Alexia & Ashlee are terrific. I had to move in a rush and scrambled to find a new dog walker. Alexia was very responsive; she came over to meet Sensi, my Black Lab/​Border Collie/​Shepherd mix, that night and began walking her the very next day. She planned to have Ashlee, who was on vacation, as her full-​time walker and had Ashlee come meet me as soon as she returned. Sensi does not like to be left alone and needs to be coaxed and cajoled to leave the house. Ashlee is very patient and works hard to get Sensi to walk. She was accommodating about putting ointment in Sensi’s eye when when she had an infection. She always fills up her water bowl and they leave extensive notes detailing her walk and her behavior. I trust them completely and am grateful that Sensi is in such caring hands when I am at work.

Alexia and Carolina are wonderful! Very reliable and so great with my dog (and my dog isn’t the easiest to deal with…). Alexia is also so wonderful and very knowledgable about raising dogs. As a first time dog owner, I really appreciated her advice. I would highly recommend.

I was very excited to try out Alexia after reading all these positive reviews. I sent an email via her website and waited a week without a response. I called her number. The first time, it seemed to pick up and then hang up. I figure I’ll call again and leave a voicemail. That was Monday. It’s now Friday and she hasn’t called back.
If she’s not available, that’s fine, but to not have any response over nearly 2 weeks and 3 contact attempts is incredibly unprofessional.

Alexia the owner is professional and reliable. She does an excellent job of picking great walkers as well. My walker Celia leaves me detailed notes after every walk, easily handles walking my two dogs and my chihuahua loves her. Highly recommended!

I have two cats, and one of them is ex-​feral, and so he has some unusual peeing habits (he prefers to do his peeing on puppy pee pads!) This same cat also has some intestinal issues, and so he needs to have a different canned food from my other cat. Both cats also eat very quickly, and so their feedings have to be ‘paced’, with three portions given to them a few minutes apart. So my point is, my cat care requires a bit of regimen.
After losing my prior cat sitter (whom I’d had for years and was the best!), I looked around on Unilocal and decided to go with NYC Pet Nanny, and after an in-​person meeting with Alexia at my home. She is very personable, and what I liked was that as I was talking her through the routine for my cats, at one point she seemed almost ‘frustrated’ with the detail I was giving her, and she then asked me more questions… so in other words, I got the strong sense that she wanted to be sure she was getting everything right. (Some other cat sitters might have just ‘yes’d’ me to death, and ignored all the detail I was giving them as ‘overkill’. But I got the sense that Alexia really wanted to abide by any detail that I might give her.)
During my week’s holiday, she would text me now and then to let me know that my cats were doing well. I was happy to hear from her and know that she was keeping me updated on things, while at the same time her communication was not overkill. (It so happens I’m not a fan of pet sitters sending daily messages of ‘I fed your cat, changed his litter, played with him’, etc. I don’t need such messages, as to me that should all be understood. ;-) …and like most people, I have a hard enough time managing all the other texts/​emails I receive each day…
I also asked Alexia if she could water my balcony plants while I was away (for an extra fee of course). She said she could do so, as long as I left her detailed instructions (which I did). And while Alexia admitted to not having a green thumb, I came home to find all my plants in great shape, which again signified that Alexia indeed follows whatever direction you give to her.
I was actually more concerned about all my balcony plants (which are like my ‘babies’) than I was about my cats, but Alexia came through for me!
I will surely use her services again!

Rhiannon is amazing and Gus loves her so much! She helped recently when he got sick in his crate and always goes above and beyond. We are so grateful and really appreciate all she and of course Alexia do for Gus!

Toby, my dog, is in love with his dog walker Carolina from NYC Pet Nanny. He sees her and I’m forgotten. She took great care of him while he had a back injury and made sure he got the love he needed while I was at work. Not only is NYC 100% reliable, it’s simply the best. They are flexible, accomodating, helpful and have great tips. Every now and then I have a foster dog and Carolina makes sure to accompany special requests. I’m using NYC Pet Nanny since I moved to Astoria a couple years back and I am recommending them to friends and neighbors.

Alexia is the best! We’ve been using her since we moved to Astoria over 2 years ago — she has always helped out even last minute and referring us to fellow sitters when she herself could not accommodate. She’s been great with all of our foster kitties and understanding of their various situations and set ups, helpful is taking and post pics too! She’s reliable and easy to communicate with via email or text. Very responsive and prompt. If we ever got a dog would use her company for sure ! She will send updates and photos to ease any concerns.
She saved the day when one of our bathrooms sprung a bad leak!- what a life saver we could have come home to a flood and she was able to wait for our landlord to come fix it.

Alexia is awesome. We’ve used her services for the last two years and couldn’t be happier. We’d come home to find a bag of cat treats occasionally and she was always nice enough to provide status updates on our two cats. Very easy to contact and never hesitated to help out last minute. We will be hard pressed to find someone as caring and professional as Alexia in our new town.

Alexia has been our go-​to pet sitter for our 4 cats for over a year now. We just moved from Astoria to another neighborhood and are so sad to no longer be in her area. I can’t say enough good things about her. I don’t like leaving the cats when we’re away, but I’ve always felt confident knowing they’re in her hands when we’re out of town. She is very responsive and flexible and is great about sending updates and photos via text.

Alexia has been walking my dog for the past few months and I couldn’t be happier. She is professional, reliable, responsible and has been great with my dog who is a puppy mill rescue and has anxiety issues. My dog, Penelope, loves her! I’m lucky to have found her. They even leave you a note after each visit with a status update which is much appreciated.

Alexia has watched my cat just about every time I’ve gone out of town for the past couple years. Unfortunately for me and kitty, she is now concentrating only on the Astoria neighborhood (no more Sunnyside!), so we have to find a replacement. The new petsitter will have big shoes to fill. My cat is extremely skittish around strangers and new people, but it didn’t take her very long to get comfortable around Alexia. As months went by, my cat came out of her shell enough to play with Alexia and eventually let Alexia pet her – very rare for anyone who is not me or my husband. Alexia was also great about getting our mail for us. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a great petsitter in Astoria!

All of the other reviews are correct– Alexia and her team are the best dog walkers I could ever ask for! She’s so reliable, accommodating, and professional. Alexia has been walking our little Jack Russel, Charlie, for over a month and I have never seen him so happy– he really loves her so much!
As we had never had a dog walker before, my boyfriend and I were a little hesitant at first; but now we couldn’t be more at easy. We know that he is in the best hands when he is with Alexia.

I’ve used Alexia and her team twice to watch my blind cat while I was out of town. I like that she came over for an initial consultation to meet my cat and she took notes down about his food and blindness. She also offered to text me updates on how my cat was doing. As a laid back pet owner, I didn’t need the text updates, but I’m sure many pet owners would love this little perk of working with Alexia. I’d recommend Alexia to anyone and will use her again and again.

Best dog walkers in Astoria! Alexia and her team are awesome. They’re reliable, accommodating, and very easy to reach if you ever have to change your schedule or need anything. Amanda, who walked my little corgi, wrote in a notebook daily to let me know how the walk went, and even gave belly rubs and treats! They really do take good care of your dogs, and will make sure they’re happy and healthy. Truly your neighborhood dog walkers – not some big company. Reasonable prices, trustworthy, caring people… Can’t recommend them enough! Unfortunately, I moved out of Astoria and I wish I could take them with me!

Alexia is wonderful! We recently adopted a kitty who has had a few accidents in the past, so we were very apprehensive to leave him in just anyone’s hands. Upon some research, we came across Alexia and I am so glad we did!
We just got back from vacation and not only was Parker accident-​free, but Alexia quickly responded when I checked in to see how he was doing. During our consultation, she was very assuring and professional. It was such a relief to know he was well taken care of.
