Alexander at the District

Overall experience of living here is a 3.75 to a 4.
1^st year: 3.5 star
2^nd year: 4 star (Paul made major improvements to the gym — extra point!)
I lived here from April 2014 to Feb 2016. I just moved out this past weekend! Honestly, if Alexander at the District was full of condos, I’d buy an unit in a heartbeat. Just because the location is really good: 3 seconds from a Highway, can walk to a bunch of shops/​resturants/​Starbucks, and kind of gated (the parking decks). I actually decided to leave this Apt Complex since I found a condo and had to be an adult. Sigh. :(
Some things I’d probably add if it were a condo are … ²⁴⁄₇ Security Guard, a front gate, and a little better care of the inside halls of the buildings (rugs and paint). Nothing too crazy.
Parking for Residents: There are 2 decks — 1 that’s visible for Buildings 2 & 3 and 1 deck for Building 1 in the back (sortof). I personally loved Building 1’s deck — easier access to the Highway, Walmart below, the shops, and the mail area.
Parking for Guests: 1^st floor of each deck. I think there are more than enough spots for Guests. If there aren’t any left, just let your guest in. It’s easy to go downstairs and let them in via gate.
I did hear there were some car break in problems, but not in Building 1 deck… and Alexander always sent out letters if there was any commotion. If you’re deciding which Building is best in general (noise and etc) — Building 1 is the way to go. I LOVED my unit.
Inside — my unit had everything brand new — from kitchen to bedroom. I really can’t complain about anything. My balcony view wasn’t very pretty, BUT I never used it. I stepped out only once during my stay and it was when I was moving out and had to put extra stuff inside.
My roommate’s bedroom was the master — walk in closet, huge bathroom area, and a big bedroom. My room was the Guest bedroom (smaller closet, smaller bathroom, and hallway bathroom) — BUT I had the extra closet on my side served as my drawer. If you’re like me and barely have anything — stay in the Guest. If you’re like my roommate and have a TON of stuff — stay in the master. My roommate and I thankfully are opposite people. Oh — the rooms are on a roommate floor plan.
Gym got better with my 2^nd year. More stuff to use. the TVs are ok. I’d bring your own entertainment.
Management: I’ve never really had problems… but that’s because I was friends with them. BE NICE to your management: P Will save you trouble.
You can get to Wal Mart in 10 seconds via walking and using the elevators (they did break down sometimes, but the Management fixes them within 24 hours). You can’t beat that kind of commute for a shopping place. Oh and Kroger is a 2 min walk as well.

i have lived here for a year and everything seemed to be going fine, until 6 months into living there a new management company took over and fired all the staff. Since then things are mediocre at best. They spent unnecessary money painting the entire complex some ridiculous colors, when it was fine the way it was. Money would of been better spent replacing the nasty carpet in the clubhouse and hallways! Here’s the real kicker… I went ahead and signed another lease only to have my apartment burglarized! I have been one of 4 in less than a month! I don’t recommend! Lots of apartments being built on Westside. Do yourself a favor and keep looking…

Well I thought I was going to move here but with trash always full, Maintence not on the job, carts everywhere, trash in breezeways, car & apartment break-​ins. I guess I will stay right where I am. Thanks but no thanks. You lost me as a tenant.

It used to be such a great complex to live in with great facilities and wonderful staff, but it’s just a bunch of extremely rude people running the place. Ever since the new management came in, they have cancelled the Zumba classes because they stopped paying the instructor, they cancelled the monthly breakfast meet up for the residents and the most annoying part they removed the system I sending email confirmation in car you have a package. So, the delivery guy wanders across the halls and just keeps your package outside your door if you are not there in the middle of the corridor. And in case it’s delivered on the office, there is no way for you to know.
I could go on and on about how ugly it’s gotten, but in short if you are looking for an apartment in midtown, stay away from this! You will regret if you don’t!!!
