Animal Urgent Care Of Arvada

Took my dog here late one night for fast breathing. We were warmly greeted at the door, taken immediately to a room and he was examined within 5 minutes of arriving. The clinic was clean. The location is ideal. I can’t say enough about the staff. They were friendly, took time to listen, made sure I understood the plan, and were very knowledgeable. Absolutely I will go back here when my fur babies need help and my primary vet isn’t open. Love these folks!

My pit bull and I received excellent care here for Xylitol poisoning. My regular veterinarian recommended them, and I’m glad she did! The office is in an old house, which felt way more welcoming and less scary for my dog than the typical vet’s office, and all of the staff we interacted with were kind, helpful, and most importantly, highly competent. I called before showing up with my dog, and when we got there, the staff took care of her right away. This office was also able to offer us exceedingly reasonably priced veterinary care, which certainly took some of the stress out of the situation. My dog is back home and healthy as can be, and we couldn’t be any more grateful to these vets! Excellent!

I am very impressed with Dr. Stasiak. My dog was clearly in a lot of pain but I didn’t know why. Dr. Stasiak spent at least 15 minutes explaining what he thought was wrong and different possibilities for treating it. I was very relieved and will return to this clinic again if we have another emergency. I was also pleasantly surprised that the cost of our late night visit was not as expensive as I had feared.

I have taken both my dogs here for different concerns. They are quick, pleasent, and caring. They are wonderful people that really care for your pets. Highly recommended!

My dog started acting funny with his back one Saturday and I tried seeing my vet, but was told they were booked for the day. After calling multiple places, I was referred here by my vet and was happy to discover this place.
They have reasonable prices for being an emergency vet and were super friendly. The place is located in a cute quaint little house in Arvada and seems super hygienic.
The wait time on that Saturday was a little longer than most, but it turns out they were short staffed that day. Regardless, I was in and out in a decent amount of time and was happy with the care my dog received. I would definitely go back again should I ever need to. Thanks guys!

Traveling from California and camped at remote campsite near Central City, CO. Sunday morning about 3:00 A.M. Dog with bloody stool. By 6:00A.M. just blood. Found Animal Urgent Care on Internet, called and they were open. Dr. Ballotti diagnosed, prescribed, and treated our dog, and us with professionalism and compassion. We feel that she probably saved her life.

We had to put our dog down because of mast cell cancer. The cancer came out of nowhere and had our healthy dog on his death bed within weeks. It was a really hard decision for us but we couldn’t watch him suffer. Arvada Animal Urgent Care got him in right away on a holiday and were really sympathetic. I received a card in the mail a few days later hand written from the staff letting me know that my best friend was laid to rest peacefully and giving sympathy for our loss. We had the option of being in the room while he was euthanized however we couldn’t bare to watch. We wanted to remember him at his best. In the card was material on coping with a lost pet and a card letting us know some of the money we spent was donated to help a pet in need. The personal touch really went a long way for us. We will hopefully be getting another dog when we are ready and will look to this vet for hopefully more positive services.

Always have decent service each visit here. Daytime exam is around $ 69. Seems like a secret vet since no one is here during the day but I was able to get in and out within an hour including waiting for the vet. Pay attention to the operating hours Tu-​Th listed above as they do not open until 5 PM on those days.
Everyone here has been extremely professional and kind. Very clean. They always offer to fax over records of the visit to your current vet. A bit warm in the summer with only fans. Advise them if your pet has a communicable disease (i.e. Kennel Cough) so they can get you out of the front waiting area and into an exam room ASAP.
Small parking area that may be difficult to get in and out of during the PM rush hour.
Overall an excellent resource to keep in your address book should you need an emergency after hours Vet.
Found via Unilocal reviews and they didn’t steer me wrong.

Animal Urgent Care is absolutely amazing! We have used their services twice, once to put down a beloved cat of 18 years and another time to try to help my ailing 3 year old kitty. Both times they were incredibly compassionate, kind, and loving. They truly do love pets here. They have always been up front about their pricing. My only complaint is that they aren’t open all of the time, I would switch vets in a heartbeat (and I even like my vet office).

This place is wonderful. Clean and small. They talked me through everything that they were going to do for my dog and gave me a detailed estimate. There were absolutely no surprises when the bill came.
I would go back, but hope I don’t have to.

Located in the rural area of West Arvada, Animal Urgent Care is a little bit of a shlep to get to… BUT OH SO WORTH IT!!!
We have called on their care/​services two times in the past 3 years:
*Our Great Dane bloated (and survived)
*Two of our other dogs got into a scuff and one needed to be surgically put back together.
Ive got nothing but EXCELLENT to say about the care our dogs received at Animal Urgent Care. Both doctors and supporting staff alike are highly professional, personable, accurate in their assessment and treatment, and they are just a great organization to deal with.
We hope we never need to call on Animal Urgent Care in the future, but should the need arise… Its peace of mind knowing they are there and ready to render Veterinary care at a moments notice.

I can’t express how happy I am with Animal Urgent Care of Arvada. On Easter Sunday my rat terrier mix, Bella, woke up not acting herself. I decided to take her in. Even though I was a crying mess, the staff were so great. They told me everything they were doing along the way. I liked that they gave estimates before doing anything and are honest that it might cost more. They were so gentle with my baby girl and very thorough. I’m now working with my regular vet to get Bella back to her old self. This place got us through a tough time and I couldn’t be more thankful for them! I wish I could remember everybody’s name but it doesn’t really matter as they were all GREAT!

We recently had to put our 14 yr old Weimaraner down due to liver failure. He had been sick for a few weeks and our regular vet recommended we go to Animal Urgent Care if there were any after-​hours emergencies. The staff was helpful and compassionate during a very difficult time in our lives. What really impressed me, is that they even sent a nice note in the mail a couple of days later with their sincerest apologies. I would highly recommend this vet to anyone in the future.

PLEASE READ MY STORY
SORRY IT IS SO LONG BUT I DIDN’T WANT TO LEAVE OUT ANY OF THE DETAILS.
I took my 6 month old puppy here because one day I had gotten home and she had protrusion coming out of her anus. When I arrived at the animal hospital DR Segerman told me that what was going on was a prolapsed rectum. She said that it was going to need a surgery to correct it that was going to cost approximately 850.00 dollars, and she also said that it was a good idea to take an x-​ray to make sure that she didn’t have a blockage that would have caused this. I agreed to this and was supposed to receive a call later that evening to tell me the results of the x-​ray. She called me a short time later and said that there was what appeared to be a cloth like blockage in her intestine and that it was going to be a major surgery costing 2300 to 2800 dollars which we agreed to do.
Later that night I hadn’t heard from them so I had called to check on her. I was then told that something more serious had come in and they had to tend to that. I received a call from a different Dr a short time later who said that she had just gotten there and had run another x-​ray to see for herself and told me that it was only two small rocks in her stomach and that they had given her a medication and she had thrown up one of them. This Dr had told me that the one rock left was a tiny rock (smaller than a marble) and was not creating a blockage. She told me that what she would like to do was let her just hang out over night to see if she would pass the rock on her own. Then a short time later we received a call saying that our dog needed the surgery immediately and we agreed to it.
I called the following morning to see how she was doing and to see when I could come get her. Dr. Segerman told me at that time that the charges were going to be considerably less because they only had to go in the stomach and not the intestine. when I had arrived to pick up my dog they gave me the final bill that was 2600 dollars. I raised concern about the price of the estimate compared to the Dr. telling me it as going to be considerably less, after much prying they finally let me talk to the Dr. who just said that it was a miss-​communication and that was it.
Mean while they told me that my dog needed to be on a GI diet which I could get at any store. That night was a Sunday night so pet smart was already closed. I checked at Target and King Soopers with no luck. I had to just let her make it through the night, in the morning Petsmart informed me that all GI diet foods are prescription only, and the couldn’t believe that the let a dog go with no kind of prescription after having that kind of surgery. I called back to them and talked to Kate the manager at the hospital who was extremely apologetic for the events that took place there and refunded me 100 dollars.
Unfortunately my dog had another partial prolapse after my vet took the stitch out and they had me come back in to get the stitch back in for longer period of time. 3 weeks later she had another one. I called my vet and they told me it was going to be a major surgery that was going to cost another 1200 dollars. That was when we had to make the horrible choice to take our do to a rescue place because we were just out of money and they would give her the surgery. I talked to the rescue place about a week later to see how she did with her surgery and how she was doing. I then had found out that it wasn’t a rectal prolapse like they said but it was a cyst that needed to be drained. They also said that surgery to take the rock out of her stomach sounded fishey and that she should have passed it by herself.
I then called back to Arvada animal urgent care who then got me in touch with the owner Dr. O’Rourke who I said I would like to tell the whole story to. Dr. O’Rourke was pretty cold and short with me and told me that she didn’t need to her my story and that she would just send it in to their insurance company to review the file. The insurance company told me that their insurance company only covers mal practice cases were they mess up and causes me to have another surgery.
So all in all in took my puppy here and the misdiagnosed the problem which cost me alot of money and eventually led to me having to release my puppy to a rescue place. i hope every one that reads this will think twice about bringing your pet to Animal Urgent Care of Arvada.

This the 2^nd time coming here after my regular vet was closed. Very comforting in difficult situations.

The staff at Animal Urgent care in Arvada was wonderful. I brought my 10 year old boxer in in the middle of the night because she had had what I thought was a seizure. Turns out she had a heart attack and had another one while we were there and passed in the office. The staff quickly brought us in to be with her in her final moments. The staff was patient, understanding and compassionate and helped me through what I was experiencing. The dr was also helpful explaining the cost and even offering to go step by step so we were’t charged unnecessarily until we could get to our regular vet. I would highly recommend them to care for your pet.

This place is absolutely wonderful. I have had to take my dog here twice now and both times have been excellent experiences. They are very caring and it shows in everything they do. One thing I really like about them is that they tell you how much everything will cost so there are no surprises when you get to the cash register. It is clear that they really like dogs and take very good care of them.

I have thought for a long time about writing this review, because I think emergency vets like this one are invaluable. Especially this one in a somewhat «rural» area, which is open 23 hours a day, every day, and which so many have had amazing experiences with. But, I do think my experience was valuable and worth noting.
In September, my dog was staying with relatives as we returned from out of town. He was stung by a bee the day we came home, and our relatives monitored him, iced his paw, kept an eye on him, he seemed fine. In the middle of the night he became violently ill (blood from both ends kind of ill). They called me and said they were taking him here, which I agreed with.
We arrived at 7:05 am. The staff made *absolutely no mention of cost* and it was not on signage to be seen anywhere. When I came in they had taken my dog’s temperature and found he had a fever, but they gave him NO medicine. The doctor listened to us explain that he was stung by a bee in the last 12 hours and she said «absolutely no way is this an allergic reaction to a bee sting.» She told us it was something COMPLETELY different that normally comes from eating animal feces, which we made abundantly clear he did NOT do. She then asked where our normal vet was. We told her and she THEN, after we had been «admitted» said, «well we’ll call them and if they’re open, you should go there.» She then found out our vet opened in 20 minutes, and told us we should take him there because he was stable.
So, she basically waited until AFTER she could charge us to conveniently tell us we could take him to our normal vet. Even if we had known that our vet was opening soon before we arrived, we were worried he was too serious to make it there. Instead of telling us we could go right away, she wasted 15 minutes of my dog’s health and our time, took his temperature, and then had the gall to charge us $ 100. Why $ 100? Because as I later learned when I called to complain, that is their «overnight» charge. When I pointed out that since 7:00 am is when other vets are open it really cannot be «overnight» I was told «well we charge from 8:00 pm until 7:00 am as overnight». Were we told this? No. When I complained, I was told they are supposed to tell people their charges before appointments, and they offered to have me pay the «day» fair of $ 50. $ 50 for 15 minutes, my dog’s temperature taken, an incorrect diagnosis, and a towel they wrapped him in.
By the way, when we finally made it to our vet, we learned that this absolutely WAS a bee sting allergy, which was everything this emergency vet told us it wasn’t.
So, in short, this vet: waited to contact our vet until AFTER they could charge us; charged us an «overnight» fee without telling us or notifying us of the charge which they said was their policy; charged us $ 100 (later $ 50) for a potentially dangerous misleading misdiagnosis; failed to refund me even when I pointed out that they medically impacted my dog by misdiagnosing him; had the gall to not even apologize. They didn’t seem even remotely interested that our dog didn’t die, no thanks to them. So, if my dog is actively in a medical emergency, would I take him here? Only if that is literally my only option. I think I had a fluke experience here but I found their way of dealing it with it to be so negative that I just cannot see myself returning.

We took our two dogs here in the middle of a Saturday night several months ago, after they got into some oatmeal raisin cookies. We called first, and based on how much we thought they ate (between the two dogs) they recommended we bring them in. It’s a good thing we did — the vet induced vomiting and discovered that our 20 lb. dog had consumed 22 raisins, and our 15 lb. dog had consumed 72!
I also had a bit of a scare earlier today when one of our dogs got some of my Vitamin D supplement. I didn’t think it would be a problem, but after a quick online search to double check, I discovered that Vitamin D can be harmful to dogs! I called them to ask if we should bring him in. The vet checked on how much he could tolerate based on his weight, and said the amount that he got wouldn’t be harmful, just that he might have a bit of an upset stomach later on. I’m glad i didn’t have to call one of the pet poison hotlines and pay $ 60-​some to find that out! More importantly, the fact that they were honest about not needing to bring him in, instead of lying to get my money, makes me have some trust in them — very important when it comes to people involved in a life or death situation with my furry family members!
