Charming older gentleman owner from Syria, and a young man waiter who tries but just isn’t cutting it started off my experience here. I ordered the Lentil Soup(delicious), Tabboulli(good stuff, heavy with parsley as it should be) and a falafel sandwich(those nuggets were piping hot). Sure the menu could have used a spell-check and a fact check(there is no meat in the lentil soup for example), but the place is spotless clean and elegant, nice tableclothes on the tables, and prices are not crazy.

I have rarely been to a Mediterranean restaurant that I didn’t at least like. This is one of the two. In my whole life. The food was all completely underwhelming, to say the least. I will never go back, even though it’s right by my house.

I wanted to like this place, for the sake of the grandfatherly man that runs Semiramis. We showed up at an empty café on a Friday evening, which set warning bells ringing. The kibbeh allayed our fears, flavorful fried patties accompanied by hummus and pita. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. Shishkabob and grill platters were unpalatable, reeking with theunmistakable smell of burnt old oil. Unfinished plates returned to the kitchen. The old man cooked all of it himself. The chicken shawarma was nothing special. When you go to a small hole in the wall Mom n Pop type business, you expect good food, if not great. Either the cook was off that day or something is up with these 4 star reviews.

This is the real hole in the wall. If you are going to be concerned about furniture, décor, ambiance, matching tables and chairs, please don’t go. If you are going to complain about anything that is not edible, keep looking. If the sign outside in Arabic makes you nervous, please look for the next Wendy. This is a place where you should eat blindfolded and judge for what the food is like. The owner is from Damascus, Syria and is the mildest person ever. The food, well the food is like your grandmother was from Syria and you went to visit for the holiday. The place has a simple buffet with few meat items and few vegetable sides. Don’t look, don’t judge, just eat. It is good, very good.

Semirami’s was my favorite unknown place to go in high school, a skip across the street from AHS. Their falafel is one of the best falafel that I’ve ever tasted, and their seasoned fries are crispy and flavorful, made on-order and perfect for bonding with your friends over. The couple that owned this place was the sweetest couple, super attentive and always smiling. Their prices are generally very affordable, even for the typical high schooler. Definitely also go for the hummus, and don’t be deterred by the fact that it’s a hole-in-the-wall! Great place for Mediterranean food!

Went to the restaurant with my family recently and had a good experience here. The establishment is locally owned and the family who runs the place is extremely nice. The menu has a decent selection of sandwiches(we went during lunch). We all order the gyros and had the same consensus. The gyros are very good here and based on my experience one of the better ones all around. The fries were good too. Would definitely come back and eat here again.
