I bought a Groupon supposedly worth $ 240 for highlights and a cut. Turns out, highlights and a cut is only $ 90 there, so I saved $ 20. I called to make an appointment and the owner called me back. I guess the number is his cellphone. It seemed sketchy, but I already paid for the Groupon. I made an appointment for Friday at 3:30 p.m. Cut to Friday. The hairdresser isn’t there. They called her for me and she said she was at their other location and the owner never told her she has an appointment. I return Saturday. She was late. They had to call her to see where she was. She didn’t seem to know what she was doing. She didn’t understand the photos I showed her. She was painting my highlights really strangely. It just didn’t look right. At one point, she got a phone call, grabbed her purse and walked out. She constantly had her earbuds in (for her phone) and stunk of cigarettes. Then, as she rinsed my hair… and then kept putting more and more stuff on it, I realized she screwed up. I could tell she was panicking. Then, I saw it. Hot roots. Blonde roots on a brunette. Pamela kept adding more and more toners and colors and combing them through. Five hours. Five hours for brittle hair and a burned scalp (it still hurts hours later). She didn’t cut my hair AT ALL the way I wanted it, but at that point I was afraid to have her do anymore. I needed out of that chair and I needed her away form my head. Plus, it was almost 8 p.m. and I was going to be late for a surprise birthday party. (Again, my appointment was 3:30 p.m. and I got there early). She initially offered to have me come back next week so she could fix it… if I paid for a $ 30 blow dry. She then offered to have me come back and fix it for free. I won’t be going back. She has zero idea what she is doing. ZERO. It was honestly like she never did highlights before and just played with the paint brush. I didn’t want to pay Manhattan prices and this is what I get for skimping. My hair is ruined. I’m afraid it’s going to break. I’m still in shock. I’ll be living with oils on my hair until I’m sure it won’t break off and then I’ll go somewhere and have it fixed… at least get a nice cut. What a mess.
