Mile High Pipe Inspectors

This review is long overdue. It’s also long winded, but if you want the down and dirty on Mile High Pipe Inspectors, I would definitely recommend these guys over anybody else for your pipe inspection… and heres why:
11 months ago I was trying to buy a home and was informed that i should get my main sewer line scoped in addition to the normal home inspection. What did that entail? I had no idea at the time, but I was new to the area and was informed by my realtor that based on the area where the house was built and the age, homes were notorious for having invasive tree roots and pipe damage. That’s where Mile High Pipe Inspectors came into play.
I called Rich to meet with me while the home was being inspected – He was flexible and able to make it happen. Rich showed up on time with gear in hand ready to go to work. He invited me to come along to watch the show… I was thinking to myself, «Show?!, You want me to go in the crawl space with you to watch a show?» So yeah, I tagged along. Let me just say the technology Rich was using to scope the line was impressive. As he was scoping the line, we were watching the live color feed (excellent video quality) and he was educating me on the equipment and what kind of condition the main sewer line was in. Needless to say, Rich was very professional, personable, and knowledgeable about all aspects of his job. One of the main reason I didn’t buy the house was because he found MAJOR issues with this line and it would have to be replaced. Well done Rich! By the end of the day I had a DVD, and full write up of the job.
Fast forward to present day, I’ve been living in a my house for almost 10 months now, but when I was going through this inspection process I had to resort to using a different company to scope my lines because of a schedule conflict. I really wanted to use Rich’s services again because he was honest and had a VERY reasonable price for the quality of service he provided. Anyway, this company I went with knickle and dimed me on everything. They charged me for an access fee, locate fee, and they told me they had to take out the toilet (extra $ 50) to scope the main line because they couldn’t find the Clean Out (By the way, I found the clean out a few feet off the front door after I moved in). When they scoped the line, they had this black and white video screen and a camera that didn’t auto rotate based on it’s position so the place that had roots coming in wasn’t actually coming from the bottom of the line, it was coming from the top (didn’t find that out until Rich re-​scoped it today). Side note, water was not running to help these guys figure out which way was up or down. They said since the exposed area was on the bottom, the line would have to be replaced because sewage most likely was leaking into the soil. They said they would do that and also install a clean out for $ 3K. I told them I would think about it. I also did not get a DVD or write up from these guys, just an invoice.
Last week I called Rich because I knew a clean out was needed based on my recent draining issues. We talked a bit about what the other inspectors discovered 10 months ago and how I wanted him to come re-​scope to get a second opinion. He told me that sometimes you’ll get crooked guys like those trying to make some extra unnecessary $$$ repairs who are making a bad name for is profession… so he was real enthused to come out and scope. He even recommended a great clean out guy as well to clean the lines before he scoped. Rich and Alex showed up early just as the clean out was wrapping up. Again, was invited to watch the show just like before. While Alex was scoping the line, they were briefing me on the pipe condition as the camera made its way down and up the sewer line. Other than the minor invasive root areas (that were cleaned out) the line was in great condition and was told there was absolutely no reason to replace the pipes, just annual clean out maintenance. You could clearly see from the video that all of the roots were coming in from the top and water was free flowing out to the city main. Well done Rich, again. It really is a small price to pay.

Sewer colonoscopy… yuck. That said, Mile High Pipe Inspectors were up on the roof of my new house when I arrived. What sewer scope guys were doing on the roof is a good question: it was the only way to run the line – through the vent in the roof.
Let me back up r r r. I asked my home inspection company to do a sewer scope as part of the process. They brought in Mile High Pipe Inspectors, who promptly emailed me. Jana was great – thorough and professional, kinda like you’d want your proctologist to be.
In addition to providing Google drive access to the video within 24 hours, they ran the camera back and forth, identifying the type of pipe and where it changed, and what issues were present or likely in the future. They even stopped the feed and captioned visible issues for a clearer understanding. This is an invaluable service if you need to repair your line. And why else would you want to look at a sewer video?
Very reasonable price, and went above and beyond by checking out the sewer pit and pump to offer additional advice.
Not only will you have a thorough exam, but you can gross out your friends by sending them a copy. C’mon, I know you’ve always wanted to watch a video of the inside of your sewer pipes from the roof all the way to the street!
