The best local pub bar in all of Astoria!! The greatest variety of beer on tap including Shiner bock and purple haze which is an aberration in Manhattan! The food menu has a great selection of bar snacks including chips and salsa and amazing wings! Rich is a phenomenal bartender and makes sure to take great care of all his guests and the best multi tasker! Chris is the manager of Mccann’s pub & grill and is absolutely amazing! I come here as often as I can because I always have such a great time whenever I’m here!

Awesome neighborhood bar. Great prices, great specials going on during the week and friendly staff. Can get super busy so if you want to sit down and eat it might take a little bit for a table to clear up if you don’t get there early.

Great vibe in this bar! came here unexpectedly with a group of 5 people. The waiters and waitresses were super kind and attentive. they were fun too.
the music box they have is cool, you put a couple bucks in and you can pick any of the latest music to play in the whole bar. we had people dancing to future it was funny
Drinks are nice and strong, not too expensive. thumbs up !

Have lived in the hood for a few years and have always liked McCanns. Food is usually terrific. Their McCanns burger is awesome with the gouda cheese. Service is usually very friendly. I do take out a lot. Can get real packed at times which sucks cuz it’s small but I don’t really go on prime time nights anymore. Only wish they delivered.

Been here a bunch of times, the staff is really friendly and accommodating. Great place to watch football and hang out with friends. Management goes out of the way to make sure your happy. Recommend it for anyone who’s looking to have a good time !

The only reason I gave this place 2 stars is because their wings are ok. But management is very unprofessional. Me and my coworkers went on our lunch break. And everything was good, until we walked out the door. We were stopped and accused of using a fake $ 100 bill. The guy, who I assume is the manager, made this call by looking at the bill. Very embarrassing. I won’t show my face around there ever again. After work, we took the $ 100 bill to the bank. And the bill is real. There are more bars to go to with better parking anyways.

I grew up going to Mccann’s, it was like our neighborhood «cheers» bar. The food use to be so good, especially the Buffalo Bites. We use to eat them about 5 times a week or more. we stopped going for a long long time now because the food changed bug time, it started to suck… so today after not having it for almost 3 yrs I ordered the Buffalo Bites thinking, let me give it another try maybe things have changed. …they were definitely much better I’ll day that much but the portion size was beyond an embarrassment and for the price. …will definitely not return. I got an order to go, was close to 12 bucks and the picture is attached here to this review. Very disappointed!

Always the best service. Whether it is crowded during the weekend or a mellow weekday, it’s always fun to stop by McCanns.
It looks like they revamped their food menu. No more buffalo shrimp (womp, womp. It was one of my fave from their menu). But, a few good add ons as well. New wings which I’m told are great. And a new crisoy eggplant sandwich. Sooo good.
The sandwich is served sauteed with cheese, fried onions and fries on a bun with a tarter type sauce and waffle fries. So good! If you are looking for a non-​meat alternative, I’d definitely ordered this.
Beers are also great per the usual and awesome servers.

I have never come in here as a first stop — nor come to Ditmars just to come here.
I always enjoy the food here. I like the boneless chicken bites — they’re a great late night snack which is perfect because their kitchen is open LATE!
Good beer selection with decent prices. Not great, but I’ve seen much worse. At least you have a large enough selection if your first choice seems too expensive.
Service is mostly pretty good!
I like coming here — and am eager to come back!

Definition of An Awesome Local Bar.
Came here with a bunch of buddies for a celebration. All we had are beers and wings. Loads of wings. The Monday Dozen Wings for $ 5. We had like ten trays and each flavor of sauce was very good, from mild to super hot (on the real hot). Might I add the wings were crisp even when drowned in the sauce. And being a light health advocate, the celery on the side were good too!
Yeah, anyway, a busy and averagely loud bar with stools facing the bartenders to watch sports. Nothing fancy about the décor: dark, wood fixtures like in a elk lodge but not too dark to not see anything, perfectly dim but can see your buddy, your food and what you’re doing. Enough going to not get bored. There’s side seats with tables and shooting billiards/​pool table (s) in the back. I’m not sure but did I notice a juke box? Maybe…

This was a great chill place to have a drink and get your grub on. I had the Caesar salad with steak and OMG it was to die for. My boyfriend had the steak tidbits and I was like I «I totally need to get that next time «. It’s a comfortable place overall with a pool table and a dart board. The vibe is awesome with cool chill music. Definitely going back !

McCann’s is an okay place to throw back a pint or two with friends. My husband and I have been coming here for years and unfortunately the quality has gone down a bit. If I had done a review a good six years ago, I would have given this place 4 stars. But the food quality has gone down since then and they stopped their buy-​back coins, so it’s dropped a star for me. Nothing bad about this place, it’s just very average overall. The beer selection is pretty good though.

Mccanns is magic.
It was Friday night and my girlfriend went on vacation the night before. I was riding seventh wheel with some friends, three couples, one lonesome dude. It was game four of the Stanley cup championship, Rangers vs Tampa lightning. On the way into Mccanns we passed this bakery that was going off. The girls eyes lit up.
We got into Mccanns and sheepishly made our way through the bar into the back. What were men doing bringing women into the back of a sports bar during the playoffs one may ask? Exactly.
The back room at Mccanns has exactly two pool tables and six televisions blaring a mixture of hockey, baseball and basketball.
The girls looked up and said, «we are going next door.»
Boomshakalaka, we went to the strip club.
Four stars because they take your id if you want to play pool, at two dollars a pop no less.

My cocktail was not balanced at all, there is only one cider (Magner’s, what a surprise), and the credit card minimum is $ 15. This is near my house, so I will probably find myself there regularly, but I’ll keep looking elsewhere for an enjoyable experience.
That being said, if you’re looking for a man cave with beer, wings, and sports, this may be your paradise. To each their own.

I really appreciate that McCann’s is so consistent with their prices, food, and staff. I’ll occasionally come here for wings and a beer on mondays.
If this pub was on another planet that didn’t have pubs, it would earn 3 michelin stars for nailing such an establishment.
The sweet and spicy wings are fried (this is my cheat meal). The fried coat and tender meat is similar to stepping on fresh snow that has a thin frozen top layer. You hear the crunch when breaking through the delicious delicate skin and your teeth land softly on the bone after driving though the cushioning protein.
The sweet and spicy sauce is surprisingly mixed in house with pineapple and peppers and is more than I’d ask for; from the appearance outside.
I will be coming back.
Note: 4 stars is as high as I’d rate a pub.
