Together in Motion

Great space for my son, who is almost two years old, to run around, play with balls and climb on stuff. $ 7 admission is more reasonable than other indoor play spaces. Bathrooms are nice too.

I’m very new to the whole indoor play area for young children and this is the first place that I’ve ever been too (I can only compare it to Chicago’s Children Museum). I can only speak to the drop-​in hours on the weekends (9 – 11 am). To simply put it, Together in Motion is basically a large room covered with gym mats AND soft, large climbing blocks plus a bunch of rubber balls. The items are placed in a giant closet and parents basically have to set up the play area themselves. My daughter is only a year old and she’s happy just crawling and walking around the large room looking at the older kids. There isn’t really much other than doing a bunch of physical activities (climbing, dribbling balls, running around, etc.). I wish the play area was cleaner even though children and guardians have to wear socks when they’re in there.
However, since it’s only 10 minutes from our home, it’s an alternative play area during inclement weather.

I am not sure what so say other than my kid loves it. I think it is a little grungy. It basically la free for all for the kids to run around and bounce off of the (padded) walls followed by group activities. Certainly worth a try, and good on rainy/​snowy day when you need to keep same and the kid (s) need to burn off some energy.
Parking was pain in the behind however.

This is the only reason we kept our sanity in the winter. Our son is 18 months and needs to run around, more than our apartment can handle. TIM is a great location for kids to be kids, we have since recommended to other parents and they are all appreciative

We’ve been taking our now 16 month old daughter to open play time for the last 6 months or so. We sometimes go to 0−2yr group and sometimes to 0 – 6. The 0 – 6 timeslot gets VERY crowded on weekends and that makes it overwhelming for me and my daughter and unfortunately not all the older kids are well-​supervised. I understand they will be there and I like having the age range and exposing my toddler to older kids but I think parents need to keep an eye on their kid whatever age.
We use the monthly pass and it is a good deal. We are always there promptly if not a few minutes before the open play starts and the staff have so far always been on time to open up.

Coming from someone who is always looking for space for auditions, rehearsals, meeting or even a production, Together in Motion is just another great place to rent out for any of the above needs. I also hear its a great place for Dodgeball, so there’s that!
Located right on Broadway in Arlington, its a right in a fairly quiet area, that is not too far from Teele or a bus line or two. It is very easy to get to and it is a good sized space.
The above area has an office and a giant play room, but its really in the basement where it really counts. The have one large room, called the «Grunge Room» with cement walls and a big enough area for whatever you need to do. With plenty of chairs, it could easily be set up for all sorts of things, from a small play, read or meeting. We recently held rehearsals and are planning on holding a film shoot there. We are very happy on how things have been working out. The scheduling coordinator Erik, is extremely helpful and friendly, available for any questions or concerns. It has been a super painless process working with him and he has been more than accommodating for our production.
Next to the Grunge Room is a small dance studio that can easily be used for meetings, or rehearsals or even an audition. It’s not as big, but it is still a good location.
Overall, the place has a very eclectic feel and its very unique in style and in presence. The process of working and communication with them has been really simple and refreshingly easy. They respond quickly and will make sure that everyone is ok on your end and are there for any questions or concerns. Together in Motion is a great place for artists and the communities alike to come, play, thrive and create. Check it out!

I recently had my 1 year old’s first birthday party at Together in Motion. All in all, the place was big and roomy. Not the cleanest of places as I picked up some garbage from under a couch but we were able to give it the necessary ambiance for the party. We loved the play area.
My biggest qualm and the reason for giving so few stars is that the heating broke down and as a result the eating area was colder than outside (on one of the coldest days). All of the warm food we had brought was stone cold. We had brought our own kettle for making tea and most of our guests ended up warming themselves thanks to that. The girl minding the desk was a teen and didn’t have the authority to do much more than call her supervisor and try to get things working. I was surprised that someone more senior in management didn’t show up. I didn’t hear from them after the even and expected a full apology for the inconvenience.
The place is relatively cheap in cost, and worthwhile if you have a bunch of kids. That said, I wouldn’t recommend it to any friends given our experience.

I can only speak to this space’s application for a toddler birthday party.
It is what it is — a free form kiddie gym space. While it didnt have the climbing apparatus that some of similar ilk do have, it is still a fun romp for the little ones. Ample room to host some arts and crafts and dining for a party.
Less one star for badly smelling like feet. Wowzers.
More than sufficient for the cause.

It’s nice to know after a furious night of pegging innocent faces with squishy spheres of destruction, I can buy a bottle of dollar-​on-​yer-​honor spring water, plop down on a comfy couch and fiddle with blocks on wire tracks.
Guess I should mention this is for SBS Dodgeball, not kiddie play time. Sorry for the awesome, gruesome confusion.
In addition to those easily interchangeable activities, the everyspace also hosts groups for physical boot camps, teen dance parties, women’s self-​defense workshops and… drum circles? Yep. It’s like someone brick and mortared The Many Faces of Eve. Or The United States of Tara, depending on your decade.

This is a great space for toddlers to play, a 2 – 4 year old’s dream. My only complaint is that there are so few hours that you can do drop in play. It’s really limited, and the punch pass I purchased has actually gone to waste, because I just can’t get there when they are open.
I also wish the lobby were a little homier — it has a cold feel and could be redone to make it more inviting.

While this is a great space for toddler open play, particularly in the winter months when it’s too cold to play outside, I have a few complaints. The first is, 7 out of 10 times, if we’ve arrived at the stated hour of opening (so 9 am on Sundays, for instance) there has been no staff member there to open the gym. Many times, we’ve had to phone the number on the door and get a code on the alarm to be let in. While this often means we avoid paying the $ 7 charge, it also means that the gym is not set up and the heat is not on. I find this less than moderate service.
This morning when we went, we paid our $ 7 and walked into a room whose thermostat declared 41 degrees. Yes, that’s right – pay $ 7 for your toddler to freeze and not even be able to play. It was ridiculous. It took over an hour for the room to warm up to be even 50 degrees and that was with about 40 children in it and their parents.
I’d give this five stars if a staffer was always present, preferably arriving BEFORE the opening (rather than after) to turn the heat on and get the room set up and if the facilities were kept at a temperature suitable for play.

Together in Motion is on a lot of «surviving winter with a toddler» lists so I made the visit with my toddler son one rainy day during the open play time.
We had trouble finding parking. Inside was stinky, stuffy and crowded. With older kids running rampant and no one really supervising I spent the majority of time trying to make sure my kid didn’t get trampled. There didn’t seem to be much there to amuse a toddler – a bunch of large padded blocks you can arrange in different ways and that’s pretty much it. We were both kind of bored after about half an hour.
Maybe the classes are better, but the drop-​in play time alone is not enough attraction for us to be returning there anytime soon.

Together In Motion is a godsend for frazzled parents during the horrible hell season that New Englanders like to call «Winter». You pay $ 7 during playtimes for your kid to come in, run around, flop down on padded floors, play with huge blocks, and giggle it up with other happy babies. Then you grab your stuff and you leave, and you don’t have to clean up. Perfect.

The home of SBS Dodgeball every Tuesday and Thursday night — it works for me!
The facilities are nice — the large bathrooms are always clean and well stocked. The lounge is large and well furnished. Everything seems to be in good condition. The location couldn’t be more perfect for me: just off Rt 16 on the border of Somerville and Arlington.
My only complaint is the limited parking. There’s only room for a dozen or so cars in the lot, and last time I ended up having to park two blocks away down a sketchy side street.

1 word… DODGEBALL!!!
We play here every week. While I haven’t ever seen any staff members here or worked with anyone here specifically, the SBS guys have done this for us; Each week SBS Dodgeball players infiltrate this facility, so someone’s probably around here somewhere in this shuffle.
The facility is super clean. There are 2 individual handicap sized bathrooms which is great for changing. Plenty of seating for a waiting area. The court is enclosed by a room so balls don’t go everywhere, with foam flooring, so remember to take those shoes off! And make sure you’re wearing your presentable socks. We don’t need any of those piggies sticking out of any holes. While the court is in a room, you’re able to watch games from the outside, there’s pretty good sized window, but be careful when those balls slam into it!
There is a sound system in place, ’cause you know we can’t play dodgeball without some intense music in the background! I love the plush cubes on the sidelines for us to sit on. Just beware when you’re sitting on it the first time, you might fall off!
My only complaint really is there are no lockers to store your belongings. Granted that we’re in a room full of SBSers, but still I’d like to know that I have a place to store my stuff instead of leaving it in my car.

I can’t speak to the child storage & baby-​wrangling options here, but I can say it is a great venue for classes. The entire place is inviting and comfy. Even the workout room (I guess it’s the romper room during the day) is nice and airy, with good space. I’m a fan of mirrors to watch my form (depending on the class), and they are a little short on those, but it’s still a good space. It seems like they have plenty of equipment, in very good condition. The staff… well, make that «the one person who seemed to work there when I went for a martial arts group»…is really nice and very knowledgeable. The schedule is impressively full and varied. The space is also rentable for… well, it seems to be a good space for just about anything. And between the dedicated parking lot and the wheelchair access, it’s also good for anyone.

if you have little ones with tons of energy that can’t be released due to cold or rain or sleet… it can be relieved with an open play session here!
it’s a nice new facility with a padded floor and tons of foam toys, balls & whatnots for your kids to play on, around, under, etc. it’s clean, easy to find & has good parking (along with amusing parking space names). it’s $ 7 a child for 2 hours.
it’s also a great place to have a birthday party when you reserve the whole place… $ 249 for two hours & up to 15 kids on the weekends but you get the whole place to yourselves and it’s pretty big.
i haven’t tried any of the classes yet but thinking about it (they have them for big people too)…
the only concern i had was at an open session where the bigger kids aren’t being reigned in by parents can sometimes be a pain — oh and don’t forget socks! they are required and although they have some you can borrow… i won’t go there :)
