Perhaps it’s because I’m not Filipino, I’m a little more conservative on the Unilocal review. This is the 2nd time I’ve eaten here and it’s not too bad. They don’t use MSG, so that’s a good thing. It’s not oily like most other places I’ve been to. It’s in this plaza with other businesses and hard to see if you are driving on the streets, you have to go into the parking lot to see this business. Nearby Kiko’s Chicken where I’m a regular there. I had the«Canton-Bihon» bowl from here today. I can understand why the other Unilocal reviewers had issue with this place… the food dishes are not kept under a heat lamp or warm water bath, but there is AC running though the place inside. It’s a hole in a wall place with a few tables and chairs inside.

Located right next to kikos. Bought the empanadas and mongo hopia. Both are good. Empanadas were flavored well I just removed two stars cause 1) they were not heated and 2) credit card minimum was at least $ 15. Would come back for the empanadas but would probably order it so it’s served fresh instead! They also have other things on the menu so I’ll definitely check it out!

New business in a revamped NS Plaza, which had its brand spanking new signs, all in red, and theirs is misspelled(Bakershop). Amalia’s replaces the previous business that was here for maybe the blink of an eye(called 99 Cent Gourmet Store, which also replaced the other bakeshop business here) Got the chicken empanada and biscotti just to try them out. Biscotti overdone.(So hard I thought I had chipped a tooth biting into one.) Even AFTER dunking in coffee, still so hard. I threw out the bagful I bought on trial. Empanada was also pretty to look at, seemed fresh out of the oven(they were on a table still on the bake sheet, so I thought they were maybe cooling?), but sadly not tasty. Filling seemed to mixed with mayonnaise, which is not how most empanada fillings are made. The lady staffing the store that day seemed friendly and sincere, so the two stars. BTW, also serving meals but when I was there, the food was laid out on tables, not under a heat lamp nor over a warm water bath, so I don’t know if that’s kosher.
