Spur of the moment decided to get my hair done while in the area, the salon is nice looking and the stylists are friendly. Not only did my stylist give me a head massage during my shampoo but he deep conditioned my hair with a steamed towel as well, which felt great. The finished product of my hair was curled to the gods as I asked and was done so with precision! Definitely coming back!

I wish I could leave a great review for this salon but after two visits, it’s time for me to start searching for a new hair salon and a hair stylist who cares about the health of my hair and is consistent with service and respectful of time. My first visit was interesting and the initial wait was an hour even though I made sure that I was on time for my scheduled appointment with the owner. Time is important. I was going to walk out when suddenly, I was getting serviced. My total time spent at the salon was 4 hours and with a hefty price tag. The stylist even disappeared for 30 minutes, while I sat and waited, no explanation given. Five more minutes and I would have been history. The salon uses an online system for scheduling but the owner told me that she doesn’t use it and forgets about it. Most people call in for their appointments. Then why have it for scheduling? Ok.I just thought this was a fluke so the second time, my hair stylist was switched, not a real problem, but a «F» for customer service. She didn’t introduce herself or explain what she was doing or even if she was a licensed hair stylist. I had to ask. I noticed that one side of my hair is more relaxed than the other. Because I have very fine, soft hair I asked the stylist to put Phyto Index 2 on, comb thru once and rinse off, as the owner did the first time. Instead the relaxer stayed on my hair for 10 minutes and she kept combing and combing very slowly. That is why my hair broke off. She must have been deaf or just didn’t give a D*mn. But Karma is best served cold and what goes around comes around. On to the color, I asked for a light brown but what I got was a black. The color bleed on to my skin. The guy that blew dry my hair and styled me was going to allow the large stain of color to remain on my forehead. I had to comment on it for him to remove the color. If I could see it from where I was sitting and I wear glasses for distance, you know it was a mess. He wanted to trim my hair but definitely no. Plus he kept hitting my scalp with the hot iron when styling and burning me as well as pulling some hairs. I couldn’t wait to get out of there. When paying, I was asked if I wanted to leave a tip, are you really serious, how bold to ask that? They should be giving me a refund for such a poor job, and shame on the owner, Tanya for allowing and running her business so poorly. That’s why ethnic businesses(African American) fail because they are not taken seriously and the consistency/customer service usually doesn’t even exist. I have yet to see an ethnic business run like a business. The businesses that I have seen with AA stylists that operate smoothly and as a business with a robust customer base usually have an non-ethnic(white) owner running the show. Really sad. I have found that ethnic stylists try to be masters with everything as not to divide the money pool, even when they clearly are not. Where non-ethnic stylists specialize and are experts in certain areas and they are known and booked just for that service. Some just do color, some are Masters at cuts. etc… This place clearly doesn’t care whether I pay the large amount for a service from $ 145 – 160, return for repeat business or even refer others, which I never would. I am looking for a stylist who is passionate and serious about his or her business and it shows not only in the work done but also in the consistency of service. I know there’s a stylist in Atlanta who can co-create with me on the goals that I have for healthy, vibrant, strong hair. The search continues…
