There was a small problem with my food. But first, I want to say that I’m satisfied with this place, I might start ordering from here more often. Pros –ordered 30 minutes before 1am(closing time) and still got my food –Good proportions –not too salty –fast delivery cons –really really greasy

I came to this restaurant for lunch being that I was having a conference meeting across the street. Most of my coworkers decided they were up for Chinese food so we ordered. My experience ordering over the phone was irritating. The guy taking my order literally REFUSED to answer my question if I’ll be getting a lunch special price for my food. I asked 7 times and all seven times he ignored me and kept asking other questions. And yes, he spoke perfect English, he was just rude. I agree with the other reviews about horrible customer service. The food was ok. Cheap and fulfilling. I had shrimp and broccoli with garlic sauce. The garlic sauce was too sweet in my opinion. Ehhh not my favorite place.

I feel some people really are unable to differentiate between good and bad Chinese food. As a Brooklyn Jew, I like to believe I can discern the two. That said, this is an above average Chinese spot. It’s very typical for a Chinese place though — small, messy looking, no chit-chat to-the-point staff. The food however has always been very good. I don’t ever order noodle dishes so I can’t speak on those, but the other dishes have always been delicious. Last time I ordered delivery, the food came in less than 20 minutes. The negative is they don’t do online ordering through the big services anymore. I think they have their own system, but I doubt many would opt to use it.

The food is great. The customer service thing is sorely lacking. If you can get past some rather socially inept phone manners, a good feed…

I don’t understand why all the bad reviews. Granted I haven’t eaten here in a few years. This is fast food Chinese food and not 5 star dining people! This was my favorite fast food Chinese restaurant. I grew up in Astoria and between all the other Chinese places to pick from this was always our go to. Food was prepared freshly on the spot to order. It was flavorful and the portions were generous. Like most Chinese restaurants they don’t have ac so in the summer it was always pick up and go because it’s too hot to eat there. Many times we would order pick up and take for hour long trips to Pa and even reheated 2 hrs later it was still very tasty. The staff was always friendly and with a smile when you went to order. My mom loves their hot and sour soup. I like the egg drop and sesame chicken the best. Dumplings always hit the spot and friend chicken was good sizes and extra crispy. I will try it soon to make sure quality hasn’t changed and update my review if need be.

Customer service sucks!!! Also I ordered a beef LO mein. It was so bland and the meat was rubbery, just awful. Their food has never been great for the past year I’ve been living here, but today was the worst

Decent food, fast delivery, but the guy who answers the phone is always a total jerk. Constantly rude and acts like you are bothering him. The lady who answers the phone is super nice and always gets your order right. They should just let her answer the phone. Don’t bother asking for them to make anything spicy/less spicy/special order because they simply won’t do it.

I ordered food here but they never delivered it. The best part was that they when I called they said they came to my apartment and called me but I never answered. I told them that I never received their call and they told me my phone was broken… the phone I was calling them from! They’ve been known to scam people like this. Terrible, terrible. Be careful my Astoria friends. I’m telling as many people as I can about this awful experience.

The food is not my Favorite, but it is still worth it. The service is okay, but my favorite is the wonton soup and chicken fried rice

I would definitely not recommend this place. I had the sweet and sour soup and General Tso’s chicken. The soup was pretty flavorless, actually the least flavorful I have ever had. The chicken was crispy, but this is because the chicken was super dry and the sauce lacked any real flavor. Best part was probably the white rice.

The Singapore mei fun was underwhelming, with a low spice level and less-than-fascinating components like imitation crabmeat. However, the chicken wings were a pleasant surprise, with a bolder taste and less grease than might be expected.

Hong Kong is my go to places for Chinese food after recently moving closer to Broadway(for Ditmars area, its Dragon & Pheonix!) The general tsos chicken is nice and crisp and never soggy. The crab rangoons are a must, a bit on the sweet side but they are none the less delicious. The delivery is speedy and I have never had any issues with wrong orders. I usually order online so I can not speak for any of the communication issues while ordering over the phone. I can say that anytime I have added an additional note for stuff like no onions or light sauce, it has always been followed. They are also open pretty late vs other options in the area.

One of my personal favorite places for good Chinese food. Delivery times are excellent and the food is always delicious. I would definitely recommend Hong Long to anyone who’s interested in good/quick/inexpensive meal.

I’ve been ordering from here for years. The quality has definitely changed over these years like most places. The main issue I have is the fact that I never get what I ask for. I ask for hot sauce and mustard 100% of the time. I get one but not the other. No fortune cookies anymore. The food could be a bit tastier and fresh. Otherwise go across to Fatimas Halal Chinese.

I’ve gotten takeout or delivery from this spot around a half dozen times over the past year, but I can’t in good conscience say that I’ve ever enjoyed it. It’s certainly not inedible, and there are worse places in the neighborhood for sure, but every time I’ve eaten from this place, I’ve regretted it, if not immediately then in the morning when the General Tso’s chicken is still an unmistakable lump in my stomach, slowing me down and throwing off any attempts to eat healthy for the next two days. In Hong Kong’s defense, most takeout Chinese is probably going to make you feel that way, so that can’t be held against them. Also, prices are low, delivery is quick, and they’re always good about requests like using all white meat. The worst thing about this place is that Fatima’s, right across the street, is the best Chinese food in the area. Hong Kong has better crab rangoon than Fatima’s, though, so I will most likely be back at some point, even if it’s against my better judgment.

This is my first time dining in this restaurant and will be my last. My experience here is just awful and I shall tell you all why and how… The woman tonight on the counter was really rude(not the skinny one). Good thing I was able to keep my cool a bit long enough… Without any good reason, she slammed the two water bottles on the counter when I asked and paid for them. Then few minutes later, when our orders have arrived, she slammed the tray with our orders on the counter and hand signaled me to pick them up. This is really a disgusting behavior. Had this establishment been run by an American corporation, she’d be fired right away. Anyway, I ordered General Tso’s Tofu with brown rice for $ 5.95, which was lacking great taste. There are a lot of other Chinese restaurants in Astoria and elsewhere in Queens that value good customer service and have better tasting dishes.

To be honest this is def one of the better take out Chinese spots in the area. They do decent amt of business with tons of take out. Reasonable prices, & quick service. Nothing to rave or really complain about. If you want some chinese food for 6 – 7 bucks, get it.

Decent Order-Off-the-Wall Chinese restaurant. Had Beef with Broccoli and my wife had the General Tso’s. The beef was tender, the broccoli fresh, and the sauce was pretty tasty too. The General Tso’s was passable. Not the best I’ve ever had but certainly not the worst. The staff is less than friendly, but managable since we just had to place an order at the counter. One definite plus is the price. Our two dinners and two sodas totaled to only around $ 12.00. That’s cheaper than any other fast food in the neighborhood. If you are cheap, lazy, and in the mood for some decent Chinese food, then this place will suit your purposes just fine.

I used to visit this restaurant for about a year. To be honest, their food actually taste better than other Chinese takeout restaurants in the neighborhood. Probably because they use a lot of seasonings. Most staff were very rude(except for one skinny lady), which was typical Chinese service style that I could still put up with. However, one thing stopped me from going is that I think they don’t wash their vegetables. At least they didn’t wash the vegetables for my food. One time nearly midnight, maybe they were out of scallions, so one of the chefs just grabbed a bunch of scallions from a pile of unprepared veggies in the back(the rubber band was still on it. they were just like the way you see in supermarket). He cut it and threw everything in the wok. NOWASH! Now you know why these food need heavy seasonings…

Just reviewing based on the steamed dumplings… I called for delivery and a lady picked up and put me on hold immediately. First time that happened to me and initially I took it as a good sign. If the restaurant is that busy it can’t be that bad. I had steamed and fried pork dumplings. It sucked. The taste of the actual dumpling itself was actually average but the dumpling sauce they give you is absolutely disgusting. It’s like a sweet and sour sauce mixed in with soysauce, like someone was playing a game of «will white people actually eat this» in the kitchen. If they are putting such a sugar and down-right heavy sauce on steamed dumplings I really don’t want to know what goes into their greasier stuff like lomein. Their delivery came quick though.
