Specialties
Homespun, from-scratch, breakfast and lunch restaurant, featuring multiple soups daily; also providing specialty catering services for private parties and businesses.
History
Established in 2014.
Soup on the Fly started as a specialty soup-delivery and executive-catering service, offering delivery of classic soups made with bone-broth stocks and gourmet lunches to select office locations.
When it came time to find a new commercial kitchen in which to prepare and store our food, we found a space with 20 seats, a full kitchen, and ample storage space on the historic uptown common in Athol, Massachusetts. The locals stopping by as we cleaned and prepared for inspection quickly convinced us that we should also open as a café, with a menu of house-made, simple dishes.
After 39 years as a chef, Rob is serving food he likes to eat in a colorful yet relaxing space where he would like to linger. The result is Soup on the Fly, offering fresh-ground organic coffee, carefully-cooked egg dishes for breakfast, and hearty, flavorful, from-scratch soups and sandwiches for lunch. We’re also getting famous for Rob’s house-made potato croquettes, served with all menu sandwiches.
