Description

Specialties

Adamah Adventures is an outdoor adventure summer camp for Jewish teens. We help our campers develop self-confidence, independence, and a sense of adventure while building a strong community focused on environmentalism and the joy of Jewish life. During the 18-day trek, campers work in small groups alongside highly trained staff members to experience both the thrill and the quiet — the whitewater and the campfire — in some of the most awe-inspiring places in the country.

Summer 2010 includes two exciting itineraries. The Blue Ridge Mountains trek highlights include a rafting overnight on the world-class Chattooga River, rock climbing, and the longest zipline in the south! The Utah trek includes hikes in three stunning national parks, a three-day rafting trip on the Colorado River, and a sunset Hummer tour.

If you’ve never been to a Jewish overnight camp, you could be eligible for a grant of $ 1,000. Refer-a-friend discounts and need-based scholarships also available.

History

Established in 2008.

Adamah Adventures was founded in 2008 by Adam & Bobbee Griff. When Adam and Bobbee decided to apply for a grant to start a summer program, they wanted to combine three of their greatest passions: working with teens, traveling around the country’s most beautiful places, and being active members of the Jewish community. In combining those passions, Adamah Adventures was born.

Adamah Adventures is a member of the Foundation for Jewish Camp Specialty Camps Incubator, with funding from the Jim Joseph Foundation.

We have an ambitious goal that within five years, we will be serving hundreds of Jewish teens each summer. Our campers will travel to destinations from coast to coast, and participate in adventures climbing mountains, rafting rivers, kayaking along the ocean shore, all while building a strong and vibrant community that is rooted in our three thousand year-old Jewish values and traditions.

Meet the Business Owner

Adam and Bobbee G.

Business Owner

From Cleveland to Denver, Boulder to Atlanta, Adam has worked to engage and inspire Jewish teens across the county. For many years he was part of the Shwayder Camp family — rising from counselor and song leader to the full-time position of Assistant Director. In addition to his camp experience, Adam has worked as a retreat director, youth advisor, and song leader for synagogues and community organizations across the U.S.

Bobbee originally wanted to work in a children’s hospital and never planned on having a career working with Jewish teens. However, after spending four years as the youth director at Temple Sinai in Denver, she realized that she had a true enthusiasm for this kind of work. In 2006, Bobbee was tapped to lead and direct TIYUL, a new outdoor adventure program piloted by Shwayder Camp. When designing the program for Adamah Adventures, Bobbee was able to draw on this experience as well as her master’s degree in child and family development from the University of Georgia.
