Had a fantastic dinner celebrating my husband’s birthday. The steaks were fantastic and the service was over the top! Highly recommend for a special occasion.

Omg, one of the worst meals I’ve ever tasted. I ordered a rib-eye and the gave me a sirloin. No marbling at all and tough as nails. It was initially brought out well done but they quickly had a medium one in front of me. My wife had a end cap rib– eye that was better than mine but not great. Butternut squash risotto was God awful. Had better sides in a tv dinner. Cream corn was okay. I can make better at home. Service was awesome. No complaints at all there. The one high note was the wagyu beef app. and the drinks. Very disappointing considering i only do places like this 3 – 4 times a year. I feel like I took $ 340 and threw it in the gutter. Bones is still the best.

Definitely an indulgence! Hubs and I came went in last night for a dinner date and were completely wowed by everything. Aaron was a great server and we will definitely be asking for him whenever we go back! Started off with the thick cut bacon & received complimentary lobster fritters. Both were so good! We shared the porterhouse for 2, which comes presliced, and the presentation of it was pretty fantastic. We also had the mushroom & onions and mashed potatoes to accompany it, and were also brought the corn(also complimentary) So glad that they brought us the corn, because it was definitely my favorite side of the 3. We had the matcha cheesecake, peach crisper(?), and tiramisu baked alaska for dessert. Lets just say my sweet tooth was definitely satisfied. Loved every single one. Hubs at the whole tiramisu, and I was able to take the crisper and cheesecake home. All in all, definitely worth every penny coming here. I loved that their steak has the char to it, and the flavor and presentation of everything was definitely something to remember. Can’t wait to go back!

What can I say this is a classic steakhouse with a great nouveau rustic atmosphere. Service was impeccable. Meal for 2 with 2 cocktails was under $ 200 with tip. Venison carpaccio appetizer was excellent. They could have skipped the arugula — it overwhelmed the delicate flavor of the paper thin slices raw venison and truffle aioli. 10oz prime rib eye steak was perfectly prepared medium rare and positively perfect. It is great to see a more reasonable 10 oz portion. Smoked wilted greens were a tasty side. Vanilla ice cream bon bons — 3 larges bon bons filled with vanilla ice cream, salted with a caramel scrape. The bon bons are quite large and can be easily shared. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a first class steak house in Atlanta.

Would eat at this place more often if I could afford it. Dinner and appetizers we «off the chain» as the nephew says. The ambience was relaxed and quiet although it felt a party could bust out at anytime. We ended dinner with a drink on the patio facing the belt line. What a great venue. Consider an early dinner to avoid the wait and get better service! Will definitely go back for more and try all the yummy selections on the menu.

I took my parents here when they were in town. The service was excellent and the food was just as great! I had the Filet and it was cooked perfectly. We ordered tons of sides, definitely didn’t need to… they’ll feed plenty. Oh, and the moscato wine they had was probably the best I’ve ever had!!! Wish I would have asked the name of it!

Finally, my wife and I went to Rathburns Steak for my birthday. Absolutely fabulous! I will say, as reported, it is a little dark and noisy but what makes this restaurant special is the way they elevate the old school concept of steak to another level. The nuances such as crab fritters and steak carpaccio are upscale current restaurant fare, but the steak is still good olé fashioned properly done, well aged, tender, unadulterated streak. Started with drinks and lobster fritters. Good start. Went straight for the steak for two with the add on of a lobster shrimp topping. The steak comes out sliced which I really liked and had a huge bone. It was cooked perfectly in au jus. The plate is then tilted so that you can cut your steak and dip it in the au jus. What a outstanding touch! Superb. The flavor of the steak is like nothing I have ever had. Yes I said it. it was just that good. Just perfection. Now if that was not good enough the topping was a mixture of sweet lobster meat with shrimp and a complex sauce with cilantro with a little heat that we just could not believe how good it was. I am not sure if this side was just a special for the night but I would come back just to eat that. Again, this is the nuance that Kevin Rathburn provides that no other steak house in Atlanta I have found does. Not that the others are not great, Rathburns is just at another level. I am not going to make this long, bottom line, whatever you have to do get to Kevin Ratburn Steak and see for yourself. It is a experience you will not forget.

WOW! This place does not disappoint! Great place for special occasions & one to take out of town guests to show off Atlanta’s culinary prowess. I’ve been on more than one occasion & recently took my parents when they were visiting. Do yourself a favor & make a reservation far in advance. The place is crazy busy — & I’ve never seen more selfies taken at a restaurant(again, a special occasion mecca). Lots of couples celebrating anniversaries, birthday groups, etc… We were well taken care of from the moment we walked in. Our server was prompt & friendly and helped us navigate the menu. We ordered the Wagyu beef carpaccio($ 14.75) to start — melt in your mouth amazing! The horseradish topping is tasty(even to a horseradish hater!). Since everyone else was ordering steak, I ordered the Colorado rack of lamb($ 46). We also ordered a side of charred jalepeno corn($ 9.50). My lamb was tender & delicious. And the samples of everyone’s steak I had were exquisite! Words can do no justice! The corn was award-worthy — I couldn’t get enough! Everything was amazing & we all are every last drop of everything on the table! Because we were celebrating a special occasion, we received a complimentary baked Alaska. As stuffed as we were, we managed to find some room for dessert! Be prepared to spend some dough when you come here. Delicious? Yes! Inexpensive? No! Worth it? Absolutely!!!

When our small group of old college and high school friends get together for our periodic meetings, whether it’s in Atlanta or Boston or New Orleans or Asheville or in the Caribbean or wherever, we try to have at least one meal at a steak house. At previous Atlanta meetings, we’ve eaten at Bones(where George H.W. and Barbara Bush sat at the table next to us), Chops, Ruth’s Chris and Capital Grille. This time, we tried Kevin Rathbun Steak. Only one of us had been here before. I’d have to say it wasn’t what I expected in a premium steak house. For one thing, in the main dining room the noise level was so darn high it was almost impossible to talk. Tables are jammed together. Most of the patrons looked like they had headed out to Applebee’s but had made a wrong turn into this $ 125-a-head eatery. Kevin Rathbun’s is the very opposite from the clubby atmosphere of, say Morton’s or The Palm, or even the wonderful old-time Manhattan steak house atmosphere of Sparks or the old Brooklyn feel of Peter Luger. I guess I’m just not Atlanta enough to appreciate the Kevin Rathbun atmosphere. It’s obviously wildly popular with real Atlantans. As to the food, sure, it was fine. A couple of us had what our waiter said was a special ribeye offered that night, «the best, most marbled cut of the ribeye.» It went for $ 6 an ounce, and both of us had the 10-ounce cut. That was a mistake, as it was much too thin, medium rare. I should have had the 16 oz. strip rare and charred for about the same price. One of us had the regular ribeye, also 10 oz. for $ 30-something, and at least it was thicker. Another member, trying to eat healthy at a steak house(probably not possible), had the caesar salad and the salmon. My vodka Gibsons were great, cold, dry and large, and they helped. Another in our party had a gin martini and noted that it wasn’t cold enough, which is the greatest sin a bartender can make with a martini. My escargot appetizer was«baked» with the snails not in shells but in a buttery, herby sauce without much garlic. The sides, especially the mashed potatoes and creamed spinach(all the sides are $ 9.50 each) were excellent. Nothing to complain about in terms of service or our waiter. However, at our next Atlanta get-together, for our steak dinner I suspect we’ll head back to Bones.

Excellent steak. My expectation was as high as it can get, and I’d say I left the restaurant satisfied. Eric, our server was professional and courteous. My friend and I were taking all the time in the world chattering while nibbling on our appetizer, nevertheless there wasn’t any moment we felt rushed. According to my friend, who is also an aficionado of fine food, Mock Turtle Soup tasted just like genuine turtle soup, and she went on saying how impressed she was. Smoked Salmon Pita was amazing too, although ouzo cucumbers was unfamiliar to me. We were both very satisfied with our choices of appetizer. Needless to say, everything about Snake River Farms Wagyu Flat Iron was perfect. Temperature, portion, level of juiciness, and the rest. I enjoyed Potato Rosti that was served on side too. Surprisingly, desserts were ok. Usually dessert is my favorite part of the meal anywhere I go, but Salted Caramel Pot de Crème was tad too salty for my taste. Perhaps because preceding courses were overly delicious… Whatever the reason, I wasn’t bothered much. Next time, I’ll just order an extra glass of wine instead of dessert. I loved the ambience too. Now that the weather is warming up, patio would be lovely for next visit.

Ugh(head palm) what a let down. I ordered the bone in and it was over cooked. They brought out another and it was bloody. I couldn’t win that night. The fried lobster appetizer was yummy, the bacon appetizer sent my blood pressure up it was soo salty. However the service ranks up there with the best I have ever received. I will come back and give them a try not because of the food but because I was truly accommodated with excellent service. I will just order sides or chicken.(shrugs)

Mmmmmmm. Tuna poke was excellent. Beet salad was my FAVORITE. Lobster was a bit overcooked. Scallops was seared to perfection. Spinach was cooked exactly how I wanted it(garlic-y without any butter). 4⁄5 foods was spot on, so this deserves a solid 4 stars. Environment is very chic and eloquent — I’d recommend coming here for a celebration or if you’re seeking romantic type of vibes. I would absolutely come here again.

Amazing food to say the least. Service. We had Kevin from Heaven who was in the bar. Solid and on point service. The girls thought he was from Heaven. Bar seating is almost as good as the dining if you don’t have a reservation. Steak — my friend and I had the bone in ribeye. Medium rare. It melted in your mouth. Also had some sides — steamed broccoli with lots of cheese. Corn with jalapeños was really good. Appetizers-lobster was very tasty, short ribs both versions were money.

The best steak house in Atlanta, and on par with any in the States. The cowboy ribeye is an incredible piece of aged meat. Just spectacular. The bar here is far more comfortable than at Rathbun’s proper. An awesome selection of bourbon served up by a knowledgable bartending staff. If you’re into wine, well they’re good at that, too.

Came here for the second time. The highlights of this place is the service is awesome and it was consistent with the last visit. Our server took care of us and made great recommendations for sides and even wine choices. The server followed through on all steps of service and made me feel taken care of. Foodwise, their sides and appetizers were great. Their steak was ok(Ordered rare ribeye) but if you are talking to me, I haven’t found a steak place that serves great steaks and I’ve been to Peter Luger’s in NYC, American Cut in NYC, and here. As of now, I believe my friends and I can cook better steaks. Btw try their cheesecake dessert. It’s so good!

Loved the funkiness of the aged cowboy ribeye($ 78). It was enough for the two of us to share. We also had the mushrooms($ 10) and shared a Caesar salad($ 10). I would skip the bacon though($ 1025) because it comes smothered with this sweet sauce that just ruins it. Maybe ask for the sauce on the side. Overall a great meal with high quality ingredients and a friendly staff.

Can’t believe I forgot to check in here last night but had a late reservation for me and my son for a special celebration. He was wanting to hit a high end steak house in Atlanta so had to pick between Chops, Bones, Kevin Rathbun and we went for the furthest from home– Kevins. Arrived a bit early so went to the bar to have a cold IPA and opted for one of the appetizers– the thick cut bacon. Damn– that was good!!! If my son didn’t have ¾ gone before I snagged a piece, not sure I would have had a bite but tasty, thick and addictive… It was gone in a minute. Finally table called a bit late — but we were ready and had already studied what we wanted before we arrived 1. Started with apps– the Lobster Fritters and Bone marrow. The Fritters we’re 4 bites of pure lobster heaven. So we ordered another one as there are only 4 bites, and closed our eyes and each got a whole app. 2. The Bone Marrow was something my son had not tried and it was fantastic! 2 large bones, crisp bread, and cranberry compliment to mix. Scoop out the marrow, spread on cracker, add a bite of cranberry, wow. We both loved it, loved the presentation and dug right through it. 3. Anticipating our entrée– we then ordered Foie Gras so it would arrive with the entrees. Stole a small bite but wanted to share with the entrees. 4. For Entrees– we did a Bone in Filet –MR– a 16OZNY Strip and for sides the cooked spinach and the best– the cream jalapeño corn. 5. The Filet was perfect. Actually, the first bone in filet I’ve ever had– and I have had a lot of Filets– cooked perfect, juicy, loved pulling the bits off the bone. Put a slice of foie gras, and the black truffle butter– OMG… perfect. To compliment both meals– we ordered a whole steamed lobster tail so paired that as well with the corn, spinach, foie gras, spinach and a good merlot– it can’t get any better, 6. The NY Strip was perfectly cooked and paired as well just as I did my Filet. Perfectly cooked R/MR, tender, tasty– mixed with all the goodies– it was a LOT of food. Service from Eric was spot on, great recommendations and made sure we were happy all night! 7. Still not done. Although I had now had a beer, some wine, a Whisky(lots of water) — had to get a desert so we went for the Crème Brûlée. Thick coating of blazed on sugary crispy bark– the way I like it, and a wonderful vanilla crème inside. We dug in and were done. — We thought. As I like to finish a meal with a cordial– I opted for a Hennesy VSOP, and with a large Cigar option– I chose a good Romeo /Julieta and headed to the outside patio to finish the evening. Probably one of the most relaxed evenings and only regrets was I was not on expense account– which I usually am for places like KR, so albeit buyers remorse in the $$$$ spent, worth it for my son who keeps reaching his goals and loves his experiences in some finer things in life and has earned every experience he has had. Thanks for the great night KR!

Kevin Rathbuns Steak never disappoints! Came here again for Inman Park Restaurant Week because you just can’t beat the deal! I ordered the sautéed harissa shrimp as my appetizer which was slightly spicy but still tasty, the filet with parmesan creamed cabbage for me entrèe(OMGDELICIOUSANDTHESTEAKWASCOOKEDANDSEASONEDTOPERFECTION! SOTENDER!), and the praline pot de crème which was alright. I got a glass of the Conn Creek Herrick Red and it was an excellent choice(a new fave) which is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah. The ambiance is intimate and cozy. The service is always great and the waiters are knowledgable and friendly. Great restaurant for a date night it just a night out with friends to enjoy great food.

Kevin Rathbun Steak has always been a dreamlike place, in sight but never within reach. A restaurant of the gods, this ethereal restaurant was finally a reality due to the occasion of a special birthday dinner. A reservation was made for 5 at 8:15 pm on a Thursday evening, as that was the earliest time they could squeeze us in the day before. Unlike many upscale restaurants, they did not ask us if this meal was for a «special occasion». Parking seems to be valet only, but we parked a short walk before the restaurant, which was free. We were seated in a back corner, which seemed almost like their only available seat, but also made it more intimate, although not more quiet. The inside of the restaurant is SO loud. I was expecting a high class restaurant with a quiet murmur of noise. Instead, it was a constantly building uproar of white noise. Not the most romantic date spot, for sure. Our Asian server, June(spelling?) was very pleasant and funny and helped accommodate our every whim. We took our time deciding and making our orders and he seemed pretty patient. I ended up ordering a gin cocktail at the last minute, «The Sundowner,» which included Hendrick’s gin and Aperol. It was very strong, but thanks to the ice, became a little more mild once the ice melted. It was definitely not a fruity drink, but is a great option for gin enthusiasts. My friend and I decided to split the«Dry-Aged Steak for 2,» which consisted of a dry aged 18 oz. Porterhouse cut, my favorite. Half filet and half NY strip, I believe you can never go wrong with a bone-in medium rare Porterhouse. We ordered the thick slices bacon as an appetizer and the sides we split a la carte with my birthday friends, who each ordered a dry-aged cowboy ribeye. We were all pretty excited about the jalapeño cream corn, Brussels sprouts, mashed potatoes and mac and cheese. Complimentary bread was pretty good. The cheesy bread was delicious and warm, but the brown bread was a little meh for me… The thickly sliced bacon was ok. The meat was tender, but it reminded me so much of the all you can eat cuts of marinated Korean BBQ pork belly… I don’t know if that’s worth $ 10. The dry aged porterhouse was just enough for the two of us, although we didn’t had huge appetites. The server brought us the steak and showed us the cook on the medium rare meat. Near the bone, we found later, it was nearly raw. Like, we couldn’t chew the meat and it was cold. But that’s the risk you run with bone-in steak… Different from the Bone’s porterhouse where they remove the bone and the meat is cooked evenly throughout. Jalapeño cream corn and mac and cheese are the way to go. The cream corn had a great jalapeño kick, and the corn wasn’t just mush, as I have seen seems to be the trend of southern cooking. The Mac and cheese is light but still cheesy. The Brussels sprouts weren’t bad, but they had me at bacon and mushrooms, which I didn’t see much of throughout the dish. I was also hoping for a less soggy dish. The menu warned us in the description of the ingredients for the mashed potatoes that they only had«butter.» And that seemed to be the case here. Those mashed potatoes were super salty. I know some of the guys struggled with their dry aged cowboy ribeye. They were severely undercooked, but when they cut me a piece, it was tough and hard to chew. I wasn’t too impressed with their meat, but I loved the filet portion of our porterhouse steak. No complimentary dessert for birthdays, or so we thought until our server June brought us a small slice of chocolate cake to go. Thank you for the thought… The three birthday boys could share that one slice. I wasn’t as disappointed in my meal as the boys were. My recommendation? Go ahead and make the plunge into the deep end and order the Dry Aged Steak for 2 or for 3, as the porterhouse cut is much better than the ribeye. I don’t know if it was an off night or what, but the ribeye was pretty bad quality. Kevin Rathbun’s gave us a great attempt at a good dry-aged steak, but Bones is still number one in my eyes(and mouth and stomach).
