Bendi Kovats

Bendi was on time and the service couldn’t be better. He installed an over the range microwave but had to get around some issues where I know some handymen would have said they couldn’t do it (or wasn’t worth their time). And even better he finished in under an hour! I will definitely use him again and will refer him to my friends and family.

I recently called Bendi to do a small spackle job on my wall. He did a great job, very helpful and pleasant and professional. Even though the job was tiny he was able to put 100% into the work and made sure it was good to go before he left. I highly recommend him for small or large jobs. I will definitely call him again! I needed help changing out a light fixture. Normally, it would be something I could handle without needing help but I was apprehensive because of the state of my wiring and ceiling in my very old apartment. I was ready and willing to pay for his assistance but he didn’t take my money. Instead, he walked me through the steps and encouraged me. Through picture texts and conversation, I successfully installed a new kitchen light without fear of starting a fire! The fact that someone in NY didn’t just take my money or over charge me, but instead helped me, is pretty rare. It speaks to his character. If I truly have a job that takes more capable hands than my own, I’ll call Bendi again.

I found Bendi through Unilocal and can highly recommend him. I called and spoke directly with him regarding the installation of 7 window blinds. I let him know at the time that my window frames (old apartment building) were metal and difficult to drill through. We arranged a time and agreed upon fair rate, and Bendi provided an estimate as to how long it would take. He was running a bit late (15 – 20 mins) but called to let me know. He arrived and immediately got to work. We had a nice conversation as he worked. There was no stalling or BS on his part to drag out the job. He came prepared with metal screws (not part of the packaging with the blinds) which means he clearly paid attention to our initial conversation.
Bendi was quick, polite and professional and best of all finished the job in half the time he estimated. I would highly recommend Bendi and will certainly use him in the future should I have additional projects.

I’ve now used Bendi for two jobs and will surely use him again. I’d go as far as to add him to my favorites in my contacts list, when it comes to completely a task in a timely and professional manor. I first had a TV installed/​mounted and most recently had a very large AC reinstalled by Bendi. Both times he came on-​time and within a short time frame. He’s meticulous, courteous, and cheaper than hiring some corporate idiot (Geek Squad, PC Richards, etc.) giving you some bogus and overpriced estimate for a job Bendi could do with his eye’s closed. Do yourself a favor and call Bendi when you need some help with your apartment or home. You wont be disappointed.

I made an appointment with Bendi to install an air conditioner and some blinds. He never showed or called to say he couldn’t make it or to reschedule.

Bendi is awesome! He is a perfectionist, and his work reflects that. Most contractors I have hired in the past took double if not triple the time to fix things. He fixed my back door molding, he installed two lights, and painted my ceiling medallion, he fixed a light fixture in the basement that hadn’t been working for 7 years, in about 5 minutes time. He removed my old shower door and installed a new kohler shower door. He refused to do a sloppy job, even when I said it didn’t matter. I will be using him again… Without hesitation. He is fair and honest and I’m so happy that Unilocal led me to him!

Amazing work, reasonably priced. Came on one day’s notice. Spent 4 hours putting together my entire apartment (multiple pieces of furniture needed assembling, curtains put up, pictures mounted on walls, lights changed, bathroom door fixed so it actually closes). Efficient, effective, very happy with this service!

We recently undertook a bit of home redesign, and as part of that, wanted to mount or new flatscreen TV on the wall. I was surprised to see so many highly rated handy-​people on Unilocal,and started to call down the list.
Lots of folks weren’t available or told me that my TV couldn’t be mounted on the wall, even on studs. Bendi got right back to me and said he could come by that evening.
I couldn’t have been happier! He showed up right on time, and was both friendly and professional. It was nice to get a good vibe right off the bat, since you never know what will happen when you invite a stranger from Unilocal into your home (although to be fair, the last time that happened, I married her).
Anyway, Bendi was the perfect mix of efficient and thoughtful. He was clearly very handy and had hung many TVs before, but didn’t immediately discard the instructions and just assume he knew everything, as I could imagine some people would do. He asked a lot of questions to make sure we were happy with the positioning, the look, and a bunch of other things.
In about thirty minutes, he had hung the TV perfectly (and only after testing its stability many times). He then also mounted a wire run and our sound bar to make sure the whole room was perfect. His price was $ 60 an hour which felt very reasonable.
I would definitely use him again and can’t recommend him enough!

I got an AC this AM and needed someone ASAP because it was getting too hot up in herrrrrre. I’m thankful for all my trusty Unilocalers’ advice.
Bendi came quickly (literally 30 mins) and quoted me fairly for an AC ($ 60 for the day of) and even helped me on other handyman items without charge (screwing in my metal bars), even offered to screw in my curtain rods!
He is lighthearted and professional on top of his fair prices. I had to deal with some personal things and was clearly was not in a great mood but he remained professional and nice, and if anything made me feel better. I told Bendi I was very nervous about installing an AC because I live on 1^st floor, but Bendi nicely assured me that the multiple screws he used would not only keep me secure but also would enable me to keep my AC in my window year-​long.
I would definitely use Bendi again for other handyman items on my to-​do list. Search no more, this is your go-​to Astoria handyman.

I cannot speak highly enough of Bendi. As a newcomer to New York, he helped me install my window air conditioning unit and hang some shelves that were giving me a great deal of trouble. He did not try to overcharge me at all and was so friendly and wonderful to work with! I cannot recommend him enough!

Bendi helped install my TV and a few wall hooks. Overall, he is very professional, clearly experienced, and an efficient worker. He happened to be available on the same day the TV arrived, which worked out great. He and his assistant arrived on time, and brought all of the tools needed with them. In addition to installing the TV, Bendi also arranged my internet cables so they wouldn’t all be bunched up in a corner on the floor. To do this, he volunteered to move my fridge and arrange the cables behind the fridge. He happily spent an extra 20 minutes on this (at no extra charge) and it made a huge difference in the appearance of my apartment! I highly highly recommend Bendi.

Bendi has helped me with a few home improvement projects now and each time has been excellent. He has shown up on time for his appointments and has been flexible with meeting me after work. The projects he has helped me with look great, they were done quickly and efficiently and I would recommend him to anyone!
