History
Established in 1871.
Turkish Baklava from Istanbul to New York.
Welcome to the online American branch of Güllüoglu baklava. The story of Güllüoglu Baklava begins in Gaziantep, Turkey, located on the caravan routes connecting Mesopotamia, Egypt and Anatolia. It is one of the oldest cities in the world with its 5600 years of history. In 1871 Gullu Celebi introduces Gaziantep to a dessert he learned from a chef in Damascus. Baklava becomes an instant success and its legacy continues today, 141 years and 5 generations later. Güllüoglu’s new 7000 square meter factory in Istanbul (Kagithane), the largest baklava producing and distributing site in the world, operates under the globally recognized licenses HACCP and ISO 9001 (Quality Assurance system). Now, the traditional Turkish flavor in baklava and other goods such as Güllüoglu’s famous spinach and cheese pies, sesame breads (Simit), and other baked goods have found their way to the U.S.A. at four convenient locations in the Tri-State Area.
