Statcare Urgent & Walk-in Medical Care

got an update telling me to contact the doctor directly… because telling her in person while extremely ill didn’t to the trick. This place is gross morally. I made my partner go to an ER in lieu of this place f which is a much shorter distance and it was just for allergies.

I got a nice and friendly attention since I crossed the door. Definitely I’ll come back to this place again if I need to.

The staff here are always polite, kind, and accommodating. MY wife and I discovered this location when we moved to Astoria, we’ve since moved to a new neighborhood but we still come back to this location for any medical needs because we can be sure that our concerns are addressed to and that we’ll walk away knowing that we were taken care of!

I went in because I had a deep laceration my finger due to a climbing accident. Upon arrival I surrendered my corporate insurance card and was required to complete and new patient information sheet. I was seen in about 15 mins. The nurse was helpful and courteous. The exam room was very clean. The doctor was empathetic, knowledgeable, and efficient. My wound was thoroughly and patiently cleaned. I received stitches and antibiotics via prescription. I returned 2 times prior to stitches removal for a wound closure and infection exam. The stitches were removed in about 2 weeks. All my visits were identical, minimal wait, great doctors, super clean facilities, and no infections occurred in the wound. Best of all I had no out of pocket expense due to my insurance. I highly recommend this facility for urgent care. I will consider them first next time I need care.

I went in because I woke with a severe cough. Considering I’m a teacher, and newly pregnant at the time, I thought it’d make sense to get checked out. I was looked over and told to just rest.
The NEXT day i felt I was near death, took my temp and it was 101. I go BACK a second day. I explain I now have a fever. I am told «oh yes, you had one yesterday too. It actually got better.» WTF? Why wasn’t I told this yesterday?
Anywho, I ask what to do now with the different doctor and she too explains to rest and does nothing.
So, I leave and go somewhere else immediately. As soon as I walk in they tested me for flu and BAM. I had it.
I was told that fevers are dangerous for unborn children and they just let me walk out and in and took no measures to rectify my situation? I mean they did t even test me for flu.
Done, done and done. I’m grossed out.

Nothing urgent about this place. This facility is probably best for physicals required for work or immigration purposes.
When you arrive no one actually asks you why you’re there and the wait revolves around being called up to the reception desk multiple times. Sometimes to just stand there and watch the receptionist enter things into the computer.
I spend an hour and a half for a routine chest xray. I went there because they have an xray machine but the PA didn’t know their technician was in so she wanted to send me elsewhere. Room walls are paper thin, you can hear every patients’ conversation. I was supposed to be called the next day with results (or at least for them to tell me they came back). Three days later I called them, reception says that yes they do have my results and if I needed them… ummm yes???
The absolute best part is when I walked in and found one of the «desk ladies» literally screaming at a coworker sitting next to her. Oh, she didn’t immediately stop on account of my enterance either. Not only that there was a client standing there in front of their desk. So unprofessional! Would not recommend this place for urgent care at all. Sloppy office etiquette from pretty much everyone.

I have gone here a few times with my daughters. Never had a problem until today. I had gone on Monday for a regular work related physical. So I had to go back today for the Dr. To check the TB results which literally takes less than a minute. I made an 8:00 am appointment. I received a phone call yesterday confirming my appointment. I was standing in Front of the place with the Dr. At 7:50. After 2 other staff members arrived they open the doors at 8:00. I was the first person to see the Dr. At 8:45. Yes 45 minutes later and she blames Parking. She left the building from the side door to go find parking. If parking is so bad take the train, bus or cab! Absolutely ridiculous! I feel bad for the staff who then has to deal with the angry patients because of something so avoidable! If your going to give a half ass apology then don’t bother. It just makes people more angry!

I live nearby and had an okay experience here before (except I was horrified to learn that the rooms have thin walls — I heard everything in the room next door while I was waiting to see a doctor).
After falling during a run on a Saturday afternoon, I’d cut my arm badly and knew I needed stitches. I came by half an hour before they closed and the receptionist shrugged and told me they were done seeing patients for the day.
I went to City MD on Steinway instead, where they took care of me even though they had the same hours as this place. You can guess where I’ll be going from now on.

I wasn’t sure if I had a bad cold or if I was collapsing onto myself like a dying star. Considering that the flu and all kinds of things were running rampant at work, I figured it wouldn’t hurt to get it checked out. I went to Statcare shortly after they opened at 10:15 AM and it seemed to be a relatively quiet time. I saw a notice that they were planning for new operating hours at 8AM, which is pretty great. Upon arrival, the receptionist was warm, friendly, and efficient.
The scribe, PA, nurses, etc. were all professional and personable. The team answered all questions. The tests were both quick and thorough. The prescription was sent to my preferred pharmacy a few blocks away and it was ready for pick-​up in 15 minutes. I only waited about 6 – 8 minutes after checking in, and beyond that wait times were truly minimal (for some of my other appointments, I always plan for 30 – 40 minutes).
I personally avoid going to the doctor at all costs (because plz halp no), but the whole process was five stars. They’re even open until 8:00 PM, for those who have jobs that usually fall within normal hours of operation.
Thanks, Statcare! I wanted to find the closest Urgent Care to me and stumbled upon a medical gem.

Smooth process doing my Green Card exam. They were very transparent about extra pricing based on the updates I needed to my immunization shots, and didn’t push me into getting them done there, since my health insurance would cover those costs elsewhere. They also fill out the immigration paperwork for you, which is convenient. Only complaint is that the civil surgeon is only available Thursdays from 10am-​2pm, which is not very convenient for those of us with day jobs, but fortunately my work is flexible enough I could come in late without having to take half the day off.

Friendly & helpful staff, clean & welcoming atmosphere & little wait time. I works definitely recommend & return.

My PCP’s receptionist told me to go here when I called sick as a dog because they were overbooked. At first I was pissed, what else is a PCP for?, but I’m so glad because this was a great experience, one of my best doctor experiences in NYC, which has mostly been awful. It was clean, with minimal wait (this was a Tuesday afternoon) and the staff was very polite and courteous, far more than in most practices in this city. The care was thorough and efficient. I’d like to keep coming to them as a regular thing as opposed to my PCP, if my insurance allows. Totally great.

Very convenient. I went in to remove wax from my ear. The whole process took around 15 minutes and cost $ 75. The doctor was very professional and caring. Highly recommend this place for quick walk in medical needs.

My cousin who has no insurance and needed stitches after he cut his elbow. First they make you pay $ 110 up front, then they hit him for another$ 350 for 3−5cm cut and $ 65 for a tetanus shot and $ 50 for follow up.
Though the doctor did an excellent job stitching him, but it cost too much. He needs to get insurance!!!

I went to StatCare after being attacked and bitten badly by a large dog. The wound was on my hand, and while it was serious, it wasn’t life threatening at that point, so I calmly waited for about 45 minutes to be seen (this was a Saturday morning, so there were likely more people being treated than usual). The doctor was an Eastern European or Russian woman, and while she was perfectly nice, she seemed immediately perplexed by my wound and this did not instill confidence in me. She vaguely cleaned it and wrapped the hole on the side of my hand, then put bandage glue in the hole that went almost all the way through the base of my pinky, from the inside. She told me I needed a tetanus shot but that my insurance didn’t cover it at her facility, so I would need to go to my own doctor regardless. I left and called my primary care physician, and got an appointment immediately.
Had I realized it would be so easy to see her on a Saturday, I would have started there, and I wish I had, because the StatCare doctor’s poor judgment was very likely the cause of a nightmare that started that evening and lasted for months. More on that in a bit. My doctor removed the bandage that had just been put on (poorly) and washed my hand thoroughly with a strong antibacterial soap and then doused it with Betadine. She tried to remove the glue but couldn’t since it is meant to stay in place and is a lot like super glue. This was the biggest problem because closing such a deep wound, especially one created by an animal (since their mouths tend to be laden with bacteria that should NOT be in the bloodstream), was a very bad idea. It needed to drain. She opened it as much as possible, which was excruciating. She gave me my tetanus shot and told me that the StatCare doctor’s choice to not give it to me immediately was highly irresponsible, regardless of insurance coverage. She also gave me a prescription for some serious antibiotics, then sent me on my way.
I’ve been bitten before (I work with dogs) and while this was the worst wound I’d ever sustained, I feel the complications that followed were worsened substantially by my visit to StatCare. I developed a horrible infection that night that caused me to have a 104 degree fever, and I was dizzy and seeing double. I almost called an ambulance and probably should have, since my symptoms pointed to septicemia (blood infection). I made it through to morning ok, but then my hand and arm filled with so much puss (up to my elbow!) that my doctor had to palpate my tissue and drain the wounds more than 15 times over the next several weeks. This caused such intense pain that I was in tears each time. We had to try three different antibiotics before the infection finally began to subside. And because ridding my body of bacteria and getting the wounds to heal took so long, my tissue was swollen and my hand was immobile for over a month, giving scar tissue tons of time to build around my joints and permanently deform my hand. By the time I made it to a physical therapist, it was too late. My finger is frozen at a pretty severe angle, and I will need surgery to change that.
Granted, dog bites can be treacherous… the deeper the wound and the dirtier the dog’s teeth, the tougher the healing process. But the StatCare doctor made undeniably poor choices (I mean, bandage glue packages even say «DO NOT apply to wounds caused by animal bites»), and I’m certain they made my road to recovery MUCH bumpier. I would not trust this place with a migraine.

Such a nice place. Staff is super friendly. Very helpful for immigration medical check.

PROS:
— one of the cheapest places in the city to get an immigration medical exam
— got the job done quickly (2 – 3 days as I recall)
— most of the staff were friendly and nice
CONS:
— a medical assistant stabbed my arm several times searching for the vein, and eventually had to go ask a colleague for help (really awesome experience)
— misinformed me about the pricing when I came in, and asked me to do an additional test for $ 50
— made a mistake on my immigration exam form, and when I inquired over the phone whether this might be a problem, told me to come back to get it fixed, and when I did, were acting über rude as if I was inconveniencing them and not the other way around
SUMMARY: Cheap and quick, but don’t recommend unless you’re into physical pain and rude treatment.

This place runs smooth as butter. Came in with a sore throat. Registered as a patient and was quickly called in after minimal paperwork.
The processes started with them running my vitals and doing a strep culture. Everyone was so nice throughout the whole process. Immediately after that they place you in a room and someone quickly comes in shortly after to finish the exam. I was assisted by Carrie who was such a pleasure.
The staff was incredibly friendly. Not that I want to go to the doctor any time soon but the next time I am feeling under the weather I’ll be coming back here in a heartbeat!

Please do not go to this place. By far the most unorganized clinic I’ve ever been to. On two separate occasions, I was taken from the waiting room into a small private room to wait for the doctor and I waited approximately 45 mins each time before a doctor showed up to the room.
Their website is also deceiving. It doesn’t tell you that the immigration doctor is only there on Thursdays. I showed up on a Friday and took the TB test thinking I would get all my paperwork processed after 2 days (which is when I had to come back in to get my skin checked for my TB test results) but that was not the case. To cut the story short, I came in on Sunday for my test results and had to to wait until the following Thursday in order to have the Civil surgeon sign off on my paperwork. Save yourself the money and trouble and go elsewhere. The waiting room is crowded, there’s only one doctor running back and forth and rushing patients and the wait is unbearable. I must also say Jamila at the receptionist desk was very helpful.
