Won’t be shopping here anymore… I have been shopping here for more than 16 years and lately with the daughter running customer service and front cashier I have been and seen other people receiving poor customer service and rude attitude… I support small business, but if the family wants her face to represent the business now then I will pass and take the trip to Home Depot

Totally rude and dismissive. I refuse to buy anything here, I go to DV Locksmith and Hardware 29^th St and 30^th Ave. Small business are always crying that they’re losing customers etc. etc. And I get that– be NICE to people don’t be RUDE !!! It’s simple –You don’t have a monopoly on anything. I don’t need you –you need me. If you don’t like it get out of retail ! This place sucks !!

will cheat you on the prices, they sell and do not put taxes on my other company and my grandpas company, they sell the theroacoat higher on me just cause I’m young and they think I’m dumb. Bought a theroacoat bucket, it had no sand and just wasn’t a good bucket, I asked them for a exchange. I just want another bucket, not asking for a refund .They said they can’t do anything about. Find out a hour later, my grampa always exchanges and returns the bucket if it is no good. These guys are a bunch of cheaters and lost a 15+ years customers! Btw the lady on the counter is totally useless, better if u talk to a wall. They will give u the same help. Save the money from these cheaters

A lady working at the register was so rude that as if she had no interests to help a customer with what he was looking for.

It’s a great hardware store with everything you need at a convenient location with fair prices and good advice.
I’ve purchased any number of items there over the years from the very courteous staff as well as had a variety of key copies made as I’ve moved around the nearby area (they are equipped with key blanks for every occasion including medeco blanks).
I cannot recommend them enough :)

Great neighborhood hardware store that always saves you from the run to big box stores across town. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff, combined with a very packed inventory makes this an awesome local option for projects. Prices are very close to the big box stores and with how available and knowledgable the staff is, and the cost saved in travel, it’s negligible. Thanks for being here and being a local option!

Just moved to Astoria, from BK, and spotted this store after getting off the subway. Went in and it was great. The woman upfront is knowledgable and funny (not «rude,» «funny…» welcome to New York…). The guys are also great and helped me hunt down a few screws that I needed. They are a little bit more expensive for certain things when compared to the «.99 cent stores» located on Steinway, but, generally, those stores aren’t hardware stores with knowledgable people; so who’s complaining? I’ve gone back here at least four times since we moved in three weeks ago. Five stars because what else could you ask for from a hardware store that this place doesn’t give you? Nothing, that’s what.
Little known fact bestowed upon me by my father, who is an Astoria native. This place is in the same location of a bakery that was owned by Christopher Walken’s family. I’m not sure you could convince the woman upfront to do the Weapon of Choice dance routine, but you can try.

Helpful when I needed some last-​minute items. The staff in the back was really friendly when I was looking for a mop and bucket in a hurry and carried everything to the front for me, as I had my hands full. Cashier was friendly as well. Basically a go-​to shop for any sort of home improvement needs. Really small, narrow aisles, but has everything you need and is right by the train.

Unfortunately after Walters sold his business, Broadway Hardware is the only hardware store in the vicinity. I have been there three times and all three times, I was appalled by the rude and crude manner of the cashier/​front clerk woman. Her ignorance is also outstanding. Though the guys in the back were helpful, her attitude is so bad that I’d rather travel far to accommodate my needs than spend my money in that establishment…

I work in Long Island City… There is nothing in Long Island City. I called 4 different hardware stores because I needed keys made. Strangely… All hardware stores in LIC are no longer open. Some places answered the phone only to inform me they aren’t in business… (Why do you still answer the phone?)… Anyway. This was the only place that answered AND still existed, so I trucked over. Great little hardware store. Stuffed to the gills with hardware things. My keys were cut quickly. I bought a few other things that I didn’t realize I needed (until I got there) and was on my way. I’ll definitely use them if I need a hardware store close to my job in Queens.

Friendly, helpful, great neighborhood store. Just went in to get some screws, spent about a dollar, and they took time to help me out. I will be back,

Owned by some VERY nice people they basically have everything you could want from a local hardware and paint store. They are service oriented and have a large selection of items. More than happy to support a local store anyday over the big box retailer who could care less and you have to chase down for «help».
Go and spend some $$$$$ and know these people care.

I’ve been to the store a couple of times to buy various supplies — mostly for painting, but I always pick up a few extra items while I’m there. The store is small but densely-​packed with everything one would ask of a hardware store. The prices are clearly marked and very reasonable. The store has a good feel — very laid back — and the service is both personable and knowledgeable. The owners (husband and wife) give the store a fun sorta [young] mom ‘n’ pop vibe — and I always like to support quality local businesses over big ol’ chain stores. Very good experience the two times I’ve been here — I will continue to be a repeat customer.

A little overpriced, a little cramped but still home service every time!

Needed keys made for Medco lock and mailbox. Other local were not able to make. This Mom and Pop store was able to make the keys. Young register person could do a bit of customer service as she indicated Medco key blank was not available, but key maker was able to duplicate Medco key on non-​Medco (large square blank) brand blank. Meanwhile, register clerk insisted couldn’t duplicate even when I told her I was able to get duplicate a week before. Store provide choice of different levels of quality hardware and sells premium brand Benjamin Moore paints. They also sell latest technology Multi-​T-​Lock key cylinder lock for DIYer like myself, better than standard, less secured, pin and tumbler key type lock.

I’ve been in here several times and found what I needed. I must admit that I haven’t been to many small mom and pop hardware stores so I can’t comment on prices, but what I purchased seemed quite acceptable. I always been asked if I needed help in a friendly manner and the woman behind the counter is humorous and helpful. I’d check here first for anything hardware related… and yes, this place is small and cramped, because it’s packed to the gills with stuff.

They have everything you might need packed in the small space of the store. The staff was extremely helpful and very nice, and they helped me find everything I needed. Thumbs up!

You’re going to pay a bit more here than you will at other stores. It’s part of small business life. However, you do get excellent customer service.
It’s a throwback hardware store — old, dusty, crammed to the gills with junk you need. However, it’s also old school in the way you are treated. I’ve had a 10-​minute conversation with an employee on the differences between a $ 2 picture hanging kit and a $ 4 kit. There was no rush to sale — just solid explanations on benefits of one version over the other.
Best of all, I don’t have to take the train to Home Depot. And it’s kind of nice supporting a local business.

This place is great! It serves all my home improvement needs without having to go to Home Depot (the nearest one being about 20 blocks and 2 avenues over). What’s perfect is that they carry almost anything you’d need while keeping it local as well! That said, it’s EXTREMELY cramped inside since they carry so much in such a small space.
The staff are very knowledgeable (especially the awesome woman who is mostly at the register) and know where everything in the store is, so the aforementioned clutter is navigable! They also carry benjamin moore paint and have a full swatch selection thing at the very back of the store.
