we live in a day that it is hard to find a good Chinese food. Love the basics here pepper steak, sweet and sour chicken, orange chicken, general tsu chicken etc… Soups here are very good. Always good service. very busy at lunch time. parking is okay.

Excellent traditional Chinese food. Great service. Consistent. The atmosphere is average, but you will get a tasty meal. Try the spicy string beans with chicken.

I have been coming to this place for the past 9 years for lunch. I’m in love with their general tsu’s chicken. I haven’t been here for 4 months and I was craving their general tsu’s chicken. I placed an order over the phone and added hot and sour soup. When I got to my desk, I looked at the sauce and it was liquidity not syrupy. I took one bite and the flavor wasn’t the same. Well, I got all excited about their hot and sour soup and I took one slip and it tasted water down and it didn’t have that enuff. I’m taking the food home to spice it up to my liking.

Love their steamed veggie pot stickers, chicken or beef with fresh broccoli, Mongolian beef. Great spring rolls as well, and sweet corn chicken soup is awesome. Always had terrific service when dining in. I’ve moved away from this area but Fortune Cookie’s food is worth dealing with all the traffic hassles. I’ve enjoyed their Sunday lunch buffet in the past, very good and fresh with great selection of dishes, though I haven’t been in a few years. Overall my favorite Chinese place in DeKalb.

The egg drop soup was excellent and bright, the wonton broth was flavorful! Only small disappointment was the scant wonton. The dinner for 1 combos were excellent to try out a few things for the first time. The highlight was the Mongolian ribs. Too much food for one sitting but made my husband quite happy.

Pros: The restaurant was clean(and has a 91 Dekalb Health score) and the service was friendly and not rushed, very nice people. The quality of the meat on both our Mongolian Beef and Hot & Spicy Garlic Pork was high and fresh. Cons: Okay I expected American-style Chinese and was not disappointed by a menu that is straight out of the 1970s. What wasn’t okay, was that the food was not as described. The sauce for both the beef and pork dishes was identical, an overly sweet brown sauce with no seasoning at all. There was no hot or garlic either one in the pork, and so much sugar in the sauce that reheating it at home with Chinese spices and hot sauce and garlic couldn’t overcome the sugar. The fried rice served tasted of old oil and was clearly made a few days prior then reheated. The egg drop soup was bland beyond belief as well. If they had cooked the two dishes correctly, even as «American Style,» I would go back. But they aren’t making the effort to cook these with appropriate seasoning, or in the case of the fried rice ~ fresh to order. Won’t be going back.

Best Chinese food in the area! Try the chin pe chicken or the crispy sesame beef. The fried rice and wonton soup are amazing as well. They even catered to a vegetarian friend for us one night. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly We regularly get take out and dine in. The quality is always great!

Got the lunch special chicken and broccoli. It was light and refreshing, not too salty because they used the white sauce. Good price too.

Excellent food… haven’t had a dish here that didn’t please. The hot & sour soup is hands down the best I’ve ever tasted!!! Just the right amount of heat and a hint of sour… wish I had the recipe. The dinner portions are large and more than enough for two people to share. Noone ever wants the same thing so we always have a ton of carryout to take home. The restaurant is popular for lunch so plan to arrive early of you have a short lunch break. On the weekends it crowds for dinner, so again I suggest arriving early or calling for pickup. When dining in the staff is very attentive and friendly. Some of my favorites here: hunan chicken, chicken egg foo yung, shrimp and lobster sauce, Mongolian beef… I could go on and on!!!

No problem with service it was decent. Food was surprisingly ok too. I had Mongolian chicken and ribs, they tasted very sweet. The carpet in the restaurant needs to be removed very nasty and carries a horrible scent. They have an 81 score posted near entrance. I won’t be returning.

One of my favorite places for a no frills meal — excellent won ton soup. Never a bad meal; always consistent. Polite, prompt, professional service. The owners are always so genuinely welcoming; I’m happy to support their family business. Highly recommended.

I went for the first time after passing this place so many times on the way home. I went during lunch. Nice steady crowd but my guest and I were seated immediately. Service was prompt and efficient. The waitstaff very pleasant. ‘the food was absolutely great! I love this place. Highly recommended.

Yea. Food is good but I don’t like a side order of rude with my meal. Not nice at the restaurant and on the phone they are short with you and cut you off. Good luck if you try them.

The best thing was the fish tanks… If you like the super sweet salty and gooey Chinese food where every sauce will leave your teeth ringing, then this place is for you. Soooo sweet! Even the Szechuan dish was sweet. Service was sketchy, but they were kind enough to seat us next to the anemone tank because my grandson requested it. I would rather have spent my sugar allotment on some dessert than on shrimp and green beans.

I ordered from them last night at 6p(Christmas). They said it would be delivered in 75 minutes but it arrived in 50 minutes. The food was piping hot — as in, I had to wait a couple minutes to eat it. This was my first call to them and I had pretty low expectations as I just moved here from Boston where there are some great Chinese restaurants. The orange chicken was *amazing*, the steaming pot stickers good(a bit doughier than I’ve had before) and the spring rolls were decent(again, I’ve had better). I ordered Mu Shu chicken but couldn’t even eat it, I was so full. It looked and smelled delicious. Would be great if you could order online as ordering on the phone was a bit difficult — or improve the ability to order on the phone. I’ll definitely order from them again.

Ok, so straight up… one of these stars is for pure nostalgia alone! I’ve been coming to Fortune Cookie for at least 15 years, seriously. I love the fact that they know my name and always ask about my family. It’s like a Chinese version of «Cheers» LOL. In all honesty, the restaurant is a bit of a hole in the wall. But, for me… that’s alright if I truly enjoy the food. Which, I do!!! The exterior of the entire Plaza had a recent makeover and facelift, so it looks better from the outside. But, the food is old school, Americanized Chinese food and its super comforting to me. I’ve done both takeout and dine in over the years. For the takeout, they are usually earlier than the expected time of arrival, which is nice. When I am looking for a laid-back and tasty, no frills meal(and have the time)…I like to dine in. There are a few staples I enjoy every time – Mandarin Combination(under the Gourmet Specialties) includes Beef, Chicken and Shrimp in «special» brown sauce, with assorted veggies. I pair this with steamed white rice and that dish has been a winner for me on multiple occasions. I’m also a fan of the Phoenix and Dragon, which is Chicken breast and Shrimp in a white wine, ginger, garlic sauce, with assorted veggies. My final«go to» menu item is the Spicy and Tangy Lamb(also under Gourmet Specialties), which comes in a hot, brown sauce with assorted veggies. Again, I have not gone wrong with this dish ever. Overall, I appreciate Fortune Cookie for being exactly what it claims to be… consistently good, solid Chinese food in a dive setting. In all the years I’ve been coming here, to memory, I had 1 off experience with my meal some years back(sauce wasn’t cooked well) and they did their best to rectify the situation. So I don’t really have any complaints. If you’re in the mood for Chinese food And you’re in the area… check it out. You may like it :-). Happy Eating!!!

First time ordering delivery; it was over an hour wait, even though we literally live across the street. The food was horrible; sweet & sour chicken was dry, even with the sauce & Mongolian beef tasted like it was done in the microwave. First & last time!

I ordered Mongolian beef, MA Po Tofu, and spicy and sour soup. The take out service is good and quick. I waited for take out and it only took me 10 – 12 mins. The food is just ok. Ma Po tofu is spicy but I am wondering they put salt in it? cuz it wasn’t salty and I need to add soy sauce myself. Mongolian beef is only ok. I suggest people not to order this one if you are from Asian or you have been to a lot of Chinese restaurant. The food is just not as good as average performance. Spicy and sour soup is usually my favorite but not at Fortune Cookie.

We ordered deliver from here. They said it would be an hour to an hour and ten minute and they came in 45 minutes. That was pleasant surprise! We ordered Mongolian beef, chicken low mein, shrimp & asparagus, and general tso chicken… all were pretty good. Tasty and hot. The shrimp were big and fresh. I would order from here again. Only thing is that they bring a lot of fortune cookies… maybe I need to order less ;-)

Ugh I’m sorry to say it but you let me down. This is one of my go to spots. The Rangoon is killer! HUGE portions. Welp, I’ve been sick and can’t really drive around so I called for delivery right before 2. The restaurant doesn’t close between lunch and dinner. I was interrupted from the get go. Told ah we start dinner soon(something along those lines bc she was talking over me). You can call back around five for delivery… Sooo wait three hours? I’m sorry but this is the SLOWEST time of the day everywhere. I work in a restaurant. I know how it works. I’m disappointed. Make a note on your site that you stop deliveries from two to five please. I wouldn’t have waited for a slower time to call if I knew.

Great, fresh food. Reasonable prices, and a good location in ATL. Takeout is fresh and is always good. My go-to Asian sit-down and take-out spot. I’ve tried a few in the area and this is the best by far.

Food was decent. The service was lacking. Probably wouldn’t come back, but if you’re in the area, and you are hungry and willing to spend more than usual on Chinese food, come here. I’d probably pick Golden Buddha or Canton Buddha over Fortune Cookie though.

We phoned and ordered, it would be great if we could order from the Unilocal app? I’m Australian so I think it took a little longer to order due to my accent. The phone operator was lovely and she said it’d be around an hour for delivery(it’s Saturday night, 9pm). The order was delivered within 40mins which was great. The chicken and sweet corn soup, delicious. The garlic chicken, delicious, and the Mongolian lamb delicious too. We ordered house rice and got this and plain rice, as well as bonus cookies and things. Thankyou, our favorite Asian delivery we’ve had since being in the states(we’ve been here 5 months or so).

First time we ordered a delivery from here and it will be the last time. They told us on the phone that it would take 45 mins to 1h. When the food still hadn’t arrived 1h after ordering it I called and an extremely rude lady told me that normally it could take up to 1h15. We waited a total of 1h45 to get our delivery. The food eventually arrived and it truly wasn’t very good. We had to warm it up and it was all extremely greasy. First and last time.

I have lived in Atlanta for 4 years now, and I am so glad I made this discovery. I tried so many Chinese restaurants in Atlanta that were lack luster or just plain disgusting. However, the Fortune Cookie far surpassed my expectations. When dining in or for take out, you get very large portions so you definitely have left overs. The food has never been soggy and always delicious. I have tried the General Tso’s, Chin Pe chicken, Orange Beef, String bean chicken, and Sweet and Sour Chicken — all have been absolutely delicious. Glad my search is over for a solid Chinese restaurant. If you are looking for solid Americanized Chinese, this is the place to go!

I’ve only eaten takeout from here, but it’s always been pretty good. I especially like the General Tso’s chicken. Delivery has always been on time thus far, and as far as Chinese delivery goes, this feels a bit cleaner than most.

Sometimes you just want Chinese food. And sometimes you just want to hit up a Chinese buffet. No shame in my game. Embrace it. I’ve been to a couple off Buford highway and NEVERAGAIN! Worst decision ever. There aren’t many good ones if any at all in the metro Atlanta area to my knowledge. Chinese buffets just aren’t a thing around here(being the N. Druid/Buckhead/Brookhaven area). Came here for the Sunday buffet. Pretty small place but clean. Didn’t have to wait. The buffet is small. There are about 9 main dishes, soup, white and fried rice, crab rangoons, and egg rolls. I’m okay with them having only 9 main entrees because they can focus on cooking those well. Nothing was dried up from being neglected like you would see at larger buffets where they have so many things to cook and replenish. The crab rangoons here are huge. Bigger than any other place Chinese place I’ve been to period. The servers are quick with refills, which is a plus. Overall, the food is good. Everything tastes great, nothing is over cooked or dry. I’m coming back here if I’m ever craving Chinese food.

If you have a craving for some decent Americanized Chinese takeout, then I’d recommend Fortune Cookie to you. It’s above average when compared to other Americanized Chinese takeout restaurants. It still is Chinese takeout, however. If you’re looking for more authentic dishes you should head to Buford Highway. Service speed is extremely fast when they’re not busy. I usually go to Fortune Cookie when it’s late and I have no motivation to cook. Both times I ordered from there, the food was ready by the time I got to the restaurant. I should also note that this is earlier than the time which is promised over the phone. Not sure how fast this place is during regular dinner hours. Food, as I said, is above average for a Chinese takeout restaurant, but it’s still Chinese takeout. The stir fry dishes are big and have plenty of meat and vegetables. Vegetables are your usual potpourri of broccoli, carrots, and mushrooms. Meat is soft and tender — almost too soft. For the Hunan beef, the sauce is okay. I never expect takeout sauce to be amazing — I’d say it’s what you usually get when you order Hunan beef takeout. The«beef and scallops sizzling» dish is a little better than the Hunan beef. I appreciate how they don’t skimp on the scallops. The chicken dishes vary a bit. I liked their house special chicken, which had big chunks of meat and a sauce I liked. Sesame chicken, though, was not as impressive. This dish has flat pieces of fried meat, which were a little bit on the dry side. Good sesame chicken is juicy — this one wasn’t. I’d give Fortune Cookie three and a half stars if I could. A nice touch is that there are holes poked in the tops of the takeout containers so the steam can escape. Just be careful not to let the containers tilt when you’re in the car.
