Mac’s Beer & Wine Midtown Liquor

I’ve never bought so much champagne in my life. With all bottles I bought, I could’ve probably taken a small bath and even have some splash out of the tub. But seriously, this champagne buyin’ endeavor wouldn’t have been amazing if it weren’t for several reasons:
I. SELECTION: Um, wow. Mac’s is like a SUV when it comes tosize and selection. The gigantic space houses everything from locally crafted beer to high-​end liquor. Oh, and did I mention that they have an amazing selection of champagne? No? Well, they do. Proseccos, Bollingers, etc… Yes. Everything.
II. SERVICE: Yes, it’s true. They have college boys (or dudes just outta) that… really know their stuff. And if they don’t know, the sommelier or another expert in the building does. Also, let’s say that they just don’t happen to know. Well, several self-​service barcode reading machines that can give you knowledge about each product.
III. PRICES: Great deals exist throughout the store. Oh, and I thought the champagne I bought was more than reasonable.
Overall, I’m definitely going to return in the future for all my drinking needs. Like maybe tomorrow.

I love this store. There are so many interesting drinks and alcohol that I wanted to try. There is also a food and items for the party.
The staff is very good. Always prompt and help you make a choice. If I planned a party at home, I know where to go to buy a good drinks.

I really like this liquor store, and not just because it’s right next door!
The guys who work here are always so nice & super helpful. I’ve never walked in and not been greeted, and the employees really know their stuff. I’ve asked a few obscure questions and they’ve always been able to help, or found someone there who could.
Additionally, their prices are surprisingly reasonable for a small local liquor store on a corner I imagine can’t be that cheap (one block south of 10^th & West Peachtree).
Cash & debit will get you a small discount as well :)

Mac’s lost me as a customer today. I recently went in and purchased 6 bottles of wine for a dinner party as I do quite often. When we opened one of the bottles it had gone bad and was obvious the cork had been leaking. I saved the bottle so I could return it. Fast forward to today, took it in and was told by a young lady that they couldn’t do anything without a receipt. I mean come on, I spend several hundred dollars a month!!! Just replace it!!! Some places have forgotten what customer service actually is…
Would love to hear a responce from the staff.

What is there to say about Mac’s that hasn’t been said before. Well here’s a couple of things I have noticed since I moved back to Atlanta. They are a complete beverage buying experience, they have liquor, beer, craft beer, wine, champagne, and all the mixers you can think of. They also have a knowledgeable staff that can’t recommend wines at whatever price point, or when asked offer opinions on almost any product in the store. They have a large parking lot, a full time security person and extremely reasonable prices. It’s my go to for Midtown bottle shops without question!

Covers all bases: good prices, good service, and good selection.
If they do not have what you are looking for just ask, they will either find it in store or may possibly order it specially for you. Slightly discounted prices when you pay in cash. Doesn’t get any better, until you go home and enjoy your purchases.

Mac’s has been a staple for me since I’ve been in ATL starting in the late 90s. I live in Grant Park and the few package stores in a short driving distance absolutely suck. Mac’s does a great job of stocking a good selection of beer, wine, and liquor. I don’t think I’ve ever left here w/​out spending $ 100. If you love local, they push all the local varieties which I love. I’m a bourbon guy and I always have to spend 5 minutes perusing their shelves of the wonderful brown stuff. They have their own parking lot which is rare in midtown. The store is feels updated, always clean, and the shelves are always stocked. You know what I mean if you’ve ever shopped the Tower in EAV. Service is always pleasant and helpful here. They also kindly pack all my bottles in a cardboard box for easy transport. Am I the only one paranoid abt those paper bags breaking?

Great selection and good prices. Service could use some serious improvements though.
I called before I came down here (since I had to walk 2 miles) to check if what I wanted was in stock and the prices. The guy sounded like he couldn’t wait for me to shut up. Once my questions were answered, I said thank you and was immediately hung up on. When making my purchase, I bought a 4 pack of red bull, The cashier (whom I suspect may have been the same guy on the phone), held my box of red bull ABOVE my paper bag and just dropped it in. Thanks for denting my cans, jerk. If I wanted to drink one of those now I would get an explosion of red bull in my face.
This type of «service» is unacceptable under any circumstances. The store was not even packed or anything either, there was no one in line. Terrible…

Hide yo kids, hide yo husbands and hide yo relatives because I go buck wild in here! This place is an alcoholic’s dream come true! I mean, they have a nice selection of spirits for the connoisseur.
The staff: bunch of college looking frat boys who KNOW their liquor. Very sweet, very respectful, and very knowledgeable about tasty beverages.
Selection: Very rarely does Macs not have something I’m in need of. This place is packed to the gills, so watch your elbows because you may accidentally bump into a very expensive display of Patron.. . just saying… (sorry about that!)
Price: Very well priced! not as expensive as some of their competitors, but also not bottom-​feeding cheap as well. Got cash? Good, because they got a discount for your cash carrying behind! No cash, no problem! They only charge about 50 cents+ for credit card transactions.
Only downfall — this place is busy and parking is a beast!

Nice place, good selection. Wish they sold Antigal Uno Malbec, but definitely a classy compliment to the area.

The hubs recently visited Mac’s for a bachelor party refueling station… which was in walking distance from their hotel, so naturally it was an easy decision. Their assortment of bourbon, vodka and scotch would impress any connoisseur but they also show love to the smaller lesser known brands which is always a win in his book. The store was a little difficult to navigate, but that was probably due to the alcohol still in his system. Another impressive thing was their vast array of craft beer. They also carry a line of ice cream (wait for it) infused with… alcohol. Damn this vegan life! Of course they have all the essentials that were forgotten like, cups, juice, practically anything that does not contain alcohol that are vital for a good time. It should be noted nothing else was shared relating to the bachelor party nor do I want to know. Ick!

Mac’s has been in Midtown forever and long considered the go-​to stop for Georgia Tech students and residents alike. After moving from it’s original location on Spring Street a few years ago, the new Mac’s is just a block away from its former location and now resides on West Peachtree.
The new location is spacious, brightly lit, and has a decent amount of both private lot and street parking that turns over rapidly. The service here really shines with super friendly staff who help pick items and pack the car. Mac’s stocks everything from craft beer to champagne with a massive assortment of liquor. Prices are extremely reasonable and volume discounts available for parties, weddings, etc.
They’ll easily earn your repeat business and consistently impress all the way around.

Check out the manager’s granite calves and rockin’ beard… sploosh.

They walk your bottle to the car !!! Whaaaaa! I stopped to buy Goose for a couple and I was shocked by what happened next !! The guy at the counter helped me and kindly walked my bottle to my car. Now that’s service !!!

Mac’s is the alcohol haven for essentially all Georgia Tech students. The location of this place is really close to campus unlike Green’s on Ponce and Northside on Northside. The prices at Mac’s are also in my opinion cheaper than both Green’s and Northside.
They offer a wide range of everything from beers, wines, vodka, scotch, tequila, rum, and even 4 loko’s. They have all your local Georgia brews from Sweetwater, Monday NIght, Red Brick, and Terrapin’s.
Also like all liquor stores they offer a cash discount of 3% I believe if you use cash or debit card and they have the prices posted per each item on the shelf.
The staff here are incredibly helpful/​knowledgeable and will also roll out the dolly to get your alcohol to your car.
The only negative thing to say is sometimes parking is extremely ridiculous in their lot even though it holds around 10 – 12 cars. So parking in the publix garage across the street may be wise if you’re also grocery shopping.

Totally friendly, cool dudes behind the counter. Being a giant ATL liquor store, they have everything.

Here’s the equation that makes Mac’s so awesome — and still, after nearly 10 years, my go-​to place for NYE booze:
eye candy + great service x awesome location = Willy goes back to Mac’s all the time
More than that equation, though, is the fact that they have a great selection of everything under the sun. are you dizzy with the 4,000 versions of vodka out on the market these days? me too! go to Mac’s and they’ll help you get it sorted.
this past NYE I had a engaged and friendly guy help me pick out some cheap champ for the event, and it worked out really well.
If you haven’t checked them out yet, definitely do. they run a great business — and you might even spot some GT lovelies while you’re there.

You have to be in decent shape to maneuver around the small aisles at Mac’s, but they have pretty much everything you could want at a liquor store. They stock all the standard stuff, plus a decent selection of craft beers, interesting rums, and pricey vodkas to make anyone happy.
Since Macs is located near Georgia Tech area, expect to be shopping with some barely-​legal frat guys agonizing over whether Skyy or Bacardi vodka is best to get their sorority cohorts drunk. But for me, it’s quite fun to eavesdrop on their conversations while browsing their wines on the sale rack (often under $ 5 a bottle!).
As for beer, they don’t have quite the already-​cold selection as say, Tower or Hop City. But if you can plan ahead they have a good variety of warm boxes available. Also, I’ve bought really nice beers as gifts from Mac’s a couple of times. I’ve never had an issue finding something decent to drink.
The employees have always been helpful, whether it being helping me find schnapps for a recipe (how do you pronounce that anyway?) or never letting me carry my alcohol out on my own, even if I’m parked in the very first spot outside the door.
And — can they really beat the fact that I can walk there from my place? I think not. I love you, Mac’s.

Mac’s is your one-​stop party-​shop in Midtown. I first became acquainted with Mac’s as an undergraduate at Georgia Tech in the early 2000s. This is back when they were at their old location near the Cheetah. As I have matured, so has Mac’s. Their location on West Peachtree is so convenient, I usually stop by on my way from work.
They’ve got a great selection of everything, I am partial to beer, and you’ll always find something interesting there to drink. The staff is courteous and helpful when you need it. The wine guys really know their wine, so it’s a good place if you aren’t sure what you want.
