (other than lunch time), and a small amount of seating inside. They also serve coffee/​drinks and ice cream if you need something to wash down the donuts, want to cool off with some ice cream, or want to achieve the ultimate sugar crash with a donut and ice cream «burger.» I have yet to try their ice cream or burgers, but they seem to have a good flavor selection.
One year, I will treat myself to a tower of Sublime donuts for my birthday and finally try every donut on the menu. Until then, I will simply sing praise for the store to my friends, family, and strangers on the internet.

I don’t usually eat donuts but I gave it a try and was pleased! I hate how some donuts are overly sweet without much flavor. However, I tried the strawberries and cream, and I loved it! The donut in itself didn’t have a lot of flavor but the fresh strawberry filling made up for it. The strawberries really did taste fresh and I figured I wasn’t being too unhealthy since it was a fruit… hahahaha. I wasn’t a fan of the coffee because it was too light and not bitter enough. My friend got the Elvis which I tried and I didn’t like it as much. She didn’t get the peanut butter that they offer to put on it, so maybe I would’ve liked it better with the peanut butter. They add actually banana chunks in it so she kind of ate healthy too haha. Worth a try if you are in the area and craving something sweet. The prices are great and they have so many flavors!

I’m a fancy donuts fanatic, so had to stop by and check out Sublime when I was in Atlanta. I came in early on a Friday morning, and it was crowded but there wasn’t a line at the time. I tried the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup ($ 1.85), ATown Cream ($ 1.60), Fresh Strawberries & Cream ($ 2) [
— I thought they were all just ok. They were too sweet for me, but the dough was pretty fluffy. My favorite was the peanut butter cup, then the Atown cream. I wasn’t a big fan of the strawberries and cream since the donut got a bit mushy. They have an extensive menu though, so I would consider coming back if I came back to Atlanta. Parking wasn’t bad, but the lot isn’t that big.

Move over Krispy Kreme. Same to you Dunkin Donuts. You’ve never really eaten a doughnut until you’ve had one of the wonderful creations of Sublime!!! Artisanal doughnuts at their best!
I would’ve never known about this place until it appeared on the Food Network. After seeing it raved about on TV, I made a beeline to try it out for myself — & I’m so glad I did!
The place is small & unassuming in a small strip mall — but step inside and be intoxicated by the bakery’s sweet aroma & take in the display cases full of gooey goodness!
Nutella doughnut? Get in my belly! Dulce de leche, I’ll take one of those too. Everything looked so irresistible — we had to order one of each. We got a dozen to go & could barely keep our hands off of the treats on the way home!
Picking a favorite is nearly impossible! The dough is pillowy soft & the icing combos are beyond delicious. And believe it or not they’re not overpoweringly sweet.
I’m not sure what the going rate is for doughnuts, but these will only set you back $ 1 — 2 a piece. Bargain for a taste of heaven! Get yours now!!!

It’s hard to explain but Sublime donuts have a thick doughy texture to them. Some of the flavors lacked flavor (ie; sweet potato or strawberries and cream) or was too sweet (ie; peanut butter cup). I did not feel like my carbs were being consumed wisely. A dozen of these donuts are expensive! On top of that, the cashier was super rude to my friend and giving her an attitude.
Also, I was visiting from out of state and I will admit that Richmond has the best donut shops (Sugar Shack or Country Style) so Sublime didn’t stand a chance from the beginning.
The one pro is that these donuts still tasted good after one or two days.

I’ve been here twice. And each time, I always enjoy my sweet treat! My friend is a huge donut fan! So we decided to come here before she dropped my boyfriend and I at the airport.
They have a variety of different flavors of donuts that are not your usual Krispy Kremes. They have some specific to Atlanta– because it’s originated here and the only location is by GA Tech. I always come here and get their red velvet donuts. Never fails me. My boyfriend tried the Dirty D– which were different chocolate flavors. And my friend got the Yin Yang twist– hers was very chewy and it was really good.
They also have coffees and different espresso drinks to drink with your donut.
The place is pretty small. They have couches with huge donut pillows.

For the record, I am a Revolution Doughnuts fan through and through. They’re close to my house, delicious, cheap, and HUGE. Before I’d had Sublime, I would argue that Revolution was superior. Having had both now, I can say that they are just separate but equal.
Sublime’s treats aren’t overly sweet. They’re delicate and relatively light, you know, for a fried lump of dough covered in other sweet things. I am way into the peanut butter and chocolate one, because they fill that donut’s hole with peanut butter. Also it is way more appetizing than I just made that sound, I swear.
Last week I was in need of caffeine so I got their super deluxe iced latte (not its real name, sorry), which had caramel, chocolate, AND vanilla. While that should have been a recipe for a coma, it was surprisingly mellow with deep flavors. The syrups were not overly sweet (ironic, I know!) and the caramel was rich and nuanced. I think this may be my fave coffee drank in town!

The place reminds me of the Donut Bar in San Diego which does very similar type donuts. The donuts here were fresh (just came out a few minutes before we ordered them at 9pm). The peanut butter cup donut was my favorite but the others were just as fantastic.
I will keep this review short and SWEET. Great donuts, great texture and great flavor. ATL is fortunate to have a great donut shop!

Great donuts right across from GA tech. My favorite was the strawberries and crème. Fresh strawberries and delicious sugary crème stuffed inside fresh donuts topped with powdered sugar. Don’t share, just get your own. The Nutella donut was yummy and had a crunch to it, and the peaches and cream fritter was tasty with a great fresh peach flavor. I would love to come back and have more!!!

This place has been by far my most favorite doughnut shop in atlanta ever since it has opened. There is literally something for everyone here from fruit lovers, to candy bar lovers, chocolate, peanut butter, and cookie lovers. I really crave these treats and they are truly my fat kid weakness. I love their lighter flavors here. My absolute favorite is the orange star which is like a creamsicle. My other favorites are the frosted croissant, strawberries & cream, and smores. Kamal the owner is a Culinary Institute graduate and this expertise shows in how light and airy his pastry dough is, how well balanced the flavors are, and how consistent his product is. The other competitors honestly don’t come close.

There are a few really good doughnut joints in greater Atlanta and Sublime Doughnuts was probably the one to start the trend, though it was the most recent one that I tried. I stopped by to grab some thank-​you gifts for my instructors at The Iron Yard and popped my Sublime cherry. I got to try the White Chocolate Peach Fritter and the Sweet Potato Cake and found that while they were both good, they were pretty sweet for me. I almost gave up on Sublime after these two doughnuts but I held out hope. I still hadn’t gotten the Orange Dream Star and it looked pretty tasty from all the photos.
I got lucky because Sublime Doughnuts sponsored Techsgiving 2015 at General Assembly and they served smaller sized doughnuts, which gave me the chance to try flavors that I didn’t get a chance to try the first time. Shamelessly, I got the Orange Dream Star, Fresh Strawberries & Cream, and the Nutella. Of these, I loved the first two most, as they were super yeasty, fluffy, and not too sweet. The whipped cream in the Strawberry doughnut tasted fresh and was perfectly sweetened.
While Sublime isn’t in my neighborhood and I am not always in the area, I would not be against returning, especially for the Orange Dream Star and Strawberries & Cream.

I had only one mission — to get the maple bacon cheddar donut, which is only available on Saturdays. I got there and fortunately, there was still some to go around.
I’ve had a similar donut in Wisconsin before and that was way too sweet. This one from Sublime was soft, fluffy and had just the right amount of sweetness to it. I love it and now that I’m back in the Bay, I miss it so much!
It’s slight more pricey than the average donut (costing slightly above $ 2) but it’s definitely one to try out!

We got a dozen and got to try a sugar-​high inducing amount of flavors. The place is on the smaller side, but the line moves fast and finding a table isn’t the hardest. The donuts have very reasonable prices, too! Highlights for me were the A-​town mocha, reese peanut butter cup, and nutella. We had plenty of leftover donuts and, even though I had them 2 days ago, I’m still a bit hypeRR!

Another reason, GA is a reputable spot for yummy treats.
Heard this place was good so I stopped by here. Cute place with a sofa and donut pillows. Tables to be seated were plenty. The menu with pictures were helpful so if you mouth is full with a donut, just point to the next donut. Oreo, caramel etc. the combinations were so cool!
Keep a bottle of water with you. These are SWEETTTTTT

Alright, so, if you read my posts, you know that I love doughnuts. If you don’t, well, now you do. Literally every state that I travel to, I have to at least make one doughnut stop. And, bless their hearts, I’m not talking about Dunkin’ (although, I’m not elitist enough to be above them, they’re still super delicious), I mean local, independent shops, showcasing their finest. So, I had to put my doughnut pants on (usually with a forgiving waistband) and head over to Sublime Doughnuts in Atlanta.
Located in a somewhat unassuming little strip-​mall-​like plaza, these guys are serving up a combination of unique doughnuts made of yeast and some fritters. And, the décor is something to take note of too, from the large cartoon-​like graffiti wall, to the doughnut pillows on their couches, and all the doughnut themed merch.
They had so many doughnuts to choose from, that I had to restrain myself. I knew I’d be able to eat a ton, especially since they’re really affordable, but, you know, I gotta keep a little self control. So, I went for a fearsome threesome. First, I had the Chocolate Banana Fritter. The fritter itself was light, yet moist (ugh, I really hate that word), and had an excellent, subtle, banana flavor. Topped with some chocolate drizzle, you really can’t lose with this one.
Next, I had the Butterfinger, which was a special that day. It’s tough not to enjoy this one. I mean, you’ve got a candy bar inspired, deliciously light, and slightly chewy yeast doughnut, that’s dipped in chocolate and topped with crushed up Butterfinger bars. What. Is. Happening. In. My. Mouth? A party, that’s what.
Finally, I had the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. So, yeah, I love candy, and this was a no-​brainer. Luckily, it was also ridiculous, probably being my favorite one. Again, it starts with a delicious yeast doughnut. Then, it’s dipped in a milk chocolate, and filled with little pool of Reese’s style peanut butter. If that’s not enough, you get little chunks of the PB cups on top, because, you know, Reese’s. It’s simple, yet brilliant, and crazy good.

So I rarely eat sweets. I’m that type that would prefer a savory meal with an extra appetizer while skipping dessert. However, my friends convinced me to check out Sublime one late night and holy wow was I impressed. While the donuts weren’t exactly the freshest because we came in right before closing, they were still so good. I got the A-​town cream (because I love boston creams) and the raspberry filled heart. Both were so delicious, and so cheap! With the quality of ingredients and complexity of flavors, I really expected for these to run like $ 3 a pop. Surprisingly, their prices range from $ 1.25 to maybe $ 2 per! Totally affordable!
What made me like them even more… was that I won a free dozen doughnuts! During my 1^st visit I filled out one of their sweepstakes cards to be entered for a free dozen (located to the left of their register) and somehow the sugar gods smiled upon me — a few days later I received a voicemail saying I won and to let them know date/​time and what flavors I wanted! I could have gotten 12 of the same flavor or the most expensive, but instead i told them I trusted their judgement and wanted an assortment of their best sellers. And boy was that trust well warranted. I’m hosting a tasting party tonight and inviting a few friends over. May or may not have started the party on my own though…
As of now my favorites are: the reese’s, fresh strawberries and cream, butter toffee with caramel chocolate icing, and the orange dream star. Now excuse me as I slip into a sugar coma…

Sublime has a special place in my heart, and I’m excited for the new addition in North Druid Hills (good thing I left, that one would have been about a mile from where I was living). The owner, Kamal, is super nice. You can’t go wrong with the classic cream-​filled A, the fresh strawberry and cream (my fav), or any of the candy-​themed, guaranteed-​to-​make-​your-​sweet-​tooth-​hurt donuts.
My boss from my grad school job gave us a box of these on our last day. The ladyfrands and I stopped here whenever we happened to be in the area. A good friend gave me a couple on my last night in ATL. All were shared in happiness. Needless to say, some of my fondest memories of Atlanta are wrapped up in this special little treat.
