I had an early flight out, so I booked online with Sunnyside fot a 4AM pickup. No car showed up, so after 15 minutes I called dispatch, who told me the car was 4 minutes away. Waited another ten minutes, no car, called again. Was told it would be another three.
I asked why no one was here at 4AM when I made a reservation. They said if you reserve online you have to call, since their system loses reservations sometimes. The site didn’t say that at all…
Eventually my car showed up (30 minutes after my reservstion time) and we left. The ride was ok (though we almost got into an accident, but I think that is just NYC driving in general). Got to the airport and was told by the driver he doesn’t take cards, after I told the dispatcher I was paying with a card. Had to call the company again.
All in all, I wont use them again. Drive was fine, but the logistics were a pain. Glad I wasn’t in a rush!

I’ve been a loyal customer of Sunnyside Car Service for almost two years now. I keep them on my speed dial and they’ve always been amazingly on time for the trips I need to take to the airport. However, the past few times I’ve used them I’ve experienced terrible service from the dispatcher. Either I’m being told that I’m calling too early to make a reservation (I called within 48 hours and they told me to call in 24 hours) or I’m being told they have no idea if someone will be available on holidays. Normally, I wouldn’t expect any service to be open on holidays, but the Sunnyside website clearly says 365 days a year.
I’m terribly sad to have to look for a new car service, but enough is enough.

I have been a customer for 5 years. I was very happy with them till this morning. Also I noticed, they are always changing the fare rate for my regular destination. So I always ask how much. Today the dispatcher told me he will add $ 2 everytime I will ask. I think it’s time to look for another car service.

i can’t believe I’m writing a positive review but I feel like I should after today’s service. So I read this Unilocal page and was on the fence about calling Sunnyside. But they said management had changed so I was willing to give it a try. I asked for a car in 30 minutes to move some boxes from Queens to BK. The guy arrived in 20 minutes, no BS, I loaded the boxes in, he engaged in small talk, no drama on the drive. So maybe management can change the quality, did I get a freakishly good driver, were the stars aligned? I have no idea but I would DEFINITELY use Sunnyside again after today. Thank you NYC Taxi Gods!

They said a car would pick me up in 8 minutes. I waited 30 minutes then canceled the ride and called UBER who came in 4 minutes. The driver finally came at the same time UBER arrived. I told him I had canceled the ride and was stepping into my UBER and he unprofessionally complained that I wasn’t being unfair to him. I would definitely not use this service.

Hit or miss. Sometimes fast, sometimes cheap. The prices aren’t consistent. If calling from a bar, your driver is likely going to try to take advantage of your level of intoxication (regardless of how drunk he thinks you are), and jack you on the price.
You get what you pay for with this one.

My trusty Ecua Car Service was not answering for some reason, so I called them and I was impressed with quick and prompt service. The driver was very nice, and the fare from Queens to Brooklyn was very affordable. Will definitely use again.

I know sometimes we only remember to go review things when we have a terrible experience with them. So, I felt I needed to come defend Sunnyside Car Service. I’ve never once had a bad experience with them; whenever I need an early morning car to the airport, whether for me or a traveling family member, I’ve always called Sunnyside and they’ve always been reliable, and always the same price. Clean cars, and always a couple minutes early. If you aren’t waiting outside the building, they’ll give you a call to let you know they’re outside. No complains here.

Confused and kind of disgusted by this place. We called in the morning to make a reservation to be picked up from an event at 11:00 that evening. They quoted us a price (a little more than we expected but fair enough) and gave us all the information of where to meet them.
Flash forward to 11:00 in the down pouring rain and they aren’t there. We called to double check, assuming they were running late. Nope, they just decided that «no one wanted to come there.» What?!? We had already waited in the rain for 15 minutes and now they were just CHOOSING NOT TO COME. I couldn’t tell you more about it because the guy at Sunnyside promptly HUNG UP on us!
There are absolutely no words for a «business» that operates the way they do. I wish I was exaggerating but unfortunately, these are the facts that have fully convinced me to never use them again (and to tell everyone I know not to either).

As I woke up this morning, I had two thoughts. First, I thought how delicious my leftover chix parm tastes and second, how awful my experience with this company was last night. My friend and I had tickets to the Farmborough music festival on Randall’s Island. The forecast called for monsoon-​like weather, so we thought ahead and called for what we thought was a reservation for a car service to pick us up at 11pm. The dispatcher very kindly took our reservation and confirmed pickup at the desired time.
‘No worries, we will see you at 11.‘
Well, Mother Nature kept her end of the bargain, which is more than I can say for this service. I called ahead to ensure the car would be waiting for us. To our shock and dismay, we were told that none of the drivers felt like going to Randalls Island and therefore the reservation was cancelled. Immediately, I felt a wave of anger, frustration and disappointment. How can a company who takes a reservation simply cancel it without warning or notice? And in the pouring rain no less? Just when we needed a ride the most.
I truly hope people are on notice of this cautionary tale and take appropriate action to punish this company for its absolutely unprofessional and unacceptable behavior.

Today i called for the quote and they offered me price for $ 28. Before making reservation doublechecked the pric again. Driver didnt help me with luggage was sitting in the car didnt call. Was busy eating an apple. I came outdide to look for the car. He doesnt know the road and asked me for directions i opened the gmaps. Then after drop off he asked for $ 45. I said the directions right correct. These people just making money using the situation dont use them. BAD service.
Dont go with them. Drivers dont know english at all.

I just used this car service to get to a remote part of Forest Hills and the service was fast and quick. I called and got dispatch and they had a car there in 8 minutes. The driver was awesome, we bantered about NYC traffic, the new 25 mph speed limit and how it’s an attempt to shake down drivers, and how there could be so much traffic on Queens Blvd on a Wednesday. The car was well maintained and the seats were great. Even the seat belt was smooth. The driver was a smooth driver too, he actually knows how to drive in NYC those types are rare.

Reasonably priced ride to JFK (though when I confirmed with the driver what the rate would be he quoted me $ 5 more than I was told on the phone, which he attributed to bad information given by the dispatcher — Still an OK deal, I thought, and wasn’t going to haggle). The driver was nice and a couple minutes early to pick me up, car was comfortable and clean. Will definitely use again.

I would give Sunnyside Car Service a higher rating were it not for their online reservation system. I just moved to Woodside recently, and this was my first time using SCS to get to LaGuardia to catch a flight. I reserved a car online two nights before my scheduled departure rather than calling. I received no confirmation email or call to know my reservation had been received, which made me nervous. After waiting for over fifteen minutes on the day of my departure past the time I had reserved and no car arriving, I called and explained my situation. The girl on the phone took down my information, apologized, and immediately sent a car, which arrived in just five minutes. The driver was friendly, quick, and charged me just $ 18 from my apartment to my airport terminal, and the car was immaculately clean.
Moral of the story: I will use Sunnyside Car Service again, but ONLY CALL to make my reservation from now on.

I’ve used Sunnyside Car Service twice now and both time were excellent. I called the day before (less than 24 hours, shame on me) and they didn’t seem to have a problem with that. Both were extremely early in the morning, but they were both right on time. I got charged the same price twice from Sunnyside to LGA ($ 28, none of the bait and switch problems that others have had). I should note they only take cash and don’t make change, so bring what you need!
Car services are more expensive than taxis but between this service and another company I’ve generally found them to be better drivers and far more honest overall — it really depends on the driver you get. I’m using these guys again tomorrow, so wish me luck!
*Update: I’ve used the car service maybe 5 or 6 times now. All experiences were great until the last one. The driver kept me waiting a long time and kept pushing back his estimated arrival time. The company was apathetic when I called to get kept. I finally had to hail a green cab (20 minutes later) and would have missed my flight if it hadn’t been delayed. Turns out the driver never came.
In the future I don’t think I can rely on these guys for a flight. Mostly I’ve had good experiences but its still dangerously hit or miss — I’ll let Unilocal users decide for themselves. I’ll probably switch over to Über.
